widescreen on a normal TV during live tv
Posted by: petewxm - 2007-02-07, 07:29 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (17)

Is it possible to get the MVP to display widescreen on a normal TV during live TV.
I know Zprocess will change recorded programmes, just wondering is it possible during Live TV

On the GBPVR config screen under MVP there is an aspect ratio, but its grayed out and I cant change the selection.

Thanks

Frustrated -- can't be this difficult
Posted by: firstblackboy - 2007-02-07, 07:13 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (24)

I realize this is going to be a fairly wide open plea for help. I have a pvr 150 for input and an ati tv card for out put. I installed the cards and drivers loaded GB-pvr and went through the config step by step. The end result was nothing worked. When I Tried to watch live TV (on the computer) I got an "Object Reference" error. Couldn't get the remote to work tried the hauppauge ir blaster .exe and the haupblast.exe still nothing. Also couldn't get the regular remote functions to work either. Went through the "fix Hauppauge remote" settings. Still nothing.

I am hoping to make a "set it and forget it" box to record and watch live tv, but i am obviously doing something wrong. Can anyone give me some "getting started" advice. I am not a computer novice by any stretch, but I have goofed up something in the config.

I have heard lots of good things about GB-pvr so I am determined to get it to work, just need to make sure I am pointed in the right direction.

  mpeg-2 to dvd
Posted by: senor_fuego - 2007-02-07, 07:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (34)

Hello Guys,

I am still trying to work on getting these mpeg-2 files over 12 gigs compressed and converted? to fit on a single dvd. I can't seem to find the right program to do this. I have tried some of the trail versions. Sometimes these won't even recognize the mpeg-2 file. I don't mind paying for the program as long as the quality would be there.

Any help greatly appreciated.

  GBPVR crashing when quitting
Posted by: gkreis - 2007-02-07, 06:42 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have noticed that if I start up GBPVR and then stop it within a few seconds, it crashes with an error. If I leave it running for a minute or so, it seems to not crash. Seems a race situation, expecially since the errors seem to vary.

Here is portion of the gbvr log that shows an error. I've attached all logs as needed.

  Best tweaks for transcoding?
Posted by: dvasco - 2007-02-07, 06:29 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - No Replies

I have trouble watching some of my AVI vids through the MVP. I was wondering if there are tweaks I can do to make the transcoding smoother. Is there a log where I can tell what caused the GBPVR MVP to hang or crash when playing one of these or at least which one? I always forget which ones crash and I am short on time for troubleshooting.

  Web scheduling. How Nice :)
Posted by: Gemini1706 - 2007-02-07, 05:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I tell you, I am soo impressed with the web scheduling feature (just discovered it last night and set it up quickly).
Now I tried it for the first time (from work :) ), and I tell you it is soo cool.
I can even do config changes remotely. or download recorded shows ...etc.

The only problem I had is to know how to access it.
The Wiki does not tell ANYTHING about how to link to it.
Finally I did a search in the forums and after many posts found the syntax:

http://ip:port/gbpvr/login.aspx

Can someone please add this syntax to the Wiki?

I find it surprising that such greate features are not advertised correctly, or has a lot of info lacking, which can discourage a LOT of users.

(I am not interested in the Enhanced Web Scheduling plugin, as I do not want to do many changes as described there, so I did not even read through its description ehich may have had the link syntax).

  Air2PC Card Setup???
Posted by: muskgrave - 2007-02-07, 04:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hello, I have the TechniSat DVB-TV Star PCI card. I have managed to set it up in gbpvr as far as setting it as a capture device, scanning it for available HD channels, and assigning the channels it finds to the EPG of my "standard" tuner card.

I used the MS-DVB mux option as I'm told this is just part of xp sp1 (i have sp2)...anyways..when I go to view the hd channel I get either a black screen with no sound or once I got a static image with sound. I have over 50% signal strength and I know the card works because the DVB-Viewer application it came with works fine.

Does anyone know what the "best" driver is for this card? I got it off e-bay and the driver it came with was not BDA..I was later sent a "beta" BDA driver but wanted to know if someone could help me out with finding the best driver for this card as well as pointers on what settings to use with gbpvr. My standard capture card is the ati theater 550.

thanks!

  OS cleaner
Posted by: soccerdad - 2007-02-07, 04:28 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

I have an HP machine that came loaded with tons of bloatware. Everytime I reload windows (MCE) it loads up all this junk that I have to delete one by one. It also leaves tons of junk in the registry. Are there any cheap programs out there that you can use to select all the junk in one or two steps and clean out all the garbage? I must have 20 extra programs and a dozen systems running in the background that I don't want or need. If not, could I just find a generic MCE disk and install it from that and use my license that I have for MCE? Is there a place that I can download a clean copy of MCE from? Since I have the license, I would not think this would be a problem.

adding missing channel manually to SQL - some questions
Posted by: fuzzweed - 2007-02-07, 04:22 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I had to redo my DVB capture sources, and no matter what I did I couldnt get E4 to show up in the channel scan. Convinced that there was nothing wrong with the broadcast I copied the tuning request out of an old backed up gbpvr.db3 and stuck it in the current one using SQLite Database Browser - and now I have E4 back again.
Q1 - can you see why e4 wasnt picked up by the scan (logs attached)? all the other channels on the mux are fine. Its tuning request is T:C28,530000,0,0,8~P:8448~V:570~A:571~L:eng~PMT:304~N:>E4 if this helps identify it.

Q2 - what is source_channel_number in the database? Some times its the same on each capture card for a channel, and sometimes its not. I stuck with the value from the old DB and that seems to work, but I'd rather have some idea of what it is Ive stuck in Smile

  Comskip in HD
Posted by: cyclone05 - 2007-02-07, 04:21 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (1)

I have been using Comskip for a while and have found that it works perfectly for standard definition television, but really screws up when I use it for my HD stations. I use DVR-MS for the BDA Multiplexer and Comskip still marks sections of the video, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the actual commercials.

I am using a Vbox Cat's Eye 150 for OTA ATSC. Has anyone else had this problem, and is there an easy fix? I know that I can tune Comskip, but I hadn't needed to do that before and I am a little apprehensive about changing the ini file since it works fine with standard definition and I don't want to screw that part up. Can I set it up so that Comskip only works with standard definition? Any other suggestions (since it would be nice if it worked with both)? Thanks
