  Client/Server Questions and a Problem
Posted by: Turbe - 2007-02-15, 04:46 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

Is (are) my following assumption(s) correct when running GBPVR in client mode?

In GBPVR's Config (on the client), Directories Tab - both the Recordings Directory and LiveTV Buffer Directory settings are meaningless on the client (as these settings are configured under the Capture Sources Tab)???

I understand that the Video/Music/Photo Library Directories settings are used by the client.

Second Question:
Since Recording Management is done on the Server's Recording Service, why do the clients have to run the Recording Service too?

I am having an issue with Live TV on the client, It states it has Started Timeshift Mode and then about 10 seconds later it goes back to the Menu or TV Guide. Recordings and my videos (on the Server) do play at the client.

I'm using an HDHomeRun (Configured on the Server), Client's Capture Source set to client/server - File Sharing Mode, DVR-MS and Overlay on the client. I've tried different settings for LiveTV pre-delay and Use Live Preview mode if possible is unchecked.

I do see the temporary recording files on the Server in the TV Buffer directory (since Timeshift is enabled for the clients by design) and these files do get deleted automatically.

I get the recording updates (pending, recording now, recording soon etc.) fine on the client, everything seems to work but Live TV.

Any suggestions? Rolleyes

Thanks in advance!

  Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick & GB-PVR
Posted by: RichEV - 2007-02-15, 04:30 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (8)

[Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=BDA 2883 TVTuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=BDA 2883 Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

These are the lines that need to be added to the "bda.ini" file.
I just copied another Pinnacle section and changed the necessary definitions.
The name in brackets can be anything you choose.

As for codecs, I found two places to download them;
http://www.free-codecs.com and http://www.softpedia.com.
The one that worked the best for me was NVidia version 04.02-223.
The site incorrectly listed it as NVidia PureVideo version 1.02-223.
The creation date on the file was before the release date of version 1.02-223.
Version 1.02-223 can be had for between $20-$50 depending on what level of sound output you need.(i.e. stereo, 5.1 or DTS)
Direct from NVidia of course.
It's possible that this is a hacked version of NVidia PureVideo.

In the August 2004 "Remote Control" manual the "Key Codes" funtionally match the "Type A" remote control.

In the June 2006 "Remote Control" manual the "Key Codes" funtionally match the "Type D" remote control.

key47 = Power(This will also be set as the "ESC" button.)
key1006 = Pinnacle(Wanted to use this in place of mute, but it has strange behavior.)
key60 = Mute(This will be set as the "MINI-GUIDE" button.)
key27 = VOL+(This will also work as the "RIGHT" button.)
Key91 = VOL+
Key15 = VOL-(This will also work as the "LEFT" button.)
Key79 = VOL-
Key23 = CH Up(This will work as the "UP" button.)
Key87 = CH Up
Key28 = CH Down(This will work as the "DOWN" button.)
Key92 = CH Down
Key49 = 1
Key50 = 2
Key51 = 3
Key52 = 4
Key53 = 5
Key54 = 6
Key55 = 7
Key56 = 8
Key57 = 9
Key58 = 0
Key45 = Full Screen(This will be set as the "ASPECT RATIO" button.)
Key41 = T(This will be set as the "ENTER" button.)
Key14 = Fast Reverse(This will be set as a 5 sec "BACK SKIP" button.)
Key13 = Play
Key7 = Fast Forward(This will be set as 30 sec "FORWARD SKIP" button.)
Key11 = Stop
Key39 = Record
Key29 = ?(Menu not Info)(This will be set as the "OSD" button.)

These were the "Key Codes" listed in the "Type A" section of "profiles.ini" that I could confirm.
That is with the exclusion of the "Power" and "Pinnacle" buttons.
These two are listed in the "Default" section

These are the modded parts of "profiles.ini" needed to use the remote control with GB-PVR.

key57=KEYBOARD 9+^9

key58=KEYBOARD 0+^0

key60=KEYBOARD CTRL+g+^g+^CTRL

"remoteterm.exe" must be running for this to work.
Why there are double codes for the incremental keys, I don't know.
A post in another forum said that every key has a secondary code if you hold it down for longer than a certain time.
If this is true, the secondary code is the primary code + 64.
This simular to an ASCII shift bit.

The strange behavior of the "PINNACLE" button was as follows:
If the button was set as the "MINI-GUIDE" button and used in the "Live TV" screen, when the "ESC" button was pressed on the remote; the computer would execute a "CTRL+ESC" sequence and lock out both the number pad and the cursor keys.
This behavior may only be isolated to my Gateway M680 laptop.

