Music plugin(s) and large music libraries
Posted by: sjbirk - 2006-12-28, 05:17 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (10)

This thread is more of a status check on the GBPVR community in terms of the use of a music plugin for a very large music collection/library (30+ gigs). I use iTunes to control categorizing my music; artist\album\track. Current music plugins take forever to parse my collection. How do each of you (who have large collections) get around this? Which plugins do you use and/or how do you configure them?

I'd prefer not mucking with my current directory structure of music.

DVB EPG Broadcast Problems on Hauppauge DVB-T
Posted by: Missionary Man - 2006-12-28, 05:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (41)

GB-PVR: v0.99.5

I have a Hauppauge DVB-T PCI card (9002) installed, and am using the DVB EPG Broadcast source for my program details.

My card has detected a load of channels, and I've mapped 15 to the EPG list. These have all got relevant tuning data attributed to them.

When running the EPG update, I can pull down most but not all of my channel data. The following ones fail, and they're all on the same digital channel.

ITV1
ITV2
ITV3
More 4
Film4 + 1

Oddly enough, Channel 4 is picked up fine, and this is on the same channel as the ones above (T:C28,529834,0,0,8)

Anyone got any advice or help to offer?

Thanks.

  Freezing Frames

I am using a Diamond USB 660 and it worked fine the first recording, but ever since the recorded programs are pausing and jumping ahead. It also is pretty choppy overall, any suggestions. One other problem, the commerical skip tends to skip over a majority of certain programs any solutions?

  'Saved Videos' in Youtube plugin?
Posted by: stu8080 - 2006-12-28, 04:17 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

Sub, I like the new Youtube plugin, its handy when im bored and downloads files in a few seconds.

What would be very handy is to be able to save certain mpg's for later viewing, maybe under a favourites tab?

Would this be useul to anyone else? Would it be feasable?

  GBPVR Call Home
Posted by: bdgbill - 2006-12-28, 03:18 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

I think it would be cool to be able to enable GBPVR to regularly upload error and usage data to a central server.

This may be useful for Sub to see what features people are using most, most common hardware profiles etc.

If some or all of this data was made available it would also allow a plug-in to be written which would make Amazon-like reccomendations. e.g. GBPVR users who recorded "Hobbits Gone Wild" also recorded "Allblacks vs. Osperys".

This would be a good replacement for the only feature Tivo has that GBPVR does not, their "Tivo reccomends" functionality.

I know a lot of people don't like software that calls home but as long as it's easy to opt out in config, I dont see how it could be a problem.

  .99.5 update issues
Posted by: Ron22 - 2006-12-28, 02:40 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have a few issues with my updating from .96.? to .99.5. I used the convertdatabase to convert to sqlite.
All of my recordings are meesed up. There are two entrys for every recording. First one will have the name and discription second one will be same date and time but say manual recording.
When it recorded two show last night it put them in the manual recording directory.
I also showed an extra capture card installed (PV250)I do not know if these two are related becuase I belive the info for the capture card is in the config.xml and the recording info is in the database.

  Xbox Live
Posted by: groover km - 2006-12-28, 02:00 PM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

I've just bought myself a xbox 360 (woohoo!) - so if anyone here is interested in playing on xbox live, just send me a friend invite. Gamertag is groover km.

Alternatively, I've still got the old xbox but it's not on the network yet; I can set it up if anyone is old school...

I find that www.mxgamers.com is a good, friendly site for 'mature' gamers with spouses, kids, houses, work, etc., etc... like me.

Oh, and also - I suck bigtime at all things video game... Smile

Is anyone using floppydtv and mediamvp with good results?
Posted by: Sheik Yerbouti - 2006-12-28, 01:00 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (9)

Some time ago I purchased a floppydtv dvb-c. I use the Mediamvp to play files recorded with this device, but I keep having problems with skipping in these files. There seems to be something wrong with the timestamps. I've tried several muxes, but none of them seem to solve this problem. I also tried retime and mencoder but this doesn't improve the situation.

Is anyone playing files created with a floppydtv on the mediamvp with good results? If so, what muxer are you using?

  Hauppauge HVR-900 No Video
Posted by: nino - 2006-12-28, 12:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi all

I have managed to find a range of channels using the scanner (when the channel was found it was displayed in the preview window)

My EPG has been updated with the programme information etc however when i go to watch a programme i get a split second of audio then the screen in blank with no video

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Nino

EDIT - Now the software is telling me that the signal strength is not strong enough. both the quality and strength bars are emtpy. This should not be the case as the antenna is external and is usually connected to a digital set top box which recieves all channels without any problems.
