  irremote command clarification
Posted by: HydroChronic - 2007-01-20, 05:43 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Hey everyone

I am trying to get my irremote just right and one of the commands in the documentation I found is a little unclear.

Quote:{mode(appname)}
Forces translation of the next button command in the context of the
application section specified by appname rather than by what application
currently has Windows focus.

If no parameter is given, {mode()}, the forced mode is canceled and command
tranlsation is done by automatic section selection according to which
application has Windows focus.

My question is the actual functionality of this command. That is to say that if I set this command as such:

Code:
[Default] 1={mode(GB-PVR)} ... [GB-PVR] 1={findwnd(GB-PVR)}1

When 1 is pushed the first time will the GB-PVR section be called and the command for 1 from there executed, or will ir.exe simply be told to look at the GB-PVR section for the next button pushed? And on subsequent button pushes; will only the [GB-PVR] section be called or will the program go through its normal execution on the third button press?

Thanks for the help.

  Newbie seeking some basic info
Posted by: fallacy - 2007-01-20, 04:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hello all,

I don't have cable, digital or other, instead i have several vhs tapes that I'd like to digitize. I've got a very old capture card "ATI all in wonder 16 meg" on a respectable pc 1.8 ghz amd, asus board, and 1.4 gigs or ram. It's old, but it serves me. From what I can tell, my vid card isn't even in the list of cards in the software, but i'm hoping there's a work around. I have the equipment I need to record, ( the purple cable that connects my video card to whatever medium I choose and i"ve successfully installed the software. I just don't know how to work it. Again, I just want to convert vhs to digital on my machine. Avi preferrably, but i'll settle for mpeg.

If there's a tutorial out there that would be even better..

Fallacy.

Does GB-PVR record DVB signals as-broadcast?
Posted by: sjgore - 2007-01-20, 03:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hello,

This is probably a silly question, but I was wondering if GB-PVR records DVB broadcasts exactly as transmitted (ie. does it record the transmitted MPEG signal straight to disk), or does it encode the video again?

Steve.

Play avi from windows share and I get intermittant stuttering
Posted by: shadowze - 2007-01-20, 02:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

HI,
I playback avi files using gb pvr from another PC using windows file sharing but I have issues with stuttering / glitches every few mins ( average 10 mins or so )
When I play the same files back using media player classic they play without incident , is there anything I can do to allevaite this problem?
The files are 350MB in size and are 40 min shows so I dont think its a bandwidth issue ( PC are connected via a 100M lan link thru a hub ) , is there something I need to tweak to sort this ?

Version 98.13b

Many thanks for taking the time to read this

  DVB-s not all channels
Posted by: tomlissen - 2007-01-20, 02:25 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (33)

Hey Guys,

First of all thank you for this excellent software.

The only problem I am having ATM is that with a scan of transponders, not all channels are found. From within one transponder some channels are found and some are not.

Other dvb software on th same machine with the same card etc.. scans the same trasponder list and finds these channels..

Any suggestions??

Thanx

  unhandled exception at first startup
Posted by: torsten - 2007-01-20, 09:45 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi everyone,

I am new here and also new to GB-PVR and immediately run into trouble...

(1) Background:
I do have a PIII-900 System with 720 MB RAM and 320 GB HDD, old Nvidia TNT2, Medion 9717 (KNC1-SAA7134-derivative) and want to use the machine in the future as home server (files, printers, fax, scanner) and PVR. I am aware that the machine is not at todays level of computing power - however Interviceos DVDrecorder runs fine and thats all I need in terms of functionality.
Now it would be best to also have a beautiful GUI to connect the box to the TV as DVD-Player, Video-Player and whatever. Thus I am currently screening the various free media center packages.
So far - GB-PVR seems to be the most customizable one of those with analogue support (via the WDM-plugin) and which do not explicitely say to run only on 2GHz+ machines.
So - tried to instal land test it - et voila - an error:
I did install the MDAC 2.6 and .Net-Framework 2.0 from M$ and the GB-PVR in c:\programme\mediacenter\gbpvr. After the wizard ends, it tries to start the config program. Which never sees the screen but instead throws an unhandled exception - Details text at the end of this message.
When I hit Quit - ok, its over. When I hit continue it starts the config program with lots of empty pull-down-fields (nothing to select there) - and comes back all the time with the same style unhandled exception.

Now I need help: I am not familiar (yet) with the .Net-error-message-system and how to analyze those. What is running wrong.
Just deinstall/reinstall of GBPVR does not help - same message again.

Thanks for any help!!!

Torsten

PS: just installed the original 0.99.05-Package - no langaue support or plugins.

Need help with WinXPSP2/ATI HDTV Wonder Installation
Posted by: jwells777 - 2007-01-20, 09:25 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I can't seem to get this software running with my system.

System specs:

Athlon64 3000+
WinXP SP2
ATI HDTV Wonder
nVidia 6600GT

I can't seem to get the live tv to work. If I allow the auto searching for channels, it shows several channels as having signal and quality > 80. Then it says that no channels were found. I have tried to manually input the channel number with the form 59,59,1 for the local FOX DT feed. If I do this, the system just seems to lock up when I navigate to the live tv section. This channel works correctly under the supplied ATI software.

At any rate, I was really hoping that someone could offer some help on how to get this system running since this seems to be exactly what I am looking for to replace my ReplayTV from the analog world. Unfortunately, I have been finding the help documentation very difficult to navigate.

Thanks,

j

  No sound in YouTube
Posted by: MrGypsy - 2007-01-20, 04:32 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Howdy - I just downloaded the .99.5 after a installing a new chip/motherboard in my computer, and doing a fresh windows install.
I was excited to see YouTube on there, however, I'm not getting any sound at all (I do get just a blip of "electronic" sound at the start of the video, about .2 seconds worth). The video part plays just fine.
Using a Hauppage PVR-350.

The PVR350.mpg file created (when played via video library) does the same thing - just the electronic blip, so I'm guessing it's in the encoding.

I tried out LiveTV, and it works fine. Recorded mpegs in my video library work fine. Playing MP3's also works fine, just no sound at all out of YouTube.

Checked all my volume control adjustments and they're all above half volume, none muted.

Any suggestions on what to check next would be appreciated.

Thanks again for the excellent software, sub. Smile

A side note: I'm also not getting any NetRadio to work - it doesn't seem to connect to any stations, just keeps saying "Trying: [and the web address here]" (no firewall installed yet so that's not an issue). I think it's unrelated though and have yet to look into it myself.