Here are some lines I added to "Aspect Ratio" section of "config.xml" because my laptop has a 16 x 10 aspect ratio.
<AspectRatioMode name="3x4 FH" ratio="0,-0.1,1,1.1" />
<AspectRatioMode name="16x9 LB" ratio="0,0.05,1,0.95" />
<AspectRatioMode name="Cinematic LB" ratio="0,0.16,1,0.84" />
<AspectRatioMode name="3x4 PB" ratio="0.0833,0,0.917,1" />
<AspectRatioMode name="16x9 FV" ratio="-0.0556,0,1.0556,1" />
The first removes the black bars from the sides with only 10% overscan on the verticle.
The next 2 are self explanatory "Letter Boxes".
The fourth is the standard "Pillar Box" scaled to a 16 x 10 display.
The last removes the "LetterBox" from a 16 x 9 program with only 5.6% horizontal overscan.

By the next time I post I should know whether a "Universal" remote can be used in place of the mini-remote.
It should work, as I was able to control the TV in the Silverton Hotel with the mini-remote.
This would give us more buttons to set as functions.

I am also going to take a crack at getting the analog section of this tuner to work.

Happy Viewing
RicH

PS: Thanx Sub for a well designed app. I am definately going to donate to the cause.

  Firefly remote control config File - download here
Posted by: 86atc250r - 2007-02-15, 01:53 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (15)

Recently I was playing with my firefly remote and reloaded the drivers.

Unlike you might expect, the installer does not respect user data files and deleted my gbpvr.xml config file for some reason.

In trying to get it set up again, I was reminded of the lack of complete config files available on the web and how much tinkering I had to do to get it working to my satisfaction.

So here it is - probably the most complete config file on the web for the firefly remote. There may be some functions you would like to change, but most everything should pretty much work as expected.

I'm also including the main config that kills the beyondTV mappings that come by default & remaps them to GBPVR functions. The firefly button will fire up GPBVR and the music, TV, and video buttons work as expected.

Hopefully this helps someone at some point get their remote configured much more quickly and easily than having to do it from scratch or one of the incomplete files found on the web (and maybe help me if I ever lose my config again)

These files should be placed in the following subfolder
Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Firefly\Profiles

  Dish network DVBEPG?
Posted by: audballz - 2007-02-15, 01:32 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (15)

Last I heard, it was not working due to Dish Network using different standards from DVB. Just want to know if there was a workaround or if there is already a fix.

Thanks,

  Cinergy DT USB XS Diversity working in GBPVR
Posted by: amax2000 - 2007-02-15, 01:26 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

i didnt know where to post this, but i thought it could be helpful, as i did not find a solution in the www,

the terratec cinergy dual tuner usb stick works in gbpvr with the normal entries in bda.ini:

[TerraTec Cinergy DT USB XS Diversity pure1]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER="Cinergy DT USB XS Diversity Digital Tuner (Dev1 Path0) "
FILTER_CAPTURE="Cinergy DT USB XS Diversity Digital Capture (Dev1 Path0)"
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

was quite tricky, because you have to leave a space for the tuner in Line 3 after the bracket ..._") but not for the capture crad line 4 ...)"

took a while to figure out, maybe it could help

  Database Trouble - SQLite
Posted by: 86atc250r - 2007-02-15, 12:47 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

It seems I now have 300GB of recorded files that I no longer have information for.

Unsure what happened - but everything in my "recordings" section is gone. I still have EPG and other data - browsing the DB, it appears the EPG for the recorded files is still there, but I can only assume that the file name associations are stored in the recording_schedule table - which has somehow emptied itself - completely.

Anyone have any idea what could have caused this & how to prevent it in the future - it doesn't appear that there is any way to get any of it back.

Using SQLite, 99.5, etc. Nothing changed on my end to make this happen. Data was there last night, gone today - odd thing is, this appears to be the only table that has emptied itself. Unfortunately, it's probably the only table that can't be easily rebuilt.

  A small leap for the video library, a huge step for man kind
Posted by: joche - 2007-02-14, 11:07 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (5)

I haven't found any good plugin for my movies. So I'm using the standard Video Library that comes with the product. It works good.

It could be even better if it could show some texts along a movie. Today I store all movies in separate folders and I use folder.jpg as a thumbnail. That's great. If I could add another file, let's call it folder.html or description.txt with some text to show along with the thumbnail everything would be awsome.

I the best of world this text would allow some markup, for example:
<h1>
<h2>
<h3>
<p>
<ul><il>

Is this at all doable? Can anyone do this? Is the code for the original Video Library available for customization?

  Sub - Best DVB-S Card Option in NZ?
Posted by: mruane - 2007-02-14, 10:39 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (27)

Sub,

I need some help selecting a DVB-S card. I notice that DVB-S cards are now becoming available in NZ from local suppliers (see http://www.ascent.co.nz among others). I was looking at the AVerTV DVB-S Hybrid, the AVerTV DVB-S Pro or the Hauppage WinTV Nova S2.

Given your experience with DVB-S cards what would be your advice for a card to be used exclusively with GBPVR. Not all of the above are mentioned in the hardware compatibility list and I cannot see any dual tuner cards available locally. So, one of these three look like it.

If you needed to replace your DVB-S card, what would you go with?

Cheers Mike
