Well, lets see. I'm building a micro atx to put next to my dvd player and I'm wirelessly networking it to my network, too much wiring through the house otherwise and the lady of the house hates that. Well, I am going to tos in a PVR500 runnning xp pro so I can record a show while watching another one. Well, that said, the pvr uses ethernet and I don't want that, is there a USB option or should I just install a video card with video out, I will be wanting to use my TV occasionally for setup reasons as a monitor, but most of the time I will use it for PVR only so I'm not quite sure what to do, my GBPVR looks good, but with the resolution on my computer, it looks pretty bad, but TV resoluton is no where near so it will look better on there I know,
but I need something I can use for video out that will support at least 600x800 if not 1024x768 resonably enough to edit scripts. but still go down to a resonable resolution to make GBPVR look good on the TV screen. Well, if you need to know the hardware involved, chipsetnot sure yet, but AMD athlon 64, 1-2GB ram depending on sales, 400Gb HD, Haup PVR500, win XP pro, ned to know if I should get a good PCIE video card with video out or if there is a USB option like MVP. Ok, I'm tired so excuse my repetition and atrocious spelling.
Edited 4-23-06: So I have not recieved a single reply, is this because it is a stupid question or no one knows the answer? I just want to know if there is anything that I can use for tv out that will give good resolution when I want, but go down in res to make GB look good that is either a decent PCI-E card or USB and not ethernet, because that means a lot of work to use it.
I was working on getting my Set Top Box to change channels with the WinTV PVR2 USB2 card and the IrBlaster it came with. I installed Hip and went about setting it up , got a bit confused with connecting the IR blaster and HIP program but as I was still in the process have now noticed that my recordings don't have any sound now.
I've searched the forum for an answer to this and haven't found it...... hope someone can help...... I'm using GB-PVR on an MVP (wirelessly) and everything functions perfectly, even live TV...... my only problem is that when scrolling through the video library, the list goes off the screen at the bottom. I know there must be a way to control the display size, but I can't find it. I'd also like to be able to make the fonts a little smaller in the TV guide, and video list. Can anyone help me out with this....???
This is my first post and I am new to GB-PVR using MediaMVP
Please assist me with the following :
1. I notice my menu options that I see on my PC is not the same on my TV.
I selected DVD and Fm Radio but they are ommited from the menu on the TV
2. There is no options for Pictures, if see Videos and Music
3. Are there any hot keys for menu options iso using the up and down arrows on the remote ?
4. When I select Music from the menu, I get a list of my albums with default icons. When I click on the album I see the cover art and when I click on the cover art, all the song titles displays as icons. How do I get it to show me a list instead ?
I generate my XML file with TVXB in Singapore. I notice that whenever there is any episode details in the program listing, the episode name/number shows up in the GBPVR TV Guide instead of the program name.
Here is a sample listing on the channel website:
Malcolm In The Middle (Season 2) :
Tutoring Reese (Ep 221)
Take a look at a middle class family, made up of exasperated parents and their four squabbling sons, as seen through the eyes of Malcolm.
Cast : Frankie Muniz
(Ep 221)
And here is what went into the XML file:
<programme start="20060420183000 +0800" stop="20060420190000 +0800" channel="18.starworld.sg">
<title lang="en">Malcolm In The Middle (Season 2)</title>
<title lang="en">Tutoring Reese</title>
<sub-title lang="en">Ep 221</sub-title>
<desc>
Take a look at a middle class family, made up of exasperated parents and their four squabbling sons, as seen through the eyes of Malcolm.
</desc>
<credits>
<actor>Frankie Muniz</actor>
</credits>
</programme>
Notice that there are two <title.. lines in the XML. Is this ok? I figure that the GBPVR TV Guide only reads the second <title line and shows "Tutoring Reese" in the listing. The Program name is nowhere to be found in the Guide.
I have a Shuttle-based PC running Windows XP and a Hauppauge PVR500MCE dual-tuner card in it with all the drivers installed correctly. It works OK in Showshifter (15 day trial, not totally impressed and prefer the look of gbpvr) but, and installing gbpvr, I've tried for ages to configure it and the PVR500 just isn't available in the list. I've ticked the 'show only cards found' and that produces a message saying there aren't any!
This site says it's a supported card but I just can't seem to get it working.
Has anyone got any ideas? Is there any other software I need to install for this card?
I have started to think about a ThemeManager functionality for the BaseSkin and its ThemePacks.
I am not a programmer and a lousy with graphical stuff, but I have some friends that are better than I am, so there will be a "plugin/program" some day.
Perhaps Dottore and Torque would like to have some background/button change features for their skins, so a "general" ThemeChanger functionality would be nice to have.
Each skin could have their own Themes subdir with a specific config file for updates and Skin/ThemePacks for that specific skin.
I will write down my thoughts on functionality in this post.
Features
- Client Plugin and your Server for updates/viewing
- General background/button change functionality with all skins
- Download and/or update BaseSkin or other skin
- Download and/or update ThemePacks
- Download and/or update AppearancePacks for Themes/Skins
- Change GUI settings in config.xml
- Change Language.xml
- ???
The idea - a TDF (Theme Defentition File)
The Plugin gets a TDF file and the rest is done "AutoMagically"
The TDF is an XML file with all info about a skin or a theme.
The TDF has a standard for naming
TDF Name: "Name"."Type"."Extention" eg. SharperEdge.Theme.exe
Preview: Previev-"Name".jpg eg. Preview.SharperEdge.jpg
TDF file could be something like this, for the plugin/program to act upon:
<Type>Theme</Type> (skin, theme, xml, plugin)
<ActiveTheme>YES</ActiveTheme>
<ThemeName>BlueGBPVR<ThemeName>
<ThemePreviewURL>http://www.hyperlink.com/BlueGBPVR.jpg</ThemePreviewURL>
<ThemeDownloadURL>http://www.hyperlink.com/Advisor.GBPVR.exe</ThemeDownloadURL>
<DownloadPath>.\skins\baseskin\AllBaseSkinThemes\</DownloadPath> (relative InstallDir)
<ExecuteAfterDownload>Advisor.GBPVR.exe</ExecuteAfterDownload>
<Description>This theme is based on Subs original Blue design</Description>
<Version>2.0</Version>
<Compatibility>Baseskin 2.0</Compatibility>
<Author>Mixman</Author>
<!-- config.xml settings -->
<ActiveSkin>BaseSkin</ActiveSkin>
<AnimateTaskTransitions>false</AnimateTaskTransitions>
<AnimationStepCount>7</AnimationStepCount>
ThemeManager Menus
The ThemeMangager should have sub menus for different functions.
Today the ThemePacks uses WinRars sfxoption.txt file to create the exe file.
This makes it very easy to create a ThemePack by running a BAT file.
There is both pre and post execute options with WinRar.
The ThemePack.exe runs a BAT file that copies files, after the unpacking of files.
The plugin needs to be able to download a TDF file, download what is specified in the TDF file and execute the downloaded file.
Appearance Sub Menu - What shall the end user be able to set/change ?
Similar function like AM, but with more configuration possibilities for different Themes and ThemePacks like the BaseSkin has.
- Language
- MainMenu background
- SubMenu background
- Buttons
- TaskImage animation ?
- Overscan ?
- Newsfeeds
- Calendars
- Radio Streams
Themes Sub Menu - ThemePacks
- View List/Preview
- Update
- Select/Apply
More defenitions should be in the file.......so more will come.
