  ADS Tech MXL-581, anyone tried?
Posted by: Baka no Kami - 2006-07-09, 05:04 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Did a quick search but didn't find it listed in the forums. Newegg has it listed for $80 but it does wireless as well. The only problem is the reviews don't seem to good. Looking around on some other sites it seems they're about half and half. Either it doesn't work at all, or it's alright. Has anyone here tried this thing? Is it worth the trouble to try out?

  AutoTranscode + cut basic questions...
Posted by: smithochris - 2006-07-09, 04:55 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi,

I know this is an extremely basic question, but I need help. I want to try out the autotranscode+cut utility, but I cannot figure it out. I've downloaded mencoder and xvid, and I have also downloaded stattik_transcode_0.2.bat.txt. I have made the changes in stattik_transcode_0.2.bat.txt that I want... So how do I run it now? It says this on the wiki: "After configuring it, you can simply drop a file on it to process". What does that mean? How do I "drop a file on it"? I realize this is really basic, but I know nothing about this stuff. Thank you for your help.

  Freeware editing software
Posted by: ibdman - 2006-07-09, 04:17 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

Can anyone recommend a freeware software solution for chopping &/or pasting together the MPG created with GBPRV. I've done some editing with the only program I own, Nero Vision (which is not free), and it does the job okay BUT I can't seem to control the size of the file once it is saved. I do not want a program to mess with the mpg other than to cut it or paste it together; in other words, if I edit a 1.5GB file together with another 1.5GB file I expect a 3GB file - not a 10GB file.

  Popups
Posted by: Old Dog - 2006-07-09, 02:59 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (11)

There are more popup screens in GBPVR than there are plugins and they are a PITA to skin.

It would be nice if the core software used an xml file just to define popup windows and if the gbpvr public library provided an interface for it/them. I think this would help in our quest for a uniform look and feel.

Sub, if a group of skinners and coders created a small extension limited to popups, would you consider incorporating it into the core software?

  Weather Plug-in Bug Report
Posted by: Old Dog - 2006-07-09, 02:47 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (9)

The Weather plugin specifies the font "Arial Narrow" / "bold" which is not available on many GBPVR systems, depending on the OS. When the font is not available, another, wider, font is substituted and the text fields run over each other.

BTW, I have found that "Impact" / "regular" fits well.

  Help gmail invitation code
Posted by: cramp - 2006-07-09, 02:13 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

Hi All,
Have a favor to ask, I want to sing up for a grail account but cant as you need an invitation code. You can get this by sms but it’s not available in the UK yet. So I need a current member to send me an invention code, the problem being I don’t know any current members! I was hoping one of you wonderful GBPVR peeps was a member and if it’s not too much trouble get me an invitation code.
Hope someone can help; it’s a bloody stupid sing up system if you ask me.
Thanks Cramp.

variable speed playback for videos playback
Posted by: pvr_addict - 2006-07-09, 10:10 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

hi guys,

Will future version of GB-PVR include variable speed playback?

I have this feature on my LG DVD-recorder and I find it very useful! (PowerDVD also have this feature).

Thanks.

  interlace problem with recorded videos
Posted by: pvr_addict - 2006-07-09, 10:06 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

hi again,

When viewing recorded MPEG-2 videos (recorded by PVR500), seems like the interlace lines got reversed. In some scenes, this is very obvious (jerkiness).
Is there anyway to fix this in GB-PVR?

Cheers,

  DVD playback - no control
Posted by: pvr_addict - 2006-07-09, 09:22 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

Hi,

When playing back DVD ripped onto the hard disk (using Video Library), I can't
seems to control the rewind/fast forward of video playback.

Anyway to over come this? Also, which Video codec is the best one for ripped DVD playback?

Thanks.

  Transcoding in Video Library
Posted by: pvr_addict - 2006-07-09, 09:20 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi,

Is there a way to know the progress of the transcoding when in Video Library?
Currently I don't see it. If there is please let me know how to enable it.

Thanks.

Cheers,
pvr_addict
