  General Support (please help me)
Posted by: marcusfinlay87 - 2007-01-16, 02:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I have a V-Stream XPERT DTV-DVB-T PCI Tv Card, and have recently downloaded GBPVR. After mapping the digital channels, which it comes up with all, at good strength and quality, when i go to watch them through 'live tv' nothing comes up???? When it does, it freezes. Signal strength should be absolutely fine, and my computer should be more than capable of handling the request.

I'm new to all this, so help would be greatly appreciated.

Problems Setting up my PVR250 on GBPVR 0.99.5 version
Posted by: blkwls - 2007-01-16, 01:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (22)

Hi,
Im using a hauppage PVR 250 pci card and getting a feed off my sky box.
Ive just installed GBPVR ver 0.99.5, and ive installed xmltvgui_3.07.00W to get the channels.
Ive set up what i think is correct in the settings, but i dont seem to be getting a signal when i go to watch a channel, just a screen of what looks like no signal( black and white fuzz)Sad
I use wintv2000 and that is getting a signal and picture, so i can only assume its the settings that are out a bit.
Does anybody have default settings that i can try please or any help at all would be niceSmile
Thanks

I'm useless - Freecom DVB stick
Posted by: juice05 - 2007-01-16, 01:13 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Yup look through the threads before posting this.

Installed drivers from freecom to get the device to read. Went to config followed previous posts:
BDA recordign plugin selected frecom device 1

Selected bleb (UK) for epg source. Updated and then enabled channels.

Clicked map channels and it just errors me saying check GB PVR unable to start the BDA device check its all configured and not in use. Then fed me the following debug details... See attachment.

Thanks

What is needed for HDTV reception?
Posted by: Barsk - 2007-01-16, 10:11 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi,

I wonder what is really needed for reception of HDTV?

Do I need to get a special version of a DVB-T card or is my Twinhan DVB-T good for the task? I understand I need a H.264 decoder as well as HDTVPump.

Regards
Barsk

A wish directed at new users

A wizard that checks your system and set the system with a couple of questions. For me I have no trouble but I think the market for GBpvr would be bigger with a simpler installation. To set the tv-card can be trouble if you're not a experienced user. You have to go through a lot of steps to get it done:

1. Go to Capture sources.

2. choose "add".

3. Choose recording source. Here is a lot users lost. I have a card, but "I" have no clue of what kind it is. In my case, I now know it's a bda, as I get it in the list when I choose that... Even without a wizard a lot can be done for this part.
* GBpvr can check windows regional settings and display country etc.
* The card can be visible in recording source drop down.

4. Choose epg source so that you can scan for possible stations. To take me as example again. I have to add, close, edit, fiddle little, close again, edit and now it's maybe possible to search for channels.

For a beginner you just want it to work! And I think you loose a lot in this part. As a new user you just want it to work as fast as possible and all tweaking and adding plugins can be done later after you have familiarized yourself with the system.

PVR-USB2 to AverTV Purity Remote Questions
Posted by: Trips - 2007-01-16, 07:42 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

I've had my gbpvr box setup for some time now but I'm still experimenting with hardware. My setup is DirecTV hooked to WinTV-PVR-USB2 via S-Video then the htpc is hooked to my TV via DVI-HDMI connection. Using my Harmony remote things work out fairly easily by just switching between devices on the remote.

I'm not real happy with the picture quality I get with the setup I have now. Hooking the dish directly to the s-video connection on the tv gives me a much better picture. I'm seriously thinking of switching to the AverTV Purity 250 but I'm not real sure what to do about the remote. If I get rid of the PVR-USB2 I'll lose my IR receiver. What would I need to make gbpvr work exactly like it does now without the WinTV device?

Ultimately I'd like to get the htpc hooked up to the dish receiver via usb so that I can control the dish with my computer. I'd like to get picture quality that I'm happy with before I put any more time and money into other things though.

Sorry for the long winded post. Any thoughts or comments on what I'm trying to do or could be doing better are appreciated.

  help with VB2005
Posted by: Azimuth - 2007-01-16, 07:35 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (14)

I know this is an odd thing to post in here (and I hope sub or anyone else doesn't kick me for it)
Believe me, I have tried posting in many forums with either no replies or silly responses such as "code in linux not windows"
anyway, this forum has the nicest people, and I'm sure many avid coders.
so please, if you can, help Smile

I have been trying to understand listview controls in VB2005 and can't seem to grasp the syntax.

Imagine a PO application needs to list rows with: Qty | Object | Description | price
on the form.
I have been able to populate the listview, however, I need to allow users to either remove rows or edit them. This is where I have been unable to create valid syntax.

It would be a great help if anyone is able to help me.

Sometimes when I use FF it scans, and i cant get normal playback back.
Posted by: Toe Fu Ninja - 2007-01-16, 07:09 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Just want to start by saying THANK YOU FOR GBPVR!!!!!

To bad I got the TV first then learned about it, or I may have not got the WinTV-PVR350. Seeing as Sub said he no longer supports it.

Im sure this problem has been discussed before but im having a rough time finding a thread.

Sometimes when I start skipping ahead it will scan ahead instead... and I will continously scan untill i hit pause.. then it pauses. But i cant get it to start playing again at normal speed. Tried the play button on the remote but nothing changes. I can hit skip backwards and it scans backwards forever until i hit another button.

Its not like it does this all the time. But its happend a couple of times. If i close the GBPVR window and reopen it its fine again.. but then ive lost my spot on the show. And, (probably cause i dont know how to use it) I cant find the show i was pausing in any of the main menu areas. So if i want to keep it i need to move the file from my pvr directory before GBPVR deletes it. But then its not still recording so I cant keep watching past when i had to shut it down. (i would assume there is another way but I just figured moving the files out of the PVR directory would be a temporary workaround so i can atleast watch what i recorded)

Any ideas would be wonderful!

p.s. I replaced the NativeUtilities.dll file to fix the no picture when paused issue. And Im using InterVideo Non-CSS/VMR9 Custom to fix the no OSD at certain times. Seems to work great with full OSD everywhere now. But just this one problem that right now seems to happen at random (could be a method to this madness i assume, i just cant tell right now).
