  Stopped recording after an hour
Posted by: jcole998 - 2020-11-23, 04:03 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (6)

I had a very rare recording failure this morning: Upon signing in, I noticed that the tray icon was red. Normal enough except that no Hauppauge tuners were in use, either the DCR-3250 or the HDPVR2. These are all the devices I have. The desktop app showed what was scheduled to record so I looked at the recording folders and there it was, still open. I also looked at the DCR-3250's website for tuner status and no tuners were in use even though the tray icon showed tuner 0 in use. The recording was scheduled to stop at 10:03am and it did stop on time. But only one hour had been recorded. I looked in the log and saw that at about 9am, messages started repeating. I don't know what these messages mean.

Event start timestamp is 2020-11-23 07:59:00.018

Can anyone tell me what went wrong?

Magewell USB Capture DVI Plus not detected
Posted by: x0hs - 2020-11-22, 09:40 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

Using NextPVR 5, the "re-scan for device" setting isn't able to pull up my Magewell capture device.

Attached is the filtercheck output, which does see the device. Note that I'm using with component video and it also has a 3.5" analog audio line-in for the audio which is why you see it show up multiple times. I have tested with other capture software and I can see the video+audio.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  Web client current timeline
Posted by: VCR58 - 2020-11-22, 02:36 AM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (1)

When searching for a program in the guide by selecting "Tomorrow" and then returning by selecting "Today" to the current time in the guide I noticed that the yellow vertical line indicating current time is not displayed as before. After page refresh the timeline is displayed again.

I repeated the same steps and waited about 15 min or so to see if the line would appear again but it did not. Only a page refresh or navigating to a different page and back makes the timeline appear.

Thanks

Managed to figure out howto import an XC login, and populate the epg.
I have a couple issues, but will start with the stream dropping out, will be streaming fine one minute, the next it may or may not buffer, screen freeze, then drops back to the guide.

  View/Edit recordings in spreadsheet
Posted by: baj1 - 2020-11-21, 07:20 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - No Replies

This may not be that interesting to most, but I found it useful.

Using the Import/Export Recordings feature in NextPVR you can open the export files and view/manipulate the recordings in spreadsheet form (I used LibreOffice Calc).

In my version of Calc I had to go into Tools-Options-LibreOffice-Advanced and enable Experimental Features to make the "XML Sources" menu option available to open the exported recordings.

Attached is the .xsl Export Filter I setup with the recurring recordings formatting.  Note that in my version of Calc (at least) there seems to be a bug with the export filters where if two consecutive columns have the same value, it skips the second one in the output XML file.  In my file that was "Quality" and "Keep" both being zero for most entries.  To remedy this I moved the columns around in Calc, the new positions of which are reflected in the cell offsets in the .xsl file.  The cell offsets are the numerical column position (A=1).

Using this I was able to import my v4 recordings by changing all the v4 recordings to ChannelOID = 0 and ChannelName = All Channels.  I imagine you could get those values if you setup a recording on every station in your v5 install and exported, but that was more work than I wanted to do.  I was also able to eliminate the duplicates (in the v4 export and those we'd already setup in v5) prior to importing.

Cheers,
-Brad

  Advanced Recording??
Posted by: mwkurt - 2020-11-21, 05:57 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (2)

Hello,

Was wondering if it was possible to schedule an advanced recording for a TV Show that may not currently be in my Schedules Direct data but may be at a later date? Say I wanted to schedule "AnyShow" "S04E05"? Is there a way to schedule into the future by Season/Episode numbers?

Thank you,
Mark

  NextPVR/Comskip/Kodi Question
Posted by: TheHellYouSay - 2020-11-21, 04:08 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (1)

I am using Comskip and I think it's working well.  I have NextPVR running on a Windows server and I have Kodi running on a bunch of other Windows PCs.  Is it true that while playing Recordings within Kodi, it uses the NextPVR Add-on, but since Kodi and NextPVR are using http protocol, the markers present in the *.edl files are not available for doing the skipping?  I'm sorry if that's not exactly correct, I'm still learning.

For now, as others have suggested, I am going to have the Kodi clients pull up the actual *.ts files and that seems to do the trick.  It's not a huge deal at all, I just was wondering if there was some "trick" perhaps to get comskip to work within Kodi while maneuvering to the Recordings menu?  Hopefully this hasn't been addressed a million times and I just missed the FAQ!    Blush

How to create Kodi and NextPVR guides with colour
Posted by: mvallevand - 2020-11-20, 10:55 PM - Forum: NPVR Documentation - Replies (24)

This will be eventually make it to the wiki but I thought I'd start here to flesh out the steps involved in adding colour by genre to the NextPVR web and Kodi EPG.  It should already work by default for DVB OTA and Schedules  Direct guides.

This guide assume you can read English.

1.  Locate the genre mapping table in the Program directory data folder called genre-mapping.xml.

Backup this file and work on the backup. I will call this the translation file.

2.  Review the file the key values are the Standard DVB mappings at the beginning of the file.  Colours are based on the type="" value.

3.  Find the genres in your database that you want to map

I suggest using a sqlite tool suggest as sqlite3.  To get this list try this

sqlite3 pathto/npvr.db3
SQLite version 3.28.0 2019-04-16 19:49:53
Enter ".help" for usage hints.
sqlite>.output genres.txt

sqlite>select genres, count(genres) as count from epg_event group by genres order by count desc;
sqlite>.exit

Then you should have a list of all your genres sorted by how often they occur.

4. Open the genres.txt file (I will call this the genres file) from step 3 and work from the top down, I leave it to you to determine how many you want to change some are pretty esoteric

For this example in the genre file I am using I found this

série d'animation|793

This I quickly match to  "Cartoon/Puppets" in the translation file.  Sometimes when it isn't clear it might help to look into the Schedules Direct mapping ("Animated") in the translation file

Using this inormation copy the existing line

<genre name="Cartoons / Puppets" type="80" subtype="5"/>

to the bottom of the backup of translation file and edit it with the text you want

<genre name="série d'animation" type="80" subtype="5"/>

5.  Move down the genres file and repeat the update for the items you want in step 4

6.  Once you are satisfied with the translation file save it ( you might want to save more often)  Then you can verify the file by opening it in Firefox or chrome to make sure it is valid xml

7.  With admin/sudo right rename your original genre-translations.xml to genre-translations.bak and copy in the translation file (as genre-translations.xml)

8.  Restart the NextPVR server and check the guide in NextPVR web.    This is important if you don't see it you won't see your changes.

9. If it works with the web browser it should work with Kodi.

Martin
