Hi everyone, I'm new to the boards here, and it looks like I've found an amazing resource. I have a newfound interest in importing audio/video signals into my computer, and need some recommendations on what hardware and software I'll need to get set up.
My goal is to import audio/video from my camcorder via firewire, as well as import a live audio/video signal (maybe two live audio/video signals) via composite RCA. I may just leave the video on my hard drive, or burn it to DVD. It would be a nice bonus feature if I could also watch/record a TV signal.
I'm in the process of putting together a shopping list for my first build, and here's what's on the list:
Does my system sound capable? Any improvements to be made for A/V capturing purposes? I'm not sure which video capture card to buy, as I'm not familiar with the quality/reputation of these companies and I'm simply not familiar with what is available or what quality to expect for the money. My A/V capturing budget is limited to somewhere around $150, if it's necessary to spend that much. And as for software, is GBPVR all I need?
I have started using the conversion options in GB PVR, and they work great. I was wondering if there was a way to run old recordings through the conversion procedure... Thanks.
When I'm in the Capture source settings screen in config, I can set default recording to high, and still GB-PVR defaults to medium when setting up a recording or recording liveTV...
In the Web Admin, I can set the default to high, and it seems to catch..
Is there a settings somewhere that I can do this from within GB-PVR or Config?
Unfortunately, when I went to find the dumps, they were gone...
Maybe this is something serious or not. Other than the errors, I have normal functionality, and two programs that were recording at that time, recorded properly including the parallel of comskip...
I've been using GBPVR for about a month. AWESOME!!!
When you have selected to record a show from the TV Guide, then go back in to edit, you can't change the channel / input to S-Video.
I have a PVR-350 connected to a digital cable box but do not have an ir blaster to change my digital cable box channel.
Request:
It would be even more awesome if you could over ride a "programmed from TV Guide" recording to use the S-Video input instead of the channel number. I would be free from having to go into manual recordings, entering start/stop times, and typing inthe program name for everthing I record.
Even if this request is put on the "back burner", I am still going to contribute to the programmer. Awesome Program, Awesome Job.
Thanks,
Herb
Home built PC:
2700 AMD AthalonXP, MSI K7N2G Main Board, 1Gig Ram, 1-20 Gig HD C:\ (Windows XP and GBPVR's Home), 2-40 GIg HD's 7200rpm, Nvidia GeForce 5200, PVR-350 TV Card.
I recorded 3 shows back to back (8:00-9:00, 9:00-10:00, 10:00-11:00). After the shows are done recording, I have comskip run, and then renameRecording. This has worked fine in the past, but for some reason it didn't work last night. The 8:00 show isn't showing up in GBPVR, but it was recorded - the MPEG file is on my hard drive. The other two shows worked fine. For the one that didn't work, comskip looks like it ran fine (the TXT files are there), and renameRecording worked. So I was just going to add it to the recordingdump.xml file manually, but I don't know what to put for the UID. I just want it to show up in the recordings section of GBPVR. I would also like to know why it didn't work right... Is it from running comskip and rename recording after the recording is complete? If so, why did it work other times but not this time? Thanks for your help!
I just updated to the latest version (0.97.9) and now get the attached error. This error appears after GBPVR has been running on the PC for several minutes. I've got 1G of memory. All was working well with the previous version.
Thanks.
[EDIT]
The error appeared again, this time with more information. Here is the some of the output text (the full length of the text exceeds the message board limit):

[EDIT2]
Seems to be related to the XMEDIA-LE skin I was using. Switching to the standard "Blue" skin (as Sub suggests in his announcment message) seems to have solved the problem. I'll report back if the problem/error comes back.
Because of repeated requests I have added the following functionality
Changes in 0.79.44
- Added in the debugwindow the option to toggle blocks between commercial and show. Is available after processing a mpeg or a .csv file. Output files are rewritten after each toggle. The refference bar stays at the original detection results. Use the 'T' key to toggle
