  having problems adding second tuner
Posted by: acidfiend2003 - 2006-09-30, 09:48 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I'm using GBPVR 96.8 (no support for my favourite skin or plugins in the newer versions unfortunately so till then can't upgrade Sad ) and have just bought a second DVB-T tuner.

I've configured the source, scanned for channels and done the channel map. I was puzzled to see that each source seems to have its own, seperate EPG source but for now I've just loaded in the same XMLTV file.

With my original tuner connected *and also* the new tuner I can watch/record pretty much any single channel as normal. With *either* tuner connected its the same, can watch/record pretty much any single channel.

However, I am not able to watch one channel via the first tuner, and record another with the second. GBPVR gives an error message stating that there are no tuners available to watch the channel.

Are there any extra steps that I need to take to get this to work? and also how can I get the sources to use the same EPG data, I don't want to have to update both EPGs each time?

I'll try to reproduce in a mo and post some logs

Regards
Dave

Not switching to scheduled recording when watching live TV
Posted by: CK- - 2006-09-30, 08:41 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hopefully the title says it all, but here is a more detailed explanation.
First of all, in case it is significant, I am using MVP.

Assume I have a scheduled recording due to start at say 20:00
At 19:45 I start watching another channel.
At 20:00 the channel I am watching just freezes.

I would have expected that I would get a prompt saying something along the lines of:
"A schedules recording is due to start.
Do you want to switch channels, or continue watching this channel and cancel the recording?"

Have I got something set up incorrectly?

If I return to the main menu and press LiveTV, I get the prompt that no tuners are available, and can select to watch the recording.

It took me a while to work out what was going on , and the WAF is adversely affected.

As always, thanks for a superb product. I have oscillated between SageTV and GBPVR, but with the addition of the client mode, I am now firmly in the GBPVR camp. And yes, I have made a contribution - shame on those of you who haven't Big Grin .

  Audio problems on imported recordings
Posted by: peterh - 2006-09-30, 08:37 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have a few recordings that were recorded from satellite on another PC and then copied to GBPVR PC. If I try to play them from GBPVR using Myvideos the video is OK but I get regular brief periods of silence, but they play without problem through MVP. Any suggestions please?

Unable to get Quiet n Cool to work
Posted by: arnabbiswas - 2006-09-30, 05:40 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (15)

This is not the right forum for this post, but I figured that since this forum is so active, someone might have run into this situation and may have a solution.

My gbpvr htpc is running extremely hot n noisy and I was trying to figure out ways to cool it. I think the culprit is my cpu and besides buying a better HSF, AMD's quiet and cool technology sounded like a good fit. But I was unable to get it to work.

My System specs:

Mobo: MSI K8NGM2-FID Bios version 3.5
CPU : AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice

I downloaded the Quiet n Cool drivers from MSI's global site to ensure that they were compatible with my motherboard:

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/do...702&kind=1

I enabled quiet n cool on my BIOS, installed the driver and changed my power scheme to Minimal Power Management.

Yet when I looked at my System information my CPU speed showed up at 1.8 Ghz, instead of the 800 Mhz that I was expecting.

Thus Quiet n Cool did not work and my system still runs Loud n Noisy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated since I am trying to build a silent HTPC and my PC is far from silent. Kind of spoils the fun of gbpvr which is such a great tool.

I see an interesting article in Ehome Upgrade that links to a story about SnapStream's Beyond TV on the MVP. http://www.ehomeupgrade.com/entry/3077/m..._beyond_tv

Does My Videos 5 rc3 work with v98.8 & sql?
Posted by: Jim_ - 2006-09-30, 04:11 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (1)

I installed RC3 and used it for a few days last week.
But, the “my whatever” log was always empty, none of my user settings would stick, and the front-end & mpv playback would become sluggish.
I was going to try a reinstall, but I can’t find any way to uninstall it.
So I thought I’d ask if it depends on anything else being installed, or if it even works with v98, before spending more time with it.

Thanks for the assistance in advance, I’d really like to get it working for the library sort options.

  All skins missing certain icons?
Posted by: fldavem - 2006-09-30, 03:38 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (8)

After upgrading and adding the VideoArchive plug-in, I notice I am now missing some of the menu icons! For example, TV Guide, Recordings, Search Guide, and Live TV all have the icons associated with them but Music Library, Video Library, and Photo Library do not! It doesn't matter what skin I use, the same results.

Does anyone know what I may have done and how to fix it?

I've attached a screen shot in case I'm not explaining it well.

Thanks,
Dave

Fuzzy tv...no pic in Tuning Assistant
Posted by: n8dogg - 2006-09-30, 01:33 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I am very new to this and don't like to bother the experts with my menial questions, but I have been working on this all day and am at an impass.

I have my Adaptec 3610 setup, and it added to my "Capture Sources". Got Zap2it set up and EPG working fine, but when I go to Live TV all I see is red lines. Tuning Assistant is cycling through the channels that I get acting like it recgocnizez them, but there is absolutely no picture in Tuning Assistant...not even fuzz. I tried cycling through my video decoders (InterVideo, CyberLink, Nero Video, GPL MPEG - 1/2) with no luck...just some that had black screen with no lines or fuzz. Even tried VMR 7/9 (whatever they are), but they didn't help.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

BTW If anyone knows about the remote for the Adaptec 3610 and how I can get it to work with this program I would really like to know.

Thanks! Nate

  Questions about Auto Convert
Posted by: madcat - 2006-09-30, 01:25 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I have set up the Auto Convert in the config App as follows:

Code:
<!-- Post processing --> <AutoConvertMpgToFormat>XviD</AutoConvertMpgToFormat> <AutoConvertDvrmsToFormat>MPEG-2</AutoConvertDvrmsToFormat> <CommercialDetectionScheme>1</CommercialDetectionScheme> <ProcessCommercialsDuringRecording>false</ProcessCommercialsDuringRecording> <ConversionProcessingStartHour>1</ConversionProcessingStartHour> <ConversionProcessingStopHour>6</ConversionProcessingStopHour> <AutoDeleteConvertedFiles>true</AutoDeleteConvertedFiles> <AutoUpdateDatabaseForConvertedFile>true</AutoUpdateDatabaseForConvertedFile> <WakeMachineForConversionProcessing>true</WakeMachineForConversionProcessing>

This is the first time I see an AVI file created. Two questions:
1) Which files are selected? I have two recordings currently, the one was converted, the other (older) wasn't. Logs also show only the one that was converted.
2) Although set to delete orig file, and even log shows
Code:
28/09/2006 01:36:15.006 VERBOSE [12] getValue: /settings/AutoDeleteConvertedFiles : true 28/09/2006 01:36:15.006 INFO [12] Deleting old file...
file wasn't deleted. Any known issue?

  GBPVR crashing v98.8b
Posted by: PaulH - 2006-09-30, 12:42 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I'm not sure exactly what's going on with my PC using .98.8b, but this looks like the second time that I got a Microsoft error reporting box that GBPVR.exe had crashed. No event log messages either.

Windows XP
768mb
IE6
(1) MVP

Looks like it's still recording Survivor tonight, so I'm not sure which process is crashing. I'm attaching my log files for interest.
