I was having lots of problems after upgrading to GBPVR 96.12.. several times a day, GBPVR would hang and crash in timeshifting mode when the program changed (e.g. at 1pm a new show starts, and it hangs, etc.)
Looking at the logs everytime it crashed, there was nothing at all strange going on, except that it seemed to coincide with entries indicating the Weather plugin was downloading a new forecast. On a hunch, I disabled the plugin.. problem gone!
Anyone else having this problem.. or any idea why this would happen? I never had a problem with 95.16.. its only since upgrading that this problem has crept up.
I have everything all set up, but it seems as though t he GBPVR spfdtware wont link up with the MVP because the MVP cannot find servers. I have it connected to the computer directly with a crossover cabel. I'm just wondering if possibly it's not working because it has to be hooked up directly through the router for it to work. Is that why it isn't working or should it work this way? please let me know.
I can't seem to find any docs to tell me how to modify the Aspect Ratio section of the config so that I can limit it to 16:9 or 4:3 only (so I don't have to hit F7 a whack of times to find the ratio I want).
I've found the section of Config.xml to edit but no clue what to do with it.
I've been working away on a little plugin to allow GB-PVR to work with a SkyStar2 card. So far, I've written a dll (in C++) that can tune the card, set all the PIDS, multiplex the audio and video and dump the file to disk. I've got all this working OK with a separate command line .exe; so it can be semi-integrated with GB-PVR using the ExternalRecorder plugin.
What I'd like to do next is integrate it properly with GB-PVR, i.e. develop a C# plugin that appears as a Recording Source in the config application. The plugin could then call my dll functions to start/stop recording etc.
What's the easiest route to take? I've been looking through normanr's source code for SoftwareRecorder and ExternalRecorder and it seems that the plugin has to implement the IRecordingSource and IRecordingSourceConfiguration members; I've had a quick go at this but can't get the plugin to appear as a recording source (but GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log seems to make reference to it).
Would the best starting point be to modify the ExternalRecorder code (with Norman's permission, of course!) and replace all his calls to a command line program with calls to my dll?
My machine has a PVR-150 and a Nova-t and has been generally stable but I've had two crashes over the last few days that I can't find any info on. The event logs shows the following:
Application error:Faulting application GBPVRRecordingService.exe, version 1.0.2168.28053, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x000111de.

The last time this happened toady the above two event errors start at 12:34 and are then repeated at seemingly random intervals of around 5 minutes until I noticed and rebooted the machine. Selecting 'Don't Send' from the alert screen just causes another alert to pop up and it seems a reboot is the quickest way to sort it - especially when the other half is moaning that it's not recording the Commonwealth Games!
It was recording at the time but it had started earlier, at 12 I think.
The machine is a P4 3.0 GHz with 1 GB RAM running XP SP2, GBPVR and very little else.
The logs are also attached, any help will be very much appreciated.

Well I've been trying to figure out this error for a while now, its stopping my whole process for my PVR. I get the nativeutilities error when I open up the config, and when I go to save my settings in config as well. Ive uninstalled almost everything on my machine and reinstalled it to try and get this to work. I have the newest windows media player, .NET v1.1, Windows newest service pack for XP. Anyone have any new ideas??
I have recently upgraded my computer with a new board and video card: an Asus A8N-E and an Asus Radeon X1900. I also use a Powercolor tuner (ATI Theater 550 chip). Since then, I've got a LOT a problem with GBPVR (and also Intervideo, Cyberlink, Mediaportal, SnapStream...softwares): mostly system crashes or freezes when scanning or changing channels. Sound and video were very out of sync too.
After at least one week of install/unistall, the solution was pretty simple: I have to upgrade the BIOS... The changes given by the newest bios were:
1- Fix sometimes asusupdate will show Unknown flash.
2- Update awdflash to v1.16 to avoid the system BIOS being downgraded
3- Add an option in the Bios to Enable/Disable "Wake up from S1/S3/S4".
4- Fixed instant Music function fail issue.
So, for me, it was not clear this will resolve my troubles. Anyway, it seems I was totally wrong. Since the bios upgrade, my system is very stable, not crash at all, no sound stutter or out of sync (desinterlace set to none).
Here are some advises you should take in consideration if, like me, have troubles with a new config:
-get the latest bios of course! (but be sure you know what you're doing here)
-check if you have a mux filter (It takes me some time to "understand" this)
-stay away of .Net 2, use .Net 1.1
-ATI card: maybe you should disable the VPU Recover. Catalyst Control Center seems to work better with .net 1.1 too.
Sorry for my English. I hope I could help someone with that. GBPVR is the best PVR software you can use with a tuner, so it is a shame if you cannot find your "bug".
BTW, ContourHC skin, Music Library2 and Weather plugins are really great!!
I want to clarify how timeshift is suppposed to work. Last night I was watching a 2-hour movie on CBS that started about 40 minutes late (instead of 9, it was 9:40 when I tuned in). I used timeshift during the movie which seemed to work fine, until the scheduled end of the movie (11:00 PM) then it stopped. It sort of acted like a recording rather than timeshift and the progress bar showed 2:00:00 at the end of the bar. I lost the rest of the movie when it stopped and could not finish it.
Why did it just record until 11 and not continue to record as long as there is enough disk space? I have plenty of disk space by the way. If this is normal, is there a way to change it?
