For the past 10 years or so, I've been doing all my TV using three VCR's and a lot of tapes. I am in the process of switching over to the PVR thing, and loving it.
My 'wish' is there to be a way to mark recordings as already watched. I usually save recordings for at least a week, as most my friends know I'm a recording freak. Now with GBPVR, I started with deleting per-show as I watched, then realized I was no longer saving anything.. just in case.
Now I keep shows for a week or so after I watch them, but heck... I'm going to have to keep a list next to the TV to keep track of the things I haven't seen, as opposed to the ones I'm saving.
I may hve found a little bug in the v0.98.13b version of GB-PVR. I am using the default blue skin with no additional plug-ins. Can you check it out?
Here is what I did and the result:
I went to my music library and played an MP3. It begins playing, and a little bar graph begins in the bottom left.
I used the menus to go back to the main, top level menu, and the bar graph is now in the right hand box.
I pressed stop.
Twice my remote has stopped working, but the third time, it continues. This is not the bug I'm suggesting, however.
At this point, in the right hand box, normally the next recordings scheduled will be listed, and scroll by. After pressing stop though, this information is missing.
If I then go into a sub menu such as web radio or music library again, or even recordings, there appears a black square on the lower left of the screen where the original bar graph appeared. If you choose to stream web radio or play a recording, this black square dissapears, and back on the main top level menu the next scheduled recordings begin scrolling by.
I'm guessing that stopping playback of an MP3 while not in the music manager menu stops playback, but the screen state is not being reset the way it should be normally.
The MVP remote control appears to be able to control the TV and cable box, but I can't find any documentation on it. Has anyone had any luck getting the MVP remote to control other devices? If not, any suggestions on how to condense my 2 - 3 remotes to one?
A little bug I noticed with Slimm GB-PVR and the stop recording feature. When GB-PVR is recording and I right-click the Slimm GB-PVR try icon, the "Stop Recording" option is grayed out. However, if I hold my mouse over Stop Recording it for a second or two, it initializes correctly (activates) and displays the shows that are currently being recorded.
Comment/Request:
Also, is there any way to customize or change the start and stop recording bubbles to the way they were in 1.2 beta?
Starting: Most of the time I don't care what else is pending when a recording starts. It might be useful to others, but I don't really like it. I do like that it says how many minutes are remaining.
Stopping: I liked it when it said '... has finished recording Late Night with Conan.'
Sorry if this is a dupe post - I couldn't get the search to return anything.
Software version: 98.13b
I'm getting this error every so often when I try to play a file GB-PVR recorded: Failure playing back file
I know the file is valid because after a reboot it plays fine.
I looked in the logs and saw this:

I have been using GBPVR unchanged for several months. No changes have been made that I know of to the installation or the computer (random microsoft updates possibly??). I started getting this error when trying to watch live tv or watch recordings. I unstalled GBPVR and reinstalled the newest version, along with the newest version of the .net framework. Same problem occurs.
Attached are the my logs. Any help would be appreciated.
Hiya, my Advisor skin would appear to behave differently on the server/client PC than when I view through the MVP. Strange ways that recorded TV plays back if I've been viewing other things before. I could go into depth but wondered first whether I was doing something wrong? Please prompt for more accuracy :p
I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I've been using GB-PVR for maybe a year now, and have been very happy with it so far. But I'm beginning to regret upgrading to 0.98.13. Prior to that, I ran 0.96.12 without problems, but now the following issues haunt me:
Almost every time I close the GB-PVR interface, I get an error message, see attachment. It effectively crashes upon exit, it seems.
Much worse than that, it seems I can no longer use the web interface for much of anything:
Opening tabs such as TV Guide or Episode Search in Firefox 1.5.0.8 may take over a full minute. CPU utilization spikes to 100% during this time, and almost completely freezes the PC. As soon as I abort page loading, the usage goes back down to normal.
Page loading times in Internet Explorer are only slightly longer than normal.
However, whichever browser I use, using the controls on e.g. TV Guide or Episode Search results in a The connection was reset (FF)/ Page cannot be displayed (IE) error message (for example, trying to skip to another timeframe in the Guide, or searching for anything in Episode Search).
So, effectively, I am cut off from scheduling anything from the web interface, at least anything beyond the current timeframe.
However, going to Config and updating settings there works.
A few system details:
I'm running Windows 2000 Professional 5.00.2195 SP4
.NET 2.0 is installed
My card is Hauppauge WINTV PVR-350
I'm using EWA build 48 and XMLTV
Steps taken:
I upgraded from 0.96.12 to 0.98.13 simply by running the installer
When I discovered this problem, I tried to reinstall EWA according to the guidelines on the Wiki page - no change
I then tried cleaning the web folder completely - no change. Unzipped EWA on top of it again - no change.
I then tried uninstalling GB-PVR, deleted the installation dir, reinstalled, and then copied in gbpvr.mdb and config.xml from my backup - no change
I then did the Wiki procedure with EWA again - no change
I rebooted and tested again - no change
Checked the forums here, but found no reports of similar problems
So, I'm nearly at my wits' end here. Can somebody guide a poor, lost soul back to the path of blissful PVR'ing again?
Just so you know where I'm coming from, I work as a support tech, so I'm not completely PC illiterate But even us pros need some help now and again.
What are the GB-PVR hardware requirements? I have a P3 900mhz with 384mb of RAM. I am going to buy a HW MPEG-2 capture card like the Hauppauge 150 or 250. How short of the minimums am I?
