Just want to start by saying THANK YOU FOR GBPVR!!!!!

To bad I got the TV first then learned about it, or I may have not got the WinTV-PVR350. Seeing as Sub said he no longer supports it.

Im sure this problem has been discussed before but im having a rough time finding a thread.

Sometimes when I start skipping ahead it will scan ahead instead... and I will continously scan untill i hit pause.. then it pauses. But i cant get it to start playing again at normal speed. Tried the play button on the remote but nothing changes. I can hit skip backwards and it scans backwards forever until i hit another button.

Its not like it does this all the time. But its happend a couple of times. If i close the GBPVR window and reopen it its fine again.. but then ive lost my spot on the show. And, (probably cause i dont know how to use it) I cant find the show i was pausing in any of the main menu areas. So if i want to keep it i need to move the file from my pvr directory before GBPVR deletes it. But then its not still recording so I cant keep watching past when i had to shut it down. (i would assume there is another way but I just figured moving the files out of the PVR directory would be a temporary workaround so i can atleast watch what i recorded)

Any ideas would be wonderful!

p.s. I replaced the NativeUtilities.dll file to fix the no picture when paused issue. And Im using InterVideo Non-CSS/VMR9 Custom to fix the no OSD at certain times. Seems to work great with full OSD everywhere now. But just this one problem that right now seems to happen at random (could be a method to this madness i assume, i just cant tell right now).

I'm a bit confused to whether you use FF or skip Smile In your header you say FF, and in your text you say skip. I will assume you use FF, because that's when these things typically occur.

So, to be brief, most decoders (all?) have issues with FF, in one way or another. The only thing that can really be done is to
a) find a decoder that has so little issues that you can live with it (hard way)
b) in config app, set "use short skip instead of FF/RWD" (or something like that) (prefered, easy way).

When using b), you can set how may seconds will be skipped when using FF/RWD. I think default is 10 seconds.

ok well im new to this. Im clicking the >| button to skip (or FF whatever it is) ahead 1 min. But when it starts happening (meaning it scans indefinitly, video moving fast, instead of jumping one min and still playback normal), I can click >> (to presumably skip a few seconds) and it still scans.

Now I think the default setting is to have a check in the box for "use short skip instead of FF/RW". Seeing as I dont ever remember making changes to that screen, and its already checked.

dont mean to sound tooooo stupid (or maybe i do Smile ), but is FF the same as Scan? or are Skip, Scan and FF all different?

I want to click >| to jump 1 min and still normal playback.. and >> to jump 10 (or whatever) seconds with normal playback... But as I said it doesnt do this all the time just everynow and then.. and now that i think about it even more maybe it happens more after I've paused it for a while (possible even longer than the show im pauseing) and then I start watching. I hit >| to jump past commericals. After a commerical break or two it happened (the last time it happened that what happened)...

Let's look at this image: http://ctpvr.com/images/cttvrsil.gif
Don't mind the keyboard reference, it's for another software and hence irrelevant. The >| is "skip", and the >> is "FF". It's the >> that has the issues I mentioned above. The Skip usually doesn't. I'm not sure I can help you, but maybe someone else can.

Regarding your question about scan/ff/skip, I'm not sure where "scan" fits in the picture. You are the one who brought it up Wink

Funny my remote has the word skip written once but its next to both >| and >> button , making it vague as to which button it is labeling.

So I guess since apparently scan is not a word we use here, I guess scan and FF are the same.

Also, when i say i click >> or >| it could be on the OSD or the remote as i use them interchangingly, could that be an issue?

Now, then... on a slightly different note. If I am useing >> (FF) , then the video should be moving ahead fast right? (sounds like scan to me). Should it keep moving ahead fast until i hit another button or only while i have the button held down? What do I hit to get normal playback while its moving ahead fast? the play button (>) on the remote didnt do anything, and there is no play button on the OSD. What is the correct mapping for the ini file for the play button? maybe i can check that. (yes i going through the WinTV IR). Right now if i hit >> on the OSD it seems to only speed up the video (FF) for a second or so then back to normal. If I try to hold the click down on >> same result. and same result if i do it with the remote. (actually ive seen no difference at all between using the OSD and the remote)
