  98.13 and MCE remote
Posted by: marm - 2006-11-30, 02:58 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I set up a client next to my TV and watch my TV with this box now and when I moved my MCE remote to the new box for some reason the skip buttons do not work. I uninstalled the remote and still the skip buttons will not work I can see the LED light on the receiver working. As far as I can tell everything else works and I even tried changing the time for the skip but that did not do anything. I it is not really a big deal but it is handy to skip over comercials when I can do a minute at a time.

Thanks
Mark

why does gb-pvr take up so much memory?
Posted by: glitch - 2006-11-30, 02:20 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I have gbpvr.exe (61 megs), gbpvrRecordingService.exe (60 megs), and GBPVRTray.exe (35 megs !) running and I wondered why those applications are taking up so much memory? The numbers I quote are with a few recordings scheduled but with nothing playing and nothing currently being recorded. A better question is, why does a task bar tray icon app take up 35 megabytes? The memory numbers are the Mem Usage and VM Size numbers from Windows Task Manager and then summed. Oh, and gbpvr.exe sometimes jumps to 130 megs as it did while writing this. Memory jumps to 155 megs when I decide to watch live TV.

  Overlay Vs VMR
Posted by: spapesh - 2006-11-30, 12:54 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I am curious about a few things....

1. What is the difference between Overlay and VMR? ie Deinterlacing, Color Etc.

2. Which one generally gives the best picture on a standard NTSC TV set?

  Thinking of going to satellite...
Posted by: flyswatta - 2006-11-30, 12:06 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

I have GBPVR setup with 3 capture cards on an analog cable feed and am thinking about switching to satellite. I'm thinking that I would need 3 satellite tuners just for the PVR which is about $15 a month, plus the $15 for the tv satellite tuners. I hate to sound cheap, but the whole thing that got me started with GBPVR was avoiding the cost of TIVO and the subscription. I thought about just getting thier DVRs, but the thought of being limited to watching a show only on the TV it was recorded on makes me wanna shudder!Sad

Ever since I got GBPVR working, I stopped watching prime time TV live, and instead spend time with the kids, and then after they go to bed, I usually just play back the shows on my main computer over a mapped drive. I'd hate to be tied to a TV again.

Anyway, I just wanted to get some opinions from people with multiple GBPVR tuners hooked up to satellite receivers... Easy to setup/configure? worth it over cable? Pitfalls to avoid?

MyHD MDP 130 or the OnAir GT?????
Posted by: D1PHAM - 2006-11-29, 10:14 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

Which HDTV is better? I have an HDTV and I should have Comcast Digital HD Cable installed in a week or two. However, right now I'm using a directional HD antenna. Which tuner works with GBPVR?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  v0.98.13 & Kworld of Hurt 110 problem
Posted by: longhorngeek - 2006-11-29, 09:41 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

A friend of mine and I are both having the same problem with v0.98.13 and the Kworld 110 digital tuner.

It looks like something is going wrong during a scheduled recording. GBPVR still thinks that it is recording the show long after the show has been over.

In addition, subsequent scheduled shows fail to record, and the original recording that GBPVR thinks that it is still recording is unplayable.

Has anyone else seen this?

My friend thinks that the tuner is losing the signal during the original show, and this is what is causing the initial problem.

I have noticed that it happens on shows that immediately follow each other, but this may just be a coincidence.

I have applied all of the gbpvr.exe replacements from the survival guide. I don't know if my friend has or not.

BTW - does each subsequent gbpvr.exe have all of the cumulative patches mentioned in the survival guide, or does each version just apply to the specific issue mentioned in its post?

Thanks for your help, and I really appreciate all of the time that you spend developing and supporting this awesome application.

GBPVR actually convinced my wife to allow a computer back in the living room -- never thought that I would see the day.

  Live TV Quality Please help!!!!
Posted by: spapesh - 2006-11-29, 08:43 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I have a wife that is extremely picky about her TV. She wants it to just work and look good.

I am using the .123 Nvidia decoder with an ATI 9550. I have the deinterlace set to auto on both the card and the decoder. The image is slightly blurred. It is just noticable. I can live with it, but the wife can't.

Can anyone help???

  UbuStream wish/request?
Posted by: JDeSimone - 2006-11-29, 08:38 PM - Forum: UbuStream, Web Radio and Universe - Replies (1)

What I am wishing for is a plugin for listening to the streams from

http://concerts.wolfgangsvault.com/

It would also be neat to have poster images and such slide showed while listening.

Anyone know how hard this would be?

TIA

Thinking about writing plugin for TheaterTek. What are you thoughts.
Posted by: BoomerBrian - 2006-11-29, 07:54 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (1)

Well. GBPVR pretty much meets all of my needs except I use TheaterTek and would like to integrate it with GBPVR. I currently develop in Java using JDeveloper but I have downloaded and started playing with C#. I figured this would get my feet wet with C#. My main goal is to able to use TheaterTek seemlessly from GBPVR.

I guess my question is does anyone have any input or thoughts about this plugin. Has anyone tried it before? I have emailed TheaterTek asking for their API information but have not received a reply yet.

Thanks,
Brian
