Is there any way to tell the MVP to output at a 16x9 aspect ratio?
This is grayed out in config in 0.98.08b and I'd like to try to finally use the full capabilities of my TV monitor and some of the nice new hi-res skins!
Does the latest beta version of the Hauppauge software give this configuration option? Would that then "stick" when using GBPVR?
Now that you have apparently stopped development of your own dongle.bin (i.e. GBPMVP.bin) does GBPVR 0.98.08 use the Hauppauge dongle.bin from mediamvp_3.2.24206.exe or from another beta release?
Is there a public file archive of older dongle.bin s somewhere on gbpvr.com to try if one is having problems with the dongle in the current release?
This might be a useful resource since it is a pain to have to install the Hauppauge's software just to get at a dongle.bin.
Does anyone else have a public archive of dongle.bin s if there is no such archive ongbpvr gbpvr.com?
After I got a little bit frustrated about GB-PVR recognizing my WinFast DTV Dongle but not finding any TV channels during the scan, I found out, that the corresponding entry in BDA.INI is wrong. It should be:
[Leadtek WinFast DTV Dongle]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=WinFast DTV Dongle BDA Driver
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Antenna In Pin
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
After searching for the ability to do softcam plugins in GBPVR, I found that this feature will not be added. The problem for me is that in Canada, there are no FTA (unless you want to watch NASA and the BEV XPRS channels, telling you how to use your receiver :p ) channels. So what I have done is use ProgDVB to emulate my subscribed card so that I can receive only the channels that I otherwise pay for. (I'm sure everyone says that, true or not.) Now I realize the reason for not including softcam plugins in GBPVR is because of the legality issue. BUT, if GB were to somehow interface with ProgDVB, then it would sidestep the legal issue, and those who wish to do what I'm doing would still be able to have what they've legally paid for, which is mpeg2 quality tv.
Is there any chance what I'm suggesting would be viable? And if so, would there be anyone willing to give it a crack?
Hi, and many thanks for writing this thing and making it available, it's very impressive. Once I figured out which way to add both my tuner cards, they worked straight away.
I've come from Mediaportal (dismayed at the CPU and memory issues I've had) and am delighted to find GB-PVR sits happily and uses very few resources even when recording. I do have some questions about using this program though, if somebody could be kind enough to help.
I like to go through all the listings and record all episodes of particular programs. I can do this with Search in the main program but I find it awkward that I need to specify each letter. Is there any way to list ALL the programs in one go?
Secondly, using the web interface, is there any way to record a series? I can only seem to record a single episode at a time.
Being a bit of an IRC monkey, I was wondering if there was a support channel? I saw the post about Freenode's #gbpvr but found it empty when I visited (also empty on oftc and quakenet).
I have been using GBPVR for the past few months and have had no issues with hibernate (apart from during music streaming) -- i.e. when I wasn't watching tv, recording, etc. the machine went to sleep after 5 minutes.
I always keep my machine up to date with the latest version of GBPVR and always eagerly await the next release :-)
I installed the current version when it came out and am now having issues with the Recording Service. The machine just doesn't go into hibernate when the Recording Service is running -- even though nothing is scheduled! If I manually kill the Recording Service in the processes menu, then the machine goes to sleep after the set time.
I normally install over the top of my existing GBPVR installation and thought that might be the problem, so I uninstalled it again and deleted the GBPVR folder completely and then did a reinstall to set things up from scratch. It didn't help.
I haven't reinstalled any plugins and I am still using the default skin but the machine still doesn't hibernate even if GBPVR is closed and the Recording Service is running in the background.
a few days ago my "Mr. Data" started to refuse showing me the tv guide. Instead of the tv guide, I get the following error message <see attachment>. May I kindly ask anybody why this happens? In fact, I didn't change ANYTHING - this phenomenon really appeared all of a sudden.
I attach all my logs as well.
Thank you for any assistance and help!
Greeting, Alex
PS: Is it likely that this problem can't appear if I update to the new version of gbpvr that does not use access? I alway think not to change any running system, but if this helps...
So I just installed GB-PVR with my new HTPC. Iâm running:
Athlon 3800+ Dual core
Windows XP MCE 2005
2 GB RAM
nVidia Geforce 7600 GS
vBox HDTV Tuner (ATSC Signal)
3.0 GB/s SATA Hard Drive
The problem Iâm having is that every 30 seconds or so, the video playback will be very choppy for about 10 seconds, and then go back to normal.
I think I have eliminated the possibility of it being a decoding issue, as when I record something, the skipping will occur at the same point in the recording, regardless of what player I use to play it back with. (I'm currently using the Nvidia decoder, as it seemed to work best with my Nvidia graphics card).
This led me to the BDA mux options, which I tried many combinations of (CyberLink, DVR-MS), all of which yield pretty much the same results. I checked the version of the CyberLink it's using (top entry on BDA Mux Checker), and it's version 5.x....
This problem seems to occur all the time, including Live TV as well as when I record, and as I mentioned this problem is repeatable as the stuttering appears to be tied to the recording. I considered the possibility of a HDD error when writing, but running at 3.0 GB/s, I canât imagine this would be the case.
Iâve zipped up and attached all of my log files.
Anyone know what I can use to either compress/remove or view some of the data from my gbpvr.db3. It's over 9GB! and I'm guessing that 9gigs is not a normal size for this database.
First of all I have to apologize for not being active on forum lately, my wife sent me to GBPVR de-tox to address my forum addiction. But now that summer is over I should be able to start getting my "fix" again.
I recently installed the latest and greatest 98.8b and wow, some really nice changes. The new Hauppauge dongle supporting video in a window, the client/server, the new features in the web admin , really great stuff. Very nice work Sub.
I only have two issues that I can see and I hope someone can help. When I try to playback WMVâs Iâm getting an error on the server that âtran2mvp.exeâ has crashed. When I look at the log I have this entry:

Oddly enough the file transcoding continues and plays fine. It works as long as I donât close the error window on the server.
What has me confused is two things. I thought GBPvr was using FFMPEG for transcoding? And if it does not use FFMPEG for WMVâs, what do I need to fix this problem. Just reinstall the Hauppauge software? I havenât removed it or even touched it since I installed it.
My other problem which is fairly minor has to do with MVP display on my TV. Iâm using Contour as my skin and the main menu, the black âstatusâ section has some while lines after the text. And text is slightly distorted. Example: following the ârecording soonâ. I have lines on the screen that look like text âghostingâ from the recording soon text. Is it a skin issue?
