A while ago I changed my NextPVR pin from a 4 digit to a 10 digit pin. Everything has been working fine with Kodi. But today I could not access my server with the Android client outside my lan. I know it used to work so I changed the pin back to 4 digit and then I could connect.
I tested connecting with increasing pin lengths and found that the Android client will not connect with a 10 digit pin. A 9 digit pin does work.
I can use a 9 digit pin but I was wondering if the Android NextPVR client limits the password length?
Hi! I am new to the forum and new to NextPVR, but I like it already as I almost got my project to function as planned. NextPVR is easy to configure and works well (as does the Kodi addon).
Here's my setup:
Terratec CI DVB-S2 receiver with native Fransat neotion CAM and smartcard (viaccess-orca) connected to a mini PC running Windows 8.1 and NextPVR.
Now what I want to do is stream Sat channels to a friend who is not allowed to install an antenna at home. So I've put it in my back yard and hooked it up to NextPVR, with port open to the internet. Works like a charm for the unencrypted channels, but:
I would like to get the encrypted channels to work as well, using the CI+ card. Now I have used the search function and I've read that there is no support for CI in the version of NextPVR.
Will it work if I install v4? Or do you know of any other way (or an alternative, sorry ) to get it to work?
I have a late 2015 MBP, Catalina, 1TB SSD. I installed NextPVR on it using the suggested procedure including .NET. Everything seems to work well, I had a lot of space left on my SSD. I record shows to an external USB drive. I thought everything was working well, but recently my MBP tells me my SSD is full. Initially, I though that was strange but deleted old stuff I didn't need since I was in a hurry and had recorded a bunch of stuff to the SSD. However, now I think there is a problem because I can watch my disk usage grow in Finder - Users, My User Account - the file size and number of files just constantly increase.
Not sure how to stop the NPVR on the MBP so I haven't tried that; one time I had to reboot the MBP and I had a hard time figuring out how to restart NPVR, not sure I did it right, maybe that is the problem?
Not very familiar with Mac. Perhaps I should install NPVR via Docker - not familiar with that either.
Help/Ideas?

I have only been using NextPVR 5 for a couple of weeks now, and I have a newbie question. I have noticed that when there are 2 back-to-back recordings on the same channel, the channel change script does not get called at the start of the 2nd recording. Is there a way that I can force the channel change script to run even when there is no channel change? I am trying to handle the case where someone might inadvertently change the STB channel externally with the remote. I considered using the PreRecording.bat script to blast the upcoming channel number, but since that script gets called 2 minutes prior to the start of the 2nd show, it would interrupt the end of the 1st recording in the case of a real channel change.

and for channel I've retyped {channel}.
I get "save" button active, but if I use it - again get this:
This device currently has no channels, hit the Scan or Import buttons to add channels to this device.

I made some headway here and thought I'd share. I have a pretty decent volume of saved recordings, many of which have old comskip files from many versions ago. I don't know if I'm saying this right, but as I understand it they trip up Kodi/knewc due to the edl_skip_field setting. It defaults to 0=cut and you will not be able to play portions of the video marked as commercials. Setting it to a value = 3 will allow playback of the commercial marked portions.
Anywho, my solution was to re-run comskip on all of these recordings so I started a bash script to handle it in bulk in Linux. I'm far from a bash guru but was able to piece together some code with a lot of help from other forums and Martin's PostProcessing.sh example. Here it is:

Just paste the code into your favorite text editor and change <username> to your user, or modify the path completely if you installed Comskip elsewhere. Save the contents to your ~/bin folder and don't forget to chmod +x to make it executable. If you haven't already you might want to make sure you've set edl_skip_field = 3 in your comskip.ini, or add that line to the end of the ini file if needed.
Change the nice value if you like. I have a new server with a 6-core 3.6GHz CPU and I was running two instances of the script (in two separate folders) with nice @ "2" and each instance was showing about 240% utilization in System Monitor. It was processing 1 hour shows in around 100 seconds, although this did vary with the particular show it was processing.
Disclaimer! As stated I am FAR from a bash guru, use at your own risk! It worked on my single-depth subfolder structure of my Video (recordings) folder.
I hope someone finds this useful. This is v1.0, so I'm open to feedback/improvements.

I just noticed I had 3 recordings fail last night (Sunday) at 7:30pm and 8pm on two different channels with the error "Recording service not running at recording time." Those were the only 3 shows set to record during that time window. We have recording from 7pm and 8:30pm, so it was working before and after. I was not doing any server maintenance during that time, in fact I'm pretty sure I was watching football recorded earlier in the day on the server PC.
The same programs recorded fine on Friday and before, but it looks like I had some others fail on Friday with this same error. No failures with this error prior to that that I could find.
My logs only go back to 10am this morning (Monday), so that doesn't help. Anywhere else I can look for info?
I'll keep a closer eye on recording status and post logs if it happens again.
Have never actually tried this before, but I guess I can have NextPVR on the main PC and watch on a local (as in 10 foot away) laptop ?
I tried typing in hopefully the correct url on the laptop and it comes up with the same login screen as on the main PC, but typing the usual password it says Login Failed.
Also, under the Admin > Settings > Remote Access, it says 'If you're intending to use NextPVR over Internet, you need to tick the checkbox below. It'll only allow you to login remotely if you have changed the username/password and pin from the default values. This is required to help keep your machine secure.' So do I need to change the default username/password seeing as I'm using it locally, not via the Internet ?
