pausing live tv - possible error- not urgent
Posted by: kayak4ever - 2007-01-19, 01:25 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Should I be concerned about the following information I found by looking in the statistics in EWA? I checked my D: drive which is where I store my recordings and sure enough, I don't have a directory called D:\LivePauseTemp However, I don't know if I need one or what it would be used for. The GBPVR program is on the C: drive in a directory called C:program files\devns\gbvpvr. Note that I haven't observed a problem with how GBpvr is working or what part of the program or plugin caused the error; it's just that it seems as if I should try to eliminate the error if I can.

  transcoding from 5.3gig to 4.5gig
Posted by: toomanyhandles - 2007-01-18, 11:54 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Ok, I made an error and recorded something I wanted to burn to DVD (single layer) in high quality; and the total recording is 5.5gig.

What the best way to get the highest quality single-layer recording?

I can buy a dual-layer blank, but the end user will play back in a set-top DVD player and I am unsure of -R compatibility for dual-layer, as I read playback on settops for homemade dual-layer can have mixed success.

I have the 350 and DVD-burning apps that came with that, plus NEro Pro 7 or so, if that information helps.

Thanks for help!

I am going to be using the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-350 card. Will this even work with dish network?

  TV Stutter
Posted by: kitcho - 2007-01-18, 10:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

Hi, im having problems with watching Live Tv. When i first start GB-PVR the Live Tv works fine, but after watching for about 10mins, it stutters for a few seconds, then loses Audio/Video sync. The only way to get it working again, is the restart the program, but after 10mins of watching again, the problem happens again. Ive tried different codecs, but the problem occurs on every one.

Can anyone help please.

Many thanks

  Simple Comskip question
Posted by: moymike - 2007-01-18, 08:45 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Every so often, I have a recorded show that won't skip commercials. When this occurs, I've been moving the show along with the comskip files to my videos folder, where it then skips commercials as expected.

I am playing the shows on my MVP, and using the '999' code on the remote, I can see the commercials toggle in and out of the timeline.

I have had limited success with hitting the "play" button on the remote to skip to the end of a set of marked commercials, but I think this only works when comskip is toggled off and the commercial is playing. Either way, it does not do anything on a recording when comskip is toggled on, and the commercial does not skip.

The fact that moving the file with it's comskip .txt files to the video folder allows the comskip to work, suggests that somewhere something is being stored in the database for the recording that is blocking the comskip from working.

My question is, how to you get comskip to work on a recording once it is in this state? Is there some toggle like the '999' code that will get it working again?

Community Skin-WS proof of concept ready.
Posted by: Fatman_do - 2007-01-18, 08:05 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (18)

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Skin-...mmunity-WS

Compatible with the SkinPlugin and image set included in the Community Skin 4:3 version with the following exceptions:

* Not compatible with 4:3 themes. (Do Not choose them, they will overwrite the 16:9 files!)
* Not compatible with “TV Guide Layout, SkinMods, Baseskins*, and Main Menu changing options. (16:9 versions will be needed).

*It is possible that baseskin selections may work, have not tested this to see how they will look.

Only default GB-PVR “stuff” supported right now.

Just playing around with the idea. It may look like crap since I don't have a 16:9 HD set. Let me know what is good/bad/ugly about it.

BTW it is 1280x720

Failure playing back file in HDTV Recordings
Posted by: Niebs - 2007-01-18, 06:41 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have moved this from the " Supporting the OnAir USB HDTV GT - Issues" thread in the Hardware Forum.

When I select an HD recording I get the message "Error: Failure playing back file". I am running v0.99.5.

I am currently using the "TS MUX" and I can play back the recording with Windows Media Player. I get the same results with "DVR-MS" muxer.

I have tried all three of my Video Decoder settings (System Default (DecChecker says it is the NVIDIA Video Decoder), Intervideo NonCSS Video Decoder and NVIDIA Video Decoder). Which of these should I be using?

I loaded the latest decoder update from Hauppauge.

I have thought about updating the NVIDIA Video Decoder but it looks like I would have to purchase NVIDIA Pure Video. I may try a trial version if I don't get any other ideas.

I am stumped and in over my head. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Subsequent recordings with multiple tuners
Posted by: johnvk - 2007-01-18, 05:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

My system is equipped with three tuners (one 150MCE and one 500MCE) and padding defaults to -1 and +7 minutes. All works like a charm and I am able to record multiple channels at the same time.

But, since I've upgraded to 99.05 I notice this strange problem.
Subsequent shows on the same channel are not recorded using 2 tuners, yet are recorded with the same tuners (and thus not using the padding in between).

However, I expected (and thought it worked that way in an old release) that because of the padding, multiple tuners would be used recording the adjacent shows.

Any thoughts?

John

  Screen Saver Replacement/Enhancement
Posted by: HydroChronic - 2007-01-18, 05:21 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

Hey Guys,

Last night I was surfing around the GBPVR wiki and I thought I stumbled across a plugin or utility that added a custom screen saver as an option.

The screen saver simulated a bunch of particles and a gravity well, as well as other settings. I didn't download the plugin (stupid) and now I can't find it. If I remember correctly the screen saver was an additional feature, not the primary feature.

Did I dream this up (cause it was really late) or did I actually find a plugin like this?
