Just yesterday I put in a new(ish) 80Gig hard drive into my HTPC. I've changed the directory that GBPVR points to for recording shows(Config App-> Directories->Recordings Directory) to what is now the E: drive.
However, when I go to a show in GBPVR I only get the options to "Delete", or "Exit". There's no longer a "Play" option.
I have discovered that recent releases of mencoder do not like the edl files generated by Comskip and ShowAnalyzer. Mencoder will skip only the first segment listed in either edl file when trying to transcode the video.
However, when I manually create an edl file using mplayer with the -edlout option it generates the following edl that Mencoder successfully transcodes each delete segment listed.
There is an obvious difference between these edl files even though they are for the same video and nearly the same delete points.
Why the difference between the Comskip/ShowAnalyzer edl's and the manually created Mencoder edl file? Is it possible for Comskip/ShowAnalyzer to output the same type of timing as the manually generated MPalyer edl?
UbuStream v2.0 is now finally available. It's an almost complete rewrite of the original plugin and adds a host of new features. Take a look at these screen shots so you can see some of the things it can do.
If you haven't used UbuStream before, it's a plugin that lets you play web video and audio streams with GB-PVR. You can either pick them from a list (like the media libraries) or you can select them as channels (like live TV).
If you already use UbuStream, your existing station database will be automatically converted to the new format. In addition to the functionality you're already used to, here's just some of the new capabilities:
Organize your stations into groups for ease of navigation.
Instant database synchronization with the Worldwide Media Project. Stations and groups can be automatically downloaded from your personal âfavouritesâ lists on the WWMP web site.
Automatically download on-demand video/audio links. New stations and groups from a variety of web sites (CNN, BBC, etc.) are created in real-time so you always have the most recent streams.
Capture your favourite video clips from YouTube and Google Video as UbuStream stations so you can watch them from GB-PVR.
Automatically import podcasts from your podcast receiver so you can play them with UbuStream.
Import/export station playlists using standard M3U or PLS files (or using UbuStreamâs âextended PLSâ format PLX files).
View a description of the station (or its current media content) before playing it.
View a stationâs schedule web page from the UbuStream menu.
Create media playlists on the fly with the Play Group button.
Delete stations from the database without having to exit GB-PVR.
Option to listen to audio streams with the player hidden. You can view your recordings, scan the TV Guide or check the weather while the station is playing. If you prefer watching visualizations, switch the option off.
Add/change stations without having to restart GB-PVR. The station database is continuously refreshed while the UbuStream plugin runs, so any changes you make using the config app show up instantly.
Standalone configuration console so you don't need to run the GB-PVR config app in order to maintain the UbuStream station database.
Much of the new functionality has been created using a new architecture that extends UbuStream via "Dynamic Source" mini-plugin apps. This architecture is intended to open up the UbuStream platform to allow anyone to write a simple (or complex) app to capture content for use with UbuStream. Some of the Dynamic Source apps included in the v2.0 release have been written by UbuStream users who wanted their favourite media streams to be automatically available.
Installation note: The UbuStream setup program should make installation pretty much a no-brainer but make sure you have the very latest versions of the Common GBPVR Utilities Library and the GBPVR User Elements Library installed (see the UbuStream System Requirements section on the wiki). In particular you must have GbpvrUiElements v0.5 which has only recently been released.

Is anyone using the express versions of VB or C#/C++ to write plugins for GBPVR? I was interested in trying to learn but not enough interest to justify paying hundreds of dollars for a developement platform.:o
i'm using version 0.98.8b with pinnacle DVB-T 200e USB device & CyberLink MPEG Muxer VERSION: 5.0.2022 plugins: shutdown & bleepbloop.
hi sub,
wanted to report 2 problems, the first one i've already solved (still the same, it was a PITA, you or maybe everybody else also might be interested in the general behavior)
first problem started after getting an error upon startup of watching a show through tv-guide (live tv, no timeshifting), the error was something like "cannot get lock on BDA device" (unfortunately, the gbpvr.exe logs are no longer available, can't tell for sure).
after that error, i simply rebooted the machine & checked live tv which was ok. had some recordings scheduled during the following days and every record after that reboot was a mess. what's worse: i've only discovered the problem 2 days after that because only recordings where affected, live tv was still ok.
what did i do to get it fixed?
- checked the logs & wondered why it submited repeatedly a tunning request even during recordings
- switched back to blue skin & checked signal strength on live tv, signal strength was shown as nonexistent
- disconnected the device, rebooted, waited 10 minutes & after that reconnected the device. checked live tv & signal strength was now nearly 100%, recordings after that reboot are ok in general
the resulting recordings where unplayable with GBPVR, Media Player & VLC, to fix them i tried retime, didn't work, multiplexing failed 'cause of glitches in audio file. mencoder at least fixed the glitches so far that GBPVR was able to play them (duration was allways shown as 0:00, so no skipping allowed ), Media Player still couldn't play them, only VLC was able to play them, show accurate duration & allow skipping (the results where not what i would call high quality )
i don't know how you're handling live tv vs. recording (is live tv also using the muxer?) but wouldn't it be less error-prone to submit some tunning request at the beginning of a recording & quit this requests after some time? if it had success that would at least not cause a totally messed up recording, it not, well then it doesn't matter either
since that error occured until i rebooted without USB device connected, i got the following errors

second problem (still open)
i occasionaly still get some minor glitches, again only during recordings & suspect the culprit to be found on that "checking signal stats" taking up to 110ms. what's queer: it almost always happens on the same channel (might happen on other channels in the same stream, have not checked yet as i don't record them). any way to get that fixed or any suggestions?

I have the NVIDIA DualTV and PVR-150, along with the OnAir HDTV-GT. Everything analog works great as far as LiveTV is concerned. As for digital stations, thats another story. If I just fire up GBPVR, when I go to a digital station on LiveTv, I get the "No signal detected. Check cable....." error, with the no bar for quality, full bar for strength underneath. I must then close GBPVR, start the OnAir program and let the picture come up, close OnAir, then restart GBPVR and I will be able to see digital stations via LiveTV. It doesn't seem to matter if I close all the Windows MCE programs or not via administration tools. If I close them when GBPVR is running, it makes no difference. Does GBPVR seek a signal too quickly(then gives the error when it doesn't see one), because OnAir is a bit slow to deliver? If so, can GBPVR be set to seek longer? Any ideas appreciated as this cuts way down on the family user-friendly factor!
