  Comskip and Fast-Forward Time
Posted by: baj1 - 2007-02-08, 12:21 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

A couple of change requests. These are pretty minor, but things I would certainly use.

1. Allow "auto skip commercials" to be changed on-the-fly instead of requiring a restart of GBPVR (from MVP as well). Comskip works great on most of the shows I record, but there are a couple where it flags the end of the show as a commercial and then I have to go to the computer to watch it (if I'm motivated enough to do so).
2. Allow "skip forward" time to be changed on-the-fly instead of requiring a restart of GBPVR (from MVP as well). As a Football fan (US Football), I would get a lot of use out of this. Skipping over the delay between plays allows me to watch a game in about a 1/3 of the time, but this skip time tends to be 20-25 seconds. It'd be nice to switch it back to 30 seconds for watching regular shows without having to go to the computer.

GBPVR is a great app. Thanks for all your hard work!

-Brad

  Recording/Scheduling Problem
Posted by: baj1 - 2007-02-08, 12:08 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I just recently started recording a show which is on twice (consecutively) on the same channel. I only want to record the second time slot, but the scheduler automatically shows the first being recorded as well. Is there a work-around for this? I noticed it in 0.98.13 and it's still happens in 0.99.5.

Thanks,
-Brad

The problem is outlined in post #4 in the thread below:

  Motorola HomeSight with GB-PVR
Posted by: oxon - 2007-02-07, 10:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi, does anyone have experience of using HomeSight (home security/automation product) with GB-PVR? I have found that the HomeSight video devices seem to conflict with something in GB-PVR that stops them from working. Is there any way I can find what the problem is?

  EPG incorrect
Posted by: BobBuilder - 2007-02-07, 10:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Ive been using xmltvrtc for 18 months now with no problems but the last few days the epg has been incorrect.

Programs are appearing on the wrong chanels, overlapping, all sorts of errors.

If I empty the epg totally and then reload it seems to fix some problems but its still wrong and gets worse with subsequent updates.

If I look at the xml output of the grabber it looks ok though I cant be 100% sure.

Im still using mdb not sql.

Where should I start looking?

Thanks

Bob

  Question about GB-PVR
Posted by: robhix - 2007-02-07, 09:22 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (10)

I am new to this, and I have quite a few questions, but I will start off with just a couple. First, I have a 3 GHz pentium system with 1 GB RAM and plenty of hard drive space. I have a WinTV-PVR-150 card in the computer that I am currently using with the software that came in the box with the card. I am very satisfied where I am, but there are a few things I would like to be able to do.

First, I would like to be able to use the computer while watching something that I have recorded. It looks like to me that most video cards output whatever is on the computer screen. This would not allow me to watch something while at the same time using the comptuer. Will GB-PVR solve this problem?

Second, I want recording control more like a TIVO. I would like to be able to tell the PVR to find and record all of a certain TV show, or only new versions of a certain show. Is this possible with PVR?

I really want the first thing I mentioned here. I am tired of burning DVDs to watch recorded programs on the television. I am also considering using one of the drive enclosures that plays back MPEG files to the television. Not the optimal solution, but I think it would work.

Thanks for the answers,
Rob Hix

New web radio plugin (not just Shoutcast) - UbuRadio v1.0
Posted by: ubu - 2007-02-07, 09:01 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (40)

UbuRadio lets you play web radio streams from within GB-PVR. The Find Stations button lets you pick from hundreds of stations worldwide. You can then play them directly or add them to a Favourites list for later playback. Playback via MediaMVP is supported for most stations.

UbuRadio differs from the standard Net Radio plugin in that it is not confined to playing Shoutcast streams. Pretty much any audio stream format (Windows Media, RealAudio, MP3, OggVorbis, etc.) can be played.

Find out more and download the zip on the UbuRadio wiki page.

  mvp hard reset
Posted by: sjbirk - 2007-02-07, 08:08 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

i would think a hard reset will clear all data or configurations that were done by myself. unfortunately, when i remove power from my mediamvp for 5, 10, and even 20 minutes, it still knows of the network and wep key i used. why is this a problem? my old network is gone, and i am trying to connect to a new network. when i modify the settings in the mediamvp configuration screens (haup sw), i select apply and it says that it can connect to the router successfully but cannot obtain an ip address. when i select cancel, it says it cannot receive an ip address and resorts back to my old settings. has anyone experienced anything like this before? or more appropriately, what was the process used to move from one network configuration to another with the mediamvp?

thanks.
