I have been trolling around but can't seem to find what i am looking for.
I have two goals and any help on any of them would be appreciated.
1) Rip my purchased DVDs to HDD. (best quality/smallest size/playable by
MVP)
2) Record SD television to HDD using PVR150 (best quality/smallest size/playable by MVP)
I have a 36" SD TV and an ONKYO A/V receiver connected to the MVP. I don't yet have the cash to build a full HTPC or an HDTV to hook it up to.
I am using the latest GBPVR 99.5?
I have downloaded all kinds of software (yes, some of it has nothing to do with what i am trying to do) Gordian KNot, Mplayer/Mencoder, ffdshow, ac3filter, dvd decrypter, VLC, VirtualDub, VOB2MPG. All I have acheived is confusion. Im interested in learning about encoding and translating, demuxing and resyncing, but I can't find a place to start.
I record with the PVR150 (HIGH setting) it creates an MPG (2Gb+ for an hour show) which plays fine, but I am running out of disk, i need a better but not overly complex solution.
After several evenings trying to learn hip and how to make it work with GBPVR I am finally making some progress. I have a pvr150(MCE kit version) and am finding that CCF codes for my coolsat 5000 are working much better for the STB receiving the IR blast properly than learning codes to HIP or GBPVR. However, the problem I am having is that the blasts are being repeated multiple times in the IR test in HIP and when using it in GBPVR via HIP. I have the test IR set to 0 repeats but the key will be blasted 3 or 4 times. I am really hoping to fix this as I am having much better consistency with the CCF codes than I am with the learned codes blast.
Joost⢠provides a new way of watching TV that combines the best of full-screen television entertainment with online interactive and community benefits to bring an unprecedented selection of video content to viewers anytime, anywhere. Joost is based on a state-of-the-art, secure, peer-to-peer streaming technology.
Joost⢠is a new way of watching TV on the internet, which uses new and established technologies to provide the best of both the internet and TV worlds. We're in the process of making it as TV-like as we can, with programmes, channels and adverts. You can also see some things that we think will enhance the TV experience: searching for programmes and channels, for example, as well as social features like chat. There are many more new features to come
Currently, channels are like playlists of videos. You can flip between channels, or use the programme guide to choose a channel or a video to watch. The channels start when you play them and not at any particular day or time. If you let them continue they will loop round to the beginning again. If you change channel and then switch back again, you'll start at the beginning of the programme again. In later versions we will have different kinds of channels, including ones that behave more like ordinary TV channels. Occasionally, you may see an advert.
Can I use this card with either Windows Vista or Windows XP Pro x64?
Since ADM took over ATI, there is no support for either O/S for me to be able to use the video capture capabilities of the card, that I can find.
First off let me just say that your program is great. I have been using it since you first made it and I probably wouldn't be using gbpvr or the MediaMVP without it.
Now for my problem: I just recently upgraded gbpvr to the latest version without un-installing my previous version first. It installed fine and everything seemed to be working correctly except for ZProcess. So I downloaded the latest version of it and re-installed it. It too seemed to be working fine except for I got no sound when i tired to play videos. So i un-installed everything and started over again. Even with this fresh install I still have no sound. Usually I don't even need to change any settings @ all within ZProcess and it transcodes my movies perfectly. Information on the specific options to mess with to fix this problem would be appreciated. Peace
Hello all,
my configuration is a Win 2k system with a Hauppauge PVR350 capture card and a Matrox G400 for the TV Out.
Now I must switch to digital sat and have a small problem.
The capture card (Hauppauge NOVA-S plus) needs XP
So I must change my OS and now I must decide "XP or XP MCE".
Now I have the following questions :
- can I use GB-PVR on both..XP and XP-MCE ?
- can I setup GB-PVR to use the MCE remote ?
- can I use the MCE remote on a NON MCE installation (just buy it as stand-alone) ?
- I know that MCE cannot play video or DVD on the G400 due to the DirectX9 reasons, but can I use the G400 with GB-PVR also on the XP MCE or are there restrictions ?
Some simple "YES" or "NO" is enough....the questions on the technical details will follow
Maybe the major question is :
Is it worth to install MCE or is GB-PVR much more better and MCE is not worth the higher price (about 45 Euros) ?
I'm looking to build my first HTPC system. My requirements are pretty low. One thing I'd like is good hardware encoding so I can record shows without killing the system.
I'm looking through the forums and it appears quite a few folks use the Hauppage PVR 150 cards. From my experience (in just straight video cards) ATI has a pretty solid track record (I had an All-In-Wonder way back in the day and it worked well).
Price isn't too much of a factor.
So, what's a good card? (would you choose a PVR 150 (or 500 if you had the $$$) or go with an ATI card? or NVidia?)
Jeremy
P.S. For what it's worth this system will be in a AMD 1800 MHz system with 1 GB of RAM and an ATI 9600SE video card.
For example, Family Guy plays on cartoon network, FOX, and TBS. It shouldn't be such a hassle to set up 3 different shedules to record all of them! I think in addition to the option to record the show any time on that channel, there should be an option to record it any time.
