DVD problems and FM Radio problems
Posted by: pvrproblems - 2007-01-21, 12:54 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hello all;

I'm just setting up gbpvr and am having two problems.

First Problem. I don't have a DVD button in the main menu. Never have. I updated some video drivers and install some software (Nero) that came with my DVD to get a DVD to play in WMP.

DVD is listed, and checked, in the plugins tab.
I'm using a Hauppauge 350.

Here are my settings.
Navigator: DVD Navigator
Video Decoder: System Default
Audio Decoder: InterVideo NonCSS Audio Decoder
Audio Renderer: System Default
The 'Show DVD Button' is checked.

Second Problem. FM Radio doesn't work. "Failed to communicate with the recording service".

Also, I have two questions.

1) Do I need a sound card for any reason?
2) dbpvr seems slow to respond to commands. Changing channels is particularly slow. Perhaps 3 or 4 seconds when I'm stepping through channels. Sometimes it even locks up. Because this installation is really a test, the hardware is pretty weak. I'm running an AMD K6-3D, 500MHZ, and 384 MB Ram. Would running better hardware cause it to change channels faster or is the slowness just a limitation of the Hauppauge 350?

Regards

New guy, totally lost. How to update EPG?
Posted by: Johnny Lugnuts - 2007-01-20, 11:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hi everyone! Smile

I've a new PC with an Asus P7131 tuner card running on XP Home, but I'm completely lost!

I don't care for the Cyberlink software that came with it and would like to give GB-PVR a try.

I've installed the software, but the configuration is waaay beyond me. I've updated a couple of .ini files and my card is now recognized, but that's as far as I can go. I'm unsure of what the EPG source and the recording source should be set to. What is an XMLTV file?

Any help out there?

Thanks a lot!

Johnny

method not found error and others
Posted by: soccerdad - 2007-01-20, 11:32 PM - Forum: UbuStream, Web Radio and Universe - Replies (6)

I have just started trying to get UbuStream working. You have great documentation and how to threads but I am missing some things, I am sure they are very basic but this streaming stuff somehow frys my brain

First, I will let you know what I am trying to do. I have another application that can stream out on UDP on 235.1.1.1 port 1234. It streams a MPEG2 TS.

I set it to broadcast and in VLC media player I can see the stream if I configure the network stream to UDP/RTP Multicast to 235.1.1.1 and in advanced options check stream/save and have it play locally. I then saved the config as a playlist called vlc.

Doing this I can open the playlist and it opens vlc to show what is on the stream.

I eventually want to get it to stream over to my MVP but for now, I would love just to get it in GBPVR!

This is where I am not sure if I am doing it correctly. I configured a station to point to the URL of the m3u playlist I configured in VLC. ("C:\Documents and Settings\Dad\My Documents\vlc.m3u") Since there is no website, I left that on blank. I chose VLC as my media player.

In media players I have VLC setup by pointing it to "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" and full screen to "-f"

When I start GBPVR and select the plugin I see "all stations and ungrouped" If I select ANYTHING I get an error : Error : Method not found : Boolean gbpvr.elements.list.setselected (int32).

Then I tried to setup channel mode and did a full cut and paste of the MVP sticky thread. When I try to launch the channel it opens a dialog box and the recording tray icon turns green, but nothing happens. Everything then locks up and I have to quit gbpvr by closing it from the tray.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.Rolleyes

  client not working
Posted by: rlbond - 2007-01-20, 11:24 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I'm having issues with setting up the client for gpbvr. When I select a recording to play, the program freezes, both in streaming and filesharing mode. I've tried VMR9, VMR7, and overlay, all with the same results. I've attached my logs, does anyone know what's wrong?

  updating EPG
Posted by: metal - 2007-01-20, 10:54 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I made a batch file to update my EPG each time I boot my computer. All my update is ok but it looks like GBPVR doesn't recongnized any folder after that. I have to restart GBPVR to be able to have access to all my folders with the software. If I only start GBPVR with my bacth file all is ok but I have to make the EPG update manualy each time.

  USB-to-Serial adaptor stops working
Posted by: dinki - 2007-01-20, 09:57 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hey guys, I've been having trouble with my USB-to-Serial (Prolific) adaptor that I use to control my DirecTV receiver. On boot up, it works fine and I'd say it works fine for a day, maybe two. I'm not really sure when it stops working, but at some point, the PC can't communicate with the DTV box. Upon restarting the machine, all is well again.

Does anyone know of a 'keep alive' script that I can use to ping the DTV box every few hours if a better solution to this problem can not be discovered?

Thanks!

