16:9 TV Settings & Showing 4:3 in Recorded videos
Posted by: mugun - 2006-09-20, 02:40 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (17)

I have a 16:9 TV and the setting in the config is set to to show at 16:9. However when i play recorded videos it shows in 4:3 but the Live TV shows in the full 16:9 screen. Is there some kind of settings that needs to be set, i have looked into the settings in the plugin area and havent found any luck. I had this problem when i upgraded to the 98 version. Thanks for any assistance and for the good work been.

  PVR-250 & PowerColor 550 don't work together
Posted by: mwj - 2006-09-20, 02:18 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

I've finally gotten around to building a new system for a PVR and photos, but I'm running into a bit of a problem and have no idea what to try next. I've tried searching the forum and the web, but I can't find any references to anything like what I'm doing.

My new system is an MSI K9N Platinum/AM2 AMD 4200+/2GB with SATA drives. I initially configured it with a PowerColor Theatre 550 Pro (PCI Express X1) and got it working with GBPVR. Now that that is working, I have tried to add my old PVR-250 card to the system, but it doesn't seem to be working. When I start WinTV2000 (the Hauppauge app), it just shows the Empire State/Planet screen and selecting "tuner" mode has no effect (well, the display switches from C1 to --). I've run HWClear and reinstalled the drivers as per the Hauppauge website, but the end result is the same. I've also configured GBPVR to use it, but it can't see it either (just gets a black screen in LiveTV mode).

Has anyone configured a system to use an Hauppauge card and an ATI card together? How about a PCI card and a PCI Express card?

They seem to have different IRQs, but is there anything else I should be checking or trying?

Thanks,

mwj

Well... it seems GB-PVR is getting mentioned...

by people selling parts on EBay! LoL

Not to long I was looking at case prices on there and a guy was selling a "new" media center pc. He built it and didn't want it. It was some Celeron system w/ PVR150 and GB-PVR installed. Oh yeah... it was running the new OS "Vista" so it was "future proofed" I think is how he put it.

  Provider not specified
Posted by: m252066 - 2006-09-20, 12:25 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (2)

I'm having trouble with the XDVD plugin. Every time I attempt to play a DVD that I've ripped to my hard drive, I get the following error:

Error: An OLE DB Provider was not specified in the ConnectionString. An examplewould be, 'Provider=SQLOLEDB;'

Does anyone have any idea why I'm getting this error? Any help would be appreciated. I've attached my log files.

Thanks

Kworld DVBT 300U - slight freezing on live TV Playback
Posted by: dieharder - 2006-09-20, 12:12 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi

I've recently (Friday!) bought a Kworld DVBT 300U, and downloaded gbpvr on Saturday.

Im totally impressed, i've been having teething problems with the TV Guide which im sure I can sort out by reading through threads however....

When I play live TV using gbpvr (and indeed the inferior software shipped with the 300u) it 'freezes' for less than a second at a time every 5 or so seconds.

Now I couldn't swear to it but im pretty sure the shipped software didn't do this before I installed the BDA drivers and gbpvr.

I downloaded the BDA driver direct from the kworld ftp site.

Could this be what's causing this issue or are there any other things I should check ?

  Suitable Spec?
Posted by: pete_thomson - 2006-09-20, 08:31 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

Hello,

I got an old MediaMVP that I'm looking to push back into service with GBPVR.

I've installed and played with just GBPVR using my newly purchased Nova-T PCI card on my main PC and apart from a couple of gripes (getting the EPG to update fully is one) it's working fine direct to screen.

I ideally didn't want to have it in my main machine, so I was looking to put my spare machine to good use - the problem is that I don't know if the spec is up to it. It's a P3 1Ghz, currently with 256Mb ram (will be 512Mb next week) and with a 10Gb system drive and I'm dropping a 120Gb secordary drive in it. This will be used to stream into the MVP making it like a recorder alongside my existing STB, with the aim that if all goes well, to drop a secord DVB-T card in and ditch the STB. Eventually I'd like another MVP off of it, but I understand this would be stretching things a little too far.

For my initial planned usage, will my machine be up to the job??

  Installing MVP software
Posted by: pcostanza - 2006-09-20, 03:23 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (14)

Is it absolutely needed to install the software that comes with the MVP? I ask this because I recently reformated my HD and reinstalled GBPVR but no Hauppauge junk and now, almost always, my videos, photos and even the menu are almost greyish in color. True color is not working. At times, when I choose a different MVP skin for the MVP in config, the color comes back but when the unit is turned off, I'm back to the greyish color again.

black screen for recordings, 1 channel only
Posted by: agidius - 2006-09-20, 03:15 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I did a search, but none of the threads I found seemed to be the same problem.

the last few days, every time something records on channel 9 (fox) it only records a black screen and no sound.
the length is fine, and all other channels (so far) work fine.
live TV works fine.
it last recorded on that station a few hours ago.
it is scheduled to record again in a couple hours, so I will save logs after that one.

any ideas??

hauppauge remote not working with gbpvr
Posted by: fogwolf - 2006-09-20, 02:47 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I just installed GBPVR with a Hauppauge 350. The remote works with the Hauppauge Win2000 software but I can't seem to get it to work with GBPVR. I see in the entries in the ini file for GBPVR but still no response. I don't want to use it with any other software but I can't get it to work with GBPVR whether the IR32.exe is running or not.

Thanks!

  System.AccessViolationException
Posted by: Brian_W - 2006-09-20, 02:18 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Sub,

I got another one of these tonight. The wife was adjusting the volume with the remote (MCE 2005 version, no color buttons, not using HIP or Girder, using the native MCE remote support), and the GUI just closed with no error messages on the screen, no error logs in the event viewer, only message is in the gbvr.exe.log. In the log file, it has the exact same line immediately preceding that references MyVideos:

Code:
9/18/2006 6:14:50 PM.606 VERBOSE [1] MyVideosPlugin.Database.Directories.SaveDataset()

I will remove the plugin and let it run for a while and see if the same error occurs. Just wanted to post this (seeing as how this error message seems so elusive to pinpoint the cause) since it does seem related to the MyVideo plugin, and I will also let Reven know.

Here is the error message in the logs:

Code:
9/18/2006 6:14:50 PM.856 ERROR [1] System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. at System.Windows.Forms.UnsafeNativeMethods.DispatchMessageW(MSG& msg) at System.Windows.Forms.Application.ComponentManager.System.Windows.Forms.UnsafeNativeMethods.IMsoComponentManager.FPushMessageLoop(Int32 dwComponentID, Int32 reason, Int32 pvLoopData) at System.Windows.Forms.Application.ThreadContext.RunMessageLoopInner(Int32 reason, ApplicationContext context) at System.Windows.Forms.Application.ThreadContext.RunMessageLoop(Int32 reason, ApplicationContext context) at System.Windows.Forms.Application.Run(Form mainForm) at GBPVR.xbb1566157f5f8b1f.xfb409e85bd292293(String[] xf18a926310372520)

Hope this info can help someone else as well Smile

Brian
