I would like to be able to change the resolution in the capture settings to other values. (See attachment)
After reading and searching the forums I found there are settings in the direct.ini
A) - in the sample below, what does the value 0 equal?
WindowsXP Home Ed SP2
GBPVR 09813b
AMD Athlon64 3200
KWorld ATSC 110
1GB DDR SDRAM
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 128MB
100GB HDD
300GB HDD
Canadian/US OTA Signal
I'm a long time user of GB-PVR and I feel a bit silly for having to ask a question on here, I thought I knew what I was doing!. For the longest time I've had the Hauppague PVR150/GB-PVR setup and it worked great, I decided to experiment on another computer with the ATSC KWorld 110 card and I cannot get a picture with GB-PVR, I've mapped the channels to the EPG as per the instructions and also used the new “channel mapper”
, I’ve tried every combination in both the BDA Multiplexer and video decoder settings and the best I seem to get is what I can only describe as a picture you'd see on an old monitor when it can't handle the resolution, not pixelating as such but very, very fine lines, nothing you'd recognize as a picture and the lines are frozen (no live picture) – most of the time though, I’ll get 2 secs of audio before GB-PVR crashes.
I know the Kworld ATSC card works because it plays flawlessly using “watchHDTV” software, which as good as it is for setting up HDTV, is not really what I want to use when I’ve used GB-PVR so much in the past. The OTA signal is strong and the channel mapper finds the digital channels.
As a separate note, (possibly related?) why is the tuning information displayed, different when you use the channel mapper as oppose manual tuning?
When I manually tune a channel I type in the "tuning request" section:
T:40,9,1
but when using the channel mapper it displays:
T:40,9,1~P:4~V:65~A:68~PMT:64~N:>9.1
(BTW, no picture is displayed in the preview window when it finds the channels and when I click on a channel after the scan, it will result in 2 secs of audio before config crashes)
Sorry for all the questions! I tried everything I could think of and had to finally give in and ask on here, I’m sure it’s something stupidly obvious - any help greatly appreciated!

I currently have an HTPC running Windows XP Pro with an ATI All In Wonder 7500 (AGP) TV Tuner/Video board. I don't believe this board is compatible with GB-PVR. I would like to upgrade my chassis to one with a built in touchscreen monitor and add an OTA HD Tuner, possibly a dual HD tuner. Since the ATI board is also my display adapter I would like to leave it in the system. I'm using it's DVI output to drive my projector.
I have several questions with this upgrade.
1. I'll need to add a second video adapter to run the touchscreen monitor. Are there any problems with having two video boards installed at the same time?
2. Will I still be able to use the ATI software for PVR on the 7500?
3. Which HD TV Tuners can you recommend that are compatible with GB-PVR?
4. What size hard disk would you recommend for HD PVR recordings?
I've been recording TV with the bundled software given with the card. A friend of mine clued me onto MythTV and all its glory, but I'm too lazy to learn/setup Linux. I came across GBPVR looking for alternatives.
This looks pretty promising (I have a Dishnetwork 322). I will need a USB UIRT to interface with it, but I'd like to know if the GBPVR software will work with this card. Has anyone here tried it??
wintv pvr-350
Asus MOBO <p4s533-mx SiS chipset>
ATI Video Card <9200se AGP>
3.0 GHZ P4
768 Mgs Ram
400GB Hard Drive <7200.10>
My Issues
1) TV out on the video card <ati> is VERRRY BAD. Th image on a 32 inch tv is blurry. i mean blurr to the point that i cant read anything.
2)TV out on the pvr350 is perfect, except after about 60 secs it totally locks up the pc. Locks it up to the point where i need to reboot the whole computer.
Any help would be greattly apreciated. I am new here but not a newbie with the computers. to those of you that will say "your card is bad" we actually purchased 2 and put them inidentical hardware pc's and they both have the same problem.
I've been testing some new skins for my plug-ins with the community skin and I noticed that two of the list backgrounds were off. They had extra transparent space on the right side so they were not symmetric. Attached are updates.
i use the FM channel on an PVR500 as an input to a shoutcast server and then stream that to my networked mp3 players around the house. I also want to be able to change the FM channel but GBPVR had no command line to do this.
If i use some other application to control the FM, (winRadio or something) will this cause a problem in GBPVR? ie. it might try to use the tuner to watch TV?
Hi all, I've been having a problem with transcoding using FFMPEG. Even though I set the bitrate to -b 1400, I open the transcoded file up with GSpot and it says the bitrate is only 2kbps. I do not have GBPVR.exe running while it is transcoding. I looked in the log files to see if there were any debug information and there was none to be found in ANY of the log files. The conversions take place between midnight and 6am, and there are no timestamps whatsoever. The only things I see in the log files is when I start GBPVR up in the morning.
If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I've unsuccessfully looked through the likely text files, so I'm guessing this is hard-coded into the app. However, just in case I'm missing it, I wanted to ask this question: Is there a way to change the recordings screen to show what's oldest instead of what's newest? I'd rather watch the shows in order and take a FIFO approach. Plus, then I know what's oldest and can watch that before it gets overwritten. If I pick whats new and scroll down, it only goes back so far, so then it becomes a case of manually searching by going to the Ready screen and looking at number of episodes and last recording date. So, can this be changed? Thanks.
I read through the directions and installed the GBPVR software, but I still have a few questions about the initial setup and settings. Please note because I have hooked up my Pinnacle Studio PCTV- USB (as the TV tuner), I have also installed the WDM driver and the ATI Avivo Transcoder For All (as directed). Below I have pasted two screen prints, Software Recorder Config. and GB-PVR Playback Windows, that I have the specific questions pasted directly on each screen print. If you need additional information, plase me let me know. Thanks you for your help.
