I'm fairly new to this program but when I try to watch live tv it says that it is playing on the tv out. I'm probably missing he obvious somewhere but how can I just watch on my computer? I'm using a Hauppauge WinTV 350 card.
Ive had this problem with the two most recent GB-PVR releases. When I schedule a show to record...
"record season (all in this daily time slot, this channel)"
I dont see more than one instance of the show under pending recordings. Even though no shows, beyond the first, appear under "pending", the shows still appear under "reoccuring" and the settings listed are correct. I have tried the following...
1) deleting all pending and reoccuring shows and starting with a clean slate in case something i hadnt noticed was conflicting. With no recording jobs scheduled I tried again and still had the same problem.
2) I just installed the version ( 09707 )-- no difference.
I dont have this problem with all shows. With some other shows everything works fine and as soon as I've scheduled the reoccuring season recording I can go straight to the pending list and see all of the upcoming episodes ready to go. Certain shows always schedule perfectly. Certain other shows NEVER schedule correctly. I have been recording the problem shows by scheduling them one at a time - bit of a hassle.
Change Log
14 May 2006 - Version 3.6 - .Net 2 and Sql-Lite
* .Net 2 recompiled
* Updated DB libraries to use whatever GBPVR is (MS-Access or SQL-Lite)
* Fixed a bug where the queue button had stopped operating from the left screen.
* Added a basic Album Art download from Amazon - works with albums and artists - use if from the top, or title panels - Control-K (Record button)
I've made this sticky (closed) thread to post useful information about problems that may arrise, or to get useful tips out there. I'll add more information to this thread as we start to get feedback from this new release. If anyone has info they feel should be included here, please PM me.
Some important first comments though...
Installing v0.97.7
As always, its recommended that you backup your config.xml and gbpvr.mdb files if you're upgrading from a previous release.
I recommend switching back to the default Blue skin until your skin of choice has been updated for compatibility with this new release.
If you encounter problems with anything starting, I recommend the first thing you try is temporarily removing the DLLs from the c:\programfiles\devnz\gbpvr\plugin directory. Some of the original .net 1.1 plugins work fine, but some other will need to updated by their respective authors. Dont just ignore this paragraph - this has resolved most issues that have popped up with v0.97.7.
I've just had found out that a recording I was watching stopped recording before it was meant to.
The size of the recording appears to be around 4Gb. I've just realised that the recording partition is FAT32. Is this the reason? If it was NTFS would it have continued?
Hi - I have a few basic questions.
1) can GBPVR replay to TV?
2) what are minimum characteristics for PC / laptop?
3) What's the best TV tuner for a laptop?
Thanks .. Andy
NOD32, Panda Antivirus and Net Limiter are known to be incompatible with .NET 2.0 Remoting, which is used by GB-PVR. If any of these apps are installed on your machine, they will cause the Recording Service crash, so they must be uninstalled before installing this update.

Much of the development time for this release has gone into background like moving to .NET 2.0, changing database and having another daughter, but I have still managed to add in a few new features to keep things progressing forward.

If you encounter problems with anything starting. I recommend the first thing you try is disabling all plugins with the checkbox on the plugins screen of the config app. Most of the original .net 1.1 plugins work fine, but some will need to updated by their respective authors. One plugin known to cause problems is Picture Library, so deleting pictureslibrary.dll from the plugins directory is a good idea.
The change log lists:
Quote:
2006-5-13 v0.97.7
- Moved application to .Net 2.0
- Added option to use SQLite database instead of MS Access. Optional in this release. Mandatory in the next release. I've included a utility which can be used to switch databases, and to migrate your existing data. It should also be possible to use other databases like MSDE and SQL Server with minimal work and a few changes to the config.xml
- Added DiSEqC support for Hauppauge Nova-S-Plus/SE2
- Added 'Photo Library'.
- Added logic to stop machine going to sleep while UpdateEPG.bat executes.
- Added support for booting the newer "H" models of Hauppauge MVP. Dont use these new models with gbmvp.bin though - use dongle.bin (there has been some changes to the hardware it doesnt cope with yet).
- Added channel scanning for ATSC
- Added ability to Update EPG from the System menu
- Improved teletext to include direct selection of subpages. When viewing teletext up/down changes pages, left/right changes between subpages.
- changes to how aspect ratio control work, including automatic aspect ratio (where possible), and dynamic detection of aspect ratio changes in DVB streams. For this to work correctly with MPEG2 files, you need to have explicitly specified the MPEG2 decoder rather than relying on the 'System Default' setting.
- Improved handling of non-english characters with DVB EPG.
- Updated MVP's transcoding feature so that it will now also handle .MP4 files.
- Implemented partial support for DVB channels using H264 video streams (MPEG-4). This only provides partial support - it'll give you correct identification of these channels when scanning, and if you're lucky, live preview mode live tv. Very experimental...If you've got the correct combination of directshow filters, and the wind is blowing in the right direction, then it might work. Recording will be implemented in a future release.
- Case will be ignored when showing the group names in the Recordings screen.
- Changed the way GB-PVR determines the machines IP address, which may be more friendly to wireless setups.
- Improved handling for switching between different types of audio/video used on different DVB channels
- XMLTV EPG plugin will now accept the non-standard zap2it <episode-num> element for supplying the unique show id.
- Fixed a bug with MCE2005 IR Blaster support
- Fixed a bug with direct recording plugin's "external tuner, constant channel" option.
- Fixed a bug with the MVP which could result in disconnects
- Fixed a bug with changing channels with DVB-C
- Fixed a bug that could cause the screen saver to stay active, after having been active for a long time.
- Fixed a bug with video playback on the MVP when the file timestamps did not start from zero (like those captured by the Maui devices). File duration could be reported as much longer than they really were, resulting in problems with skipping and determining the current position.
- Fixed a bug that could result in the user being kicked out of live tv after 30 seconds.
- Fixed a bug with the MVP interrupting WMA playback to play another WMA file.
- Fixed a bug that could result in missing lines of Teletext data or missing teletext subtitles.
- Fixed a bug with duplicate recordings.
- Fixed a bug that would cause strange behaviour in the FM Radio screen if you'd entered two radio stations with the same name (unable to add new stations, edit station names etc).
- Fixed a bug with using the DVR-MS mux with timeshift mode tv.
Not of earth shattering importance, but would it be possible to contemplate allowing configuring of the 'data' directory where the database and log files etc are kept. It's just that I like to keep fairly static stuff like programs on a separate drive and back it up less often compared to data which gets backed up more often (honestly).
