I have a couple of questions which I've searched the forums and wiki for and haven't really found an answer. I'm not using MVP and have a Hauppauge 150 card, and I keep GBPVR updated.
GBPVR doesn't play AVI files (with XVID format) that I've downloaded or gotten from another source. Normally, I have to convert the files to MPEG2, which not only takes time but creates files two or more times larger than the .avi files and just isn't as good a quality video (though acceptable). Yet, in some threads I've read, it sounds like some people are indeed playing either AVI files or XVID formats.
So, to confirm, can GBPVR not play the AVI (XVID) files?
Is there a way to have the smaller file size without dramatically losing the quality?
I'm using a PVR150 card from hauppauge to record and watch live TV, the problem is I had no sound from the start only picture, I followed some forums topics to install the latest beta driver. Now they are installed and same problem only picture. I then installed WinTV from hauppauge to check if it was gbpvr problem but no, same problem only picture. After that I installed Hauppauge Video Decoder version 5, after that I got sound in WinTV! I rebooted started up gbpvr no sound in live tv , I closed gbpvr, launched WinTV I got sound !, closed WinTV, launched gbpvr sound oh yes!
The problem is I need to launch WinTV first before I get sound in gbpvr. Is this codec related, any workaround or troubleshoot tip please.
I'm running.
Windows XP SP2 : all patches from windows update.
gbpvr: GBPVR09813.msi
pvr_150 driver : pvr150_500_basedriver64bit_2043_24108.exe (latest beta)
I just installed EWA 52. I clicked to view the Photolibrary and the frame on the left has an error.
Opinions/suggestions. If no one has anything off the top of their head i'll log into the HTPC and set it to tell me what the error is (rather than just Server Error in '/gbpvr' Application - runtime error).
I hope someone can help me with this. I installed GBPVR .9813.
The installation went ok but when I go to play any kind of video or DVD
the on screen navigation controls do not appear and if I try to stop the video the program crashes. I tried playback with VMR9 Custom and VMR9, both having the same results. If I set Playback with Overlay Manager the navigation controls appear and work correctly but the resolution is not correct. Film is stretched in both vertical and horizontal. Any help with this problem would be appreciated.
Would anyone find a decoder for the XC Cube AV's in-built infra-red receiver useful? I've got one which turns remote commands into key-presses corresponding to the default GB-PVR keyboard mapping. If so then I'll tidy it up & put it on-line.
GB-PVR has been working fine for me for a few weeks now, until two days ago. Attempting to enter TV Guide now produces an error pop-up saying:
"Error: the wait completed due to an abandoned mutex"
Attempting to open the TV Guide a second time produces the message:
"Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
After the second error message, the user-interface no longer accepts keyboard input, only mouse input.
Re-starting gbpvr.exe re-instates the mutex error message, for the first TV Guide attempt, after which it's the object instance message again.
In the GB-PVR.exe logfile the only errors are:
Code:
01/12/2006 16:06:57.024 ERROR [1] Unable to find node: /settings/SpecialElements/SpecialElement[@name="ForegroundTransparency"]
and later
Code:
01/12/2006 16:06:57.056 ERROR [1] Unable to find node: /settings/SpecialElements/SpecialElement[@name="MenuType"]
and of course
Code:
01/12/2006 17:06:56.145 ERROR [1] Error: msg=0x100 (WM_KEYDOWN) hwnd=0x1202a8 wparam=0xd lparam=0x1c0001 result=0x0 : System.Threading.AbandonedMutexException: The wait completed due to an abandoned mutex.

I don't remember having seen the first two errors before now, so could it just be that my config and/or gbpvr database have been trashed somehow?
I have upgraded to the latest release two days ago. I am having the "object reference not set.." when I try to view OSD while watching a recording or if I try to change the aspect ratio. It happens randomly and is not consistent.
I am also seeing this entry in gbpvr.exe.log over and over.
Hi,
What is the tuning request format in the database?
I need to enter my tuning request manually in the database using TS reader info listed below.
Below is one current working entry (for my DVB-T card)
T:C56,754000,0,0,8~P:1070~V:1079~A:1078~L:000~PMT:1070~LCN:6~TXT:1076~N:>TV6
It seems some are options as well...
Thanks for any input.
/Thomas
Below is the TS reader output in question: (channel 810 is the one I'm after)
Anything else I need? (im not sure how to get the PMT PID)
