Spring cleaning, in the basement. I found some old boxes of computer stuff its a little trip down memory lane.
In one box a full set of floppy disks for "MS-DOS 6.22 Plus enhanced tools."
What the f*#$ were "enhanced tools"?
I also found an unopend set of disks for a USRobotics Megahertz 33.6 Modem/Ethernet card. How the hell did I install it without the disks getting opened?
I also found an ISA Sound card and a ISA multi-port card(2 ide, 1 printer, 1 serial), and the driver disk. Apparently I never threw out my first CD burner a super slow HP unit, cause I found it. In additon to all that I also found a box of misc floppy disks, that I cant even check to see what's on them because none of my PC's have floppy disks anymore. And I even found my ZIP drive and disks. Both the internal 250mb and the 100mb Parallel port version. You know the one that ran so slow you thought you were going to die before it finished.
About the only thing didn't find were my 2400baud modem, 5in floppy disks, you know, the ones that were actually "floppy". And the one 7in floppy I used to have. Yes before 5in floppy disks they came even bigger. I think it held 64k or 128k.
Wow. Those were the days. I can even remember the cassettte tape drive on the TRS-80. No, really, actual cassette tapes like the ones you could buy at "TapeWorld or "RecordTown". Oh jeeze. I don't even want to hear a comment about records. Whatever happened to those stores anyway?
Well I was going to put the whole lot on e-bay but I think e-bay is where you put stuff you want people to buy. I'm willing to pay to make it all go away.
I have the video-out on the system using the 350's s-video out.
When I tried having both the VGA-out and the s-video out on the 440, I was able to set up the display such that I could get a windows desktop mirrored onto my TV OK, but anytime I sent video out, it was all "blown up" or zoomed-- as if a central 1/3 of the original content were being blown up to fit the whole TV. I changed a few reasonable settings in the NVidia controls, but could not get it right.
I gave up and put the TV signal back on the 350, and the monitor still on the 440. So I can't get rid of the monitor in my entertainment center...
However, something is wrong that was right before. Initially (perhaps before I put the full 440 drivers/control panel in place) WinTV liveTV window was fine, the nanoedit video display was fine, the Hauppauge-bundled DVD-burning softwares video preview window was fine- the content was nice resolution, accurate.
Now, the WinTV window is fine, liveTV is OK. But WinTV recorded items show the same "zoomed" effect--- and so do the nanoedit and DVD-creating tools from the Hauppauge install. VLC is also affected. However, it's only the VIEW-- if I make a DVD of anythin using the nanoedit or DVD burning app, the DVD is fine.
All outputs from the 350 using GBPVR are fine... live TV, recorded TV, webstreams of recorded stuff, etc.
So. Something I did with the 440 settings is messing things up, or the VLC drivers are messing something up (I installed both and did things for a while before I went back to use nanoedit to cut a segment for my wife to use for teaching). But I thought the WinTV and nanoedit/DVDburning app used the same drivers, and VLC used its own-- and WinV works properly, the others don't, and VLC doesn't...
It's a bit of a pain to get back there and move things around so I haven't done as much testing as I would like; it seems that many options aren't available for me to change in theh NVidia controls unless I have both outputs of the card in use.
Can someone give me some things to check or change next time I've prezel-ed around and hooked things back up again? I'd love to get rid of the monitor.
I can also install VNC to simply get rid of the monitor (and likely will) and I love the image quality coming directly out of the 350 to the TV, but in order to edit segements I really need to have the tools displaying properly so I can pick cut points.... even if it's through VNC...

I have a 37inch lcd telly with both vga and the dvi thingy input.
I am building from scratch a sytem (on a budget)
i need a tv card (my present one is not supported)
I am plannin on using a via m10000 motherboard with 512mb ram and windows xp pro.
As i can connect telly straight to this board i would like a tv card with remote that will work with this software, now being a fairly big telly quality is important.
additionally i have the following questions:-
how many hours can be recorded per 100Gb?
will this m'board/ram be enough?
i have on my network a server running "yac" which sends cid to all pc's from my phone line to all pc's (and my squeezebox) on my network has anyone written a plug in so that cid info is bought up on the telly? http://sunflowerhead.com/software/yac/ i am not a software developer (hardware engineer--yes a real one i can still remember how to re-wire a corestore) but the source is avalible for this project and it would be a great addon...?yes?
any suggestions/advice would be great.
this is my first post on this forum so please be gentle with a newbie
I just installed GBPVR and was going to show my wife how easy it is to recored. She noticed that the start time indicated for a program was 6:00pm when it should be 7:00pm. So 1), is there some place to specify timezone? I setup zap2it and specified my cable comp. in my city. I would think that would be enough. 2) Since the TV Guide says that this program starts at 6:00pm, will the recording start at 6:00pm or when the tv show is actually runs, which is 7:00pm?
I am having audio problems when I play back some recordings. So far I have recorded 8 shows, and the problem occurs on 2 of them. I have tried changing audio decoders, but the problem is still there (in the same spots too). The problem is also there when I watch the recordings on windows media player. I'm not sure why it is happening sometimes, but not others. Right now I am using Intervideo NonCSS Video and audio decoders, and the audio renderer is set to "Default Waveout device" (I've tried changing this too). The problem is just a crackling noise for a second, and then it goes away. It happens very often though throughout the episode. My computer is 2.4 GHZ, windows XP home, 1.25 GB ram. Any ideas of what the problem could be? The only thing that I could think of is that some other program was running on my computer when it was recording, and it caused these audio "hiccups" - but I know nothing about this stuff. The video is perfect though...

Hi all,
I was wondering if there is a way to get BleepBlop to work with a HIP/MCE 2005 installation? BleepBloop worked great w/ my MCE 2005 remote prior to installing HIP (it sitll works great with the keyboard or mouse even after).
