I ordered a Hauppauge PVR350 and it's on the way. Now, I'm having second thoughts about the version I ordered.
I have Dish Network with receiver model DP301. It is my intention to use GB-PVR. My question is: Will I need to buy additional hardware to change channels simultaneously on GB-PVR and the STB (like the USB-UIRT)? I really don't want to spend another $50 for that. I'm thinking that the easiest thing to do is to return the PVR350 and order a PVR150.
I hope this makes sense. I think I know the answer, but want to make sure before I open the box.
I bought a new tv capture card and successfully configured his settings in the bda.ini but gb-pvr dosn`t saving the channels.
I can see in the right corner that gb-pvr finds channels bit dosnt saving the channels.

I had been running my graphics output at 1024x768 when using VGA output to my 42" plasma monitor (HD/1080i-capable) -- with GBPVR, of course -- but when I installed an HD tuner (Cat's Eye 150) a couple of days ago, I decided to upgrade my NVidia drivers (and also to change to the DVI/HDMI output on the NVidia card). The NVidia card/drivers detected my plasma and changed my resolution (automatically) to "optimized for HDTV" (1920x1080). Now everything played thru GBPVR plays in a square box in the middle of my plasma panel (vs. a rectangle filling the whole panel).
I guess my general question is -- what resolution should I be running my graphics card to watch full-screen television (both analog with my PVR-150 and OTA ATSC with my Cats' Eye 150)?
I've tried switching to overlay (vs. VMR9), but still get the square in the middle.
Thanks!

As some of you may know I'm working on a replacement dongle similar in theory to the gbmvp.bin that sub used to provide. Everything was going as I expected until I bought a Hauppauge PVR 150 and tried live tv. I just cannot get this to be stable. It's great for the first live tv selection and maybe for one or two channel up/downs or for watching a selection from the guide but after that forget it. I know some of this is my code since it magnifies problem, the but I cannot find a stable combination with gbpvr and the distributed dongle either to use as a reference.
98.08 seems better then 98.13 so that is were I have focused my comparison but it is far from perfect. The major problems I have found with the distributed software include (to be clear NOT using my dongle)
- channel up/down freezing
- stop key exiting gbpvr completely can't even reconnect to server
- the recording continuing after stop with the gui responding properly
- the guide indicating the device in use but recording service says sleeping.
- the problems are worse when I try inset video.
I can duplicate these easily. Am I the only one seeing this general problem?
Any suggestion on improving the stability with the standard installation would be appreciated.
Many movies or divx come with different sizes or pixel aspect ratio.
Modern TVs let you adjust the aspect ratio of the presentation, from a narrow range of alternatives (mostly: 4/3, 16/9 and "auto"). But the "auto" feature is quite unuseful since it simply extends the video to the margin of the TV
On the contrary, it'd be VERY USEFUL if you could choose the aspect ratio of the movie before the transcoding process with ffdshow or ffmpeg.
My idea is to empower some remote button (or add 4 buttons to the GUI) to extend or narrow horizontally/vertically the width/height of the transcoded movie (it's just a matter of sending a different command line to the transcoder). No matter if pressing a button means restarting the movie (!)
This feature could be enabled or disabled via Configuration, in order not to overlap with the actual resizing feature, wich (on the other hand) doesn't work with MediaMVP.
I have The latest version of the XRecord plug-in "v0.45" and I can't seem to get the posters to download automatically or manually, If I try manually (stop button) it sits there for a bit then just goes back to the ready folder with no poster.....I dunno what to do......thanks
I have no audio for both TV and DVD. I'm using the nVidia PureVideo for audio and video decoding. I tried all combinations of decoder and rendering device with no success.
Media Player plays a DVD with no problems. Config file and logs attached.
I have a couple shows set up as reoccurring shows.
The last week or so I noticed that if I cancel one of the shows (not the whole reoccurring show but just one instance of the show) it comes back into pending recordings after an EPG Update. Not a big deal, but a little frustrating.
Thanks
I have pointed the Music Library to a collection of MP3 podcasts. However, the playback behavior of the Music Library is not what I would like. Since these are long recordings, I would prefer the behavior we have in the Video Library. That is, for my audio recordings I would like to be able to
See my current position in the recording
Jump forward and back in the audio
Be prompted to resume the audio recording from where I left off
Be able to delete a recording (these are podcasts)
This doesn't seem to be possible with the standard Music Library. The plugins I looked at don't seem to do this either. Any suggestions?
I have just set up gbPVR and an MVP. Cool software!
The MVP gets an ip address and connects to the gbPVR software and I get the gbPVR menu but that is where the joy stops. The remote does not function at all except for the power button. The red light on the front of the MVP lights up but that's all the indication that I get that it is doing anything.
I have 98.13b of the gbPVR software and the first screen from the MVP says version 2.03. I have a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 150 tuner card installed in my PC. The PC is running XP Pro with 1GB of ram, 320GB hard drive and an Athlon XP 2000.
It all seems to work fine from the PC including the remote. It is just the MVP that has the remote problem. Any help on how to trouble shoot this problem would be great.
