Can I stream my recordings in a non-local-networked environment?
I am under the impression that I need to have a local-area-network setup to be able to stream using gbpvr client-server setup.
I cannot create a LAN setup at home because the other computer is my work laptop which they do not allow (I do not know how they disbaled it) it to network in a home-style-network.
I can connect to my home router fine, and the bandwidth between the HTPC running gbpvr and my work laptop is very high (100mb cabling thru switch) so I do not have a bandwidth issue.
Expect I cannot create a LAN.
IS it necessary to have a LAN to be able to stream?
I read the wiki but it is not very clear to me yet.
I don't know if this is a bug or a feature request ...
Currently, in the recordings directory, you have the .mpg file and possibly
the .txt files from comskip and .srt from mpg2srt. Deleting a recording
removes the .mpg, .srt and the .txt file.
I create .edl and .smi files and these are left behind. Is there a way for GB-PVR
to remove all files starting with the same basename? or configurable?
Experienced a failed recording with a zero byte file size. The log shows the following error upon attempting to play the file:

This recording was started with a pretty full disk. Is this failure indicative of insufficient disk space?
Sorry if the log format is mangled, couldn't figure out how to make it look nice. Noob at this.
I am wondering if it is possible to set the order that my specified directories show in the default Video Library plugin (v. 9905). This is a minor issue in otherwise excellent software, but it's bugging me.
I have several directories I want to display in Video Library. Eg - D:\, E:\, F:\Video. Say they are named "Recordings", "Series", "Movies".
When I input them into the config.exe program it puts them in a random order. It doesn't seem to be based on directory name, display name, or order inputted.
I don't see any way to manipulate them in the config app. So I looked in config.xml and see all the directories and names there, in the order from config.exe. I change the order to what I want, but there is no change in gbpvr.exe
How can I change the quality of the Live TV in GBPVR? I would like to change the quality so that it takes up less bandwidth so that Live TV is watchable. I don't need time-shifting capabilities - just Live TV.
I am currently going across my network with GBPVR installed on my server using a PVR-150 Hauppauge card (which has a hardware mpeg encoder). I have GBPVR installed on my client machine and have it set to connect to the share on the server that I created (\\server01\GBPVR).
I've tried changing the quality settings in Webadmin but it still is trying to transmit full quality tv.
I am accessing live TV on my client PC by right-clicking the G icon in the system tray, clicking start GB-PVR and then clicking Live TV.
I appreciate any help. I've spent at least two hours looking through the documentation and searching the forums and everything I have tried hasn't changed the quality.
after 4 days of hard work I finally have gbpvr running. But unfortunately I still face several problems. One of them concerns time shifting.
But first things first:
I'd like to say thanks to sub for sharing such an incredible nice work! Its good that there are people like you out there.
An now step by step. Starting with my timeshift issue:
When I am watching LiveTV (box preview is ticked) and hit the pause button gbpvr goes in the timeshift mode. The timeline appears and a file is created. But nothing more happens.
My question:
How can navigate in the file? Or do I have to wait till recording is finished. I thought there is kind of a navigation bare which allows me to start the recorded program.
Sorry for lack of knowledge and for doing something obviously wrong.
Lindsay Wrote:I'm trying the latest nightly on a Vista m/c. The dongle loads OK and I can navigate around the menu but many functions don't work. LiveTV (reboots), music (nothing happens) , videos (reboots) don't work. Displaying photos, TV Guide, Find does work.
Lindsay because I don't have Vista available this is difficult, but this looks like problems with the media service. My first things to steps to debug this would be
1) ensure that the media service is not firewalled
2) make sure that both Hauppauge services are off.
3) attach the gbpvr.exe log, sticking with mp3 audio for now.
I'm not sure how comfortable you are doing technical things but I can do more if you think you can telnet to your mvp. If you don't understand this don't worry but if you can I will upload a dongle to mvpmc.org that displays debug information that can work in cooperation with gbpvr logs.
Quote:After a reboot, the first button press is swallowed.
I know this problem. Something I do causes an an additional display of the initial gbpvr and hauppauge screens, and no remote keys are accepted until the second arrives. Waiting a second or so you might not see this.
Also by reboot do you mean mvpmc reboots or does emulation mode end and mvpmc return to the main screen (without going through power up cycle)?
Quote:But it does communicate under Vista which is a plus! However, the above problems don't make it a likely replacement just yet, unfortunately.
Right now overall it is an alternative and not a replacement.
Trying to install GBPVR latest version, I have a PVR350 and PVR150 installed in the same PC (wanted two tuners!) running on a VIA EPIA M10000 motherboard with 256MB ram (I know!!) Everything seems to work OK until I try and view Live TV, I get the fuzzy picture (like theres no channel) then after a few seconds GBPVR locks up! Not sure if its just lack of memory, or a problem with using two PVR cards in the same PC, or something else! Has anyone had anything like this happen to them, and if so what was the solution?!!
I'm using rename recording plugin and it does a great job but the ones that don't have an episode name it has a list of numbers after the main name like this.
Fight Science_20070213_19002100.mpg
How can i get rid of the numbers?
Thanks