Trouble w/ Hauppauge PVR2 Quality Settings...
Posted by: dejunai - 2007-01-20, 08:22 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Hauppauge PVR2 Quality Settings...

I have had continual issue with the PVR2 USB2 and it's settings for A/V bitrate.

GB-PVR will under no circumstance actually affect the Quality...
I have tried numerous approaches, from editing the XML, to setting the
default, editing the Qualities via Config... etc... No matter the action I take,
The PVR2 USB2 utterly ignores the change in settings... grrr... Smile

Then while experimenting with VLC's ability to play from a capture device...
I discovered it's interface to the Hauppauge PVR2 USB2 settings...
And Finalllllllly I have some control over the actual device. Tho, to be honest,
The device defaults back to Constant 6000 after any reboot...

So basically before making a High Quality recording I hafta configure
the device with VLC, and for all the obvious reasons: I also have to reset it
back the lower Quality...

I have scripted some AutoIt functions... to deal with the issue.
And can manually schedule them in the Task Manager...
Not a perfect solution by any means...

So the Question is, does anyone else have similar issues with the PVR2?
I did do a search, but couldn't find anything relevant.. Which is likely
a critic on my choice of keywords... If it has been brought up before...
I apologize. And if it has been solved, I'd appreciate a nudge in the right
direction.

Thanks in Advance,
-Dejunai

No Channels Have Been Set Up - zap2it
Posted by: 14me24u - 2007-01-20, 07:31 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I'm a new user with a fresh install of 0.99.5. I'm running XP, with a K-world atsc 110. The card has been working with beyondtv, but the app was a hog so I'm looking for alternatives. I'm just trying to get the analog cable channels working for now, the ATSC will come later...

The problem is that when I try to go to the "Live TV" window I see the error message "No channels have been set up. Please run the Configuration utility and setup the EPG source. Use the 'Update EPG' button to force the system to import the latest set of channel and programme information."

The log shows
1/20/2007 1:10:13 PM.406 INFO [1] LiveTVStreamPlayer.initialize()
1/20/2007 1:10:13 PM.421 VERBOSE [1] exception: GBPVR.Backend.Common.GbpvrException: No channels have been set up. Please run the Configuration utility and setup the EPG source. Use the 'Update EPG' button to force the system to import the latest set of channel and programme information.

After scouring the message boards I tried the the GBPVRBackendCommon.dll patch from 12-29 6:19version 1.0.2554.32861. No change in the results. Do I need to reregister this file? I just renamed the prev version and dropped this one in then rebooted.

The config logs seem to show that I'm getting the channel lineup from Zap2it ok, but I never see any program listings show up after the loadSchedule entry; I don't know if I should.

1/20/2007 1:01:16 PM.421 VERBOSE [3] RecordingFactory.loadSchedule()
1/20/2007 1:01:16 PM.421 VERBOSE [3] getValue cached value: /settings/AutoRemoveMissingRecordings : true

I can see my account in zap2it, zip 68135 using qwest cable.

One last detail that may help, after performing the update in the EPG the channel lineup shows, but none of the checkboxes are enabled. If I check the checkboxes and repeat the pull they uncheck themselves.

Logs are attached.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

  Can't playback while recording
Posted by: finnvt - 2007-01-20, 07:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I've had a problem that popped up a while back, which prevents me from playing a file if it's still in the process of being recorded. It will load the video file and go to a black screen at just sit at time=0. I can play the file with other media players, so it's just GBPVR that's having the playback problem.

This has also, I think, now caused problems with the YouTube plugin. For some reason, I don't think it ever realizes it's done downloading (either trying to play too soon, or writing to the file not being closed?). So I can get sound, but no video. In the native log, I get the following warning:

14:11:48.390 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase::playVideoFile(E:\Recordings\VMR9.mpg)
14:11:48.390 VERBOSE File already in use - probably still recording
14:11:48.421 VERBOSE waited: 0 (0 - 1169320308) filesize: 0
14:11:48.437 VERBOSE Sleeping for 0ms to give file a chance to grow

The error message makes it sound like not being able to play while recording is perfectly normal, but I'm nearly positive I could do this at some point in the past. So, any ideas why (1) I can't playback during recording, and (2) it seems to think the youtube videos are still being recorded? Thanks!

How should I set up for ATI HDTV100 (USB)
Posted by: Irishman - 2007-01-20, 06:19 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

This USB device looks a lot like the Pinnacle PCTV USB stick device. It comes bundled with its own software, which is not so great. How should I set up GBPVR to work with this device? Any suggestions?

Here is the mfg site:

I am new to this, so please forgive me.

Thanks.
