  Avermedia m179 sound problem
Posted by: Heartburnkid - 2007-01-25, 05:35 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi, I'm building a rig around the Avermedia m179 capture card (mostly because it's the only card with hardware compression I could get for 30 bucks, and my CPU is underpowered so I need that), and I'm having a little problem with the audio. It seems that, no matter whether I have the capture source set for S-Video or TV Tuner, it always captures the audio from the TV tuner, rather than the sound-in jack on the card. How do I change this behavior?

  New posts/Todays posts
Posted by: mmatheny - 2007-01-25, 05:34 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Why do I sometimes get a Todays Posts in the menu and sometimes it is New Posts? What makes it change. For example, when I opened the forum today, it said Todays Posts. When I went to post this question, I got prompted to log in - THEN it said New Posts.

Is it determined by being logged in or not??

  Hardware encoder card
Posted by: ZaHayNa - 2007-01-25, 04:46 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hey, I'm not sure if this technically belongs in 'Support', but here goes:

I have a Hauppauge Nova-S Plus that works fairly well in GB, except for a few sync problems I can't seem to iron out no matter what multiplexer or whatever it's called that I use.

I found This product (which has a Conexant Cx23416). Would I be able to get this working in GB to replace using a software one?

Or am I way off base here?

Thanks

Enhancement for people with RCA DirecTV box
Posted by: calipham - 2007-01-25, 04:42 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Please include the following enhancements:

1. In the configuration channel zero padded option, please add "Send ENTER at the end of {channel}". Some RCA DirecTV boxes requires this "ENTER" code in order to change channel. Otherwise, the new channel info will be display but won't be changed to until the "ENTER" or "OK" code is sent. Eventually it will time out and clear channel info display then remain in the original channel.

2. Incoporate the Configuration apps as part of GBPVR.EXE

3. On startup of GBPVR, if GUIDE is not up-to-date, prompt user to update guide. This will be helpful for system that are not on all the time

Thanks,

GBPVR rocks...I am actually moving away from my TIVO to GBPVR

Stuttering Playback Overlay VRM9 Confused . COM !!
Posted by: robnotbob - 2007-01-25, 04:41 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Having trouble playing back recorded programs and am now totally confused!

I originally was using cyberlink video and audio decoders and set to "Overlay Manager" This would play fine for a few minutes and then start stuttering every few seconds making it impossible to watch.

I then tried to play the same files with Windows Media Player 11 and Nero Showtime, both played perfectly.! Sad

Now I have tried with Nero Video And Audio decoders and overlay manager selected, still same! OK so now I select VRM9 instead of overlay manager - Perfect Wink BUT No video Controls - Aggh

What a i doing wrong? Does the overlay manager provide the on screen controls? Can the on screen contols be causing the stutter even when they are not visabe? If so can the playback be controlled via MCE remote using VRM9 (have yet to purchase remote)

Any help / advise greatly appreciated

  Streaming problems with EWA
Posted by: jerryfisher - 2007-01-25, 04:20 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (3)

I am running GBPVR 99.5 and Build 54 of EWA. I have a cable connection with Comcast. 6Mbps Download and 384Kbps upload. I have installed VLC on the server and used the default install configuration. I have tried to stream from the office. The web stream player pops up and I launch the external player which give me the opportunity to open stream.vlc with vlc.vlc. The player pops up. Nothing happens so I hit the play button on the VLC server controls and/or the player itself. The player is playing, but no picture then it displayes the play button again ready to play....I then stop the server stream. If I try to play, the VLC player pops up and I can see what looks like the 1st frame of the show. I wait and wait, and nothing else happens. So, I select to download...When I save to disk I can see that I am downloading at about 50k/sec. Really slow in my estimation. I have given up with that. So, in looking through the posts I find a configuration setup that should work. I have even set the scale to .25. No luck.

The only thing I can think to do right now is to try to tweek the setting on the Windows 2000 box that GBPVR is running on.

Any ideas? I have no problem administering, but would really like to view from the office.

Thanks

Problems tuning channels on pvr150 in USA
Posted by: divinehammer - 2007-01-25, 03:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (23)

My system: Hauppauge PVR150 USA I have Zap2it and I am able to update the EPG.
First of all I am a noob talk to me like I am dumb. I am trying to figure out what is going on with my live TV channels.I am able to see all channels perfectly in WinTV2000 but not in GBPVR. I do not use a set top box it is connected directly into my PVR card.I use the 45 button controller that comes with the card I have done the fix button for it and it seems to work correctly for everything I have tried so far.
The first 10 or so channels come in fine with a few in between them that fuzz out, but the higher I go the worse it gets. They get staticy out of tune and no volume. I have tried to use Freq copy and it did not work it created the registry group but did not assign any values to the channels. I have used the tunning assistant and gotten some frequency numbers. I see where you can edit the channels in the channel config area but I have not found out what format you are supposed to put them in I saw one example that was ###,### but my freqs from Tunning assistant are 8 numbers long.

Under Hauppauges channels each entry reads like this
Name Type Value 1_0_8_1_1_10 reg_binary a long hex value

Under TVServices created by FreqCopy
Name Type Data
10 Reg DWord 00x00000

This is like this all the way down now the last numbers in hauppauge match exactly to the names in TVServices. in TV Services I tried modifying the registry Data section to accept a decimal of the frequency from Tunning assistant so I selected decimal and input the 8 digit number. No go on that though. I also went into the edit channels under the capture source and put in the first 6 characters in the channel box that didnt work though. The only thing I can think of is there a service that needs to be restarted or something after making the registry changes or is my formatting off or am I way off. Thanks for looking at this.

  Web Radio Question
Posted by: kg4dkf - 2007-01-25, 03:17 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (1)

I want to be able to listen to WVUM (wvum.org) which streams using an icecast server in MP3 format on my MediaMVP. The Hauppauge MVP server allows this, but I don't see how to do it in GB-PVR. Any help?

  CPU 99% gbpvr.exe
Posted by: onestar - 2007-01-25, 01:43 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hi, I've not had to do anything to gbpvr for months, probably last June. I am running 97.9 quite happily until yesterday. Suddenly I find that whenever I start gbpvr, one of the gbpvr.exe (I start 4 for mvps) will always sit at 99% cpu usage, making doing anything on the machine very difficult.

I haven't upgraded anything, no hardware, no software. The only thing I had done was add another directory for copying DVDs to. On restart I had this problem. What I have found is that if I uncheck the "enable plugins" box the system works fine. The plugins I have are the video , dvd-mpeg, weather and cinema plugins. Even if I disable them individually the cpu usage still hits 99%.

Only when I disable the "enable plugins" checkbox, does it start normally. I don't use the USB-URT (noticed they have a cpu 99% issue in the past). And this system has just suddenly started doing this.

Anyone any help - I really don't want to lose the video, dvd-mpeg plugins.

Thanks

PS I should add none of the logs show anything strange, other than cannot added video_plugin.dll , already added (I don't have the logs here).

Lost partition after scheduling a record
Posted by: greenmaze - 2007-01-25, 12:42 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I scheduled a record the other day for the middle of the night. I had > 20 GB available on the HD at the time. The next day when I went to check the recorded show and I can no longer access the partition. Windows XP says the drive is unformatted and Windows Vista can't access the partition, but shows the partition as having only 4 MB available. I'm guessing the partition filled up and then some. Has anyone else run into this problem? If so, how did you fix it?
