I hope someone can put me out of my misery, setup as follows
Latest gbpvr release
PVR 150 (latest drivers) using Svid in and line in sound
Output is just line out from onboard sound
All videos/live tv/net radio play fine no problems but after recording from TV and playing it back it's distorted and loud.. strange, my vol settings are normal, if i play back the mpg via WMP or somthing else that is fine too so i know what it records is fine just not when it plays it back through GBPVR.
So it's abit annoying to having to quit GBPVR just to watch recorded shows, i've tried deleting the reg vol key but that made no difference.
i switch aspect ratio using F7 to something i like and every once in a while it would change (or "jump") and have weird artifacts on screen. it would then pop back after a couple of seconds.
I am using the Mar 16 plugin on 0.96.12. I set the plugin to use SI units, but it displays the fahrenheit with deg C after it. Not so useful. I am in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
My question: Is it normal to have the PC act lethargic after a few recording sessions? When I say sluggish, I mean when I click on a program like IE or the main GB-PVR icon, it can take 5-15 seconds to lauch. After a reboot, all programs lauch quickly, within 2-3 seconds - it just appears that after recording, the machine bogs down. It's not a hardware issue that I can tell.
I originally had my PVR box running XP Pro on a Sempron 2800 64 (socket 754) with a Epox EP-8KDA3J w/ 1.5 gigs of RAM with a 250GB 16MB cache Maxtor storage PATA IDE drive. The OS was running on it's own 80GB 8MB PATA drive.
Thinking the lack of L2 cache (256KB) might be an issue, I bought a new P4 motherboard and a new Prescott 2.4Ghz socket 478 CPU which has a 1MB L2 cache. I also popped in a 36GB SATA Raptor as a boot drive, keeping the 250GB 16MB cache Maxtor as a storage drive. I dropped the RAM to 512MB and overall the machine was quite a bit more responsive than the Sempron after first boot.
Then I noticied it too started bogging down and getting lethargic after recording some shows. It's not negatively affecting the PVR machine's ability to do it's job - it just bugs me that fairly powerful machines are acting lethargic after recording some videos.
CPU utilization is around 35-40% when recording, around 5% or less on playback, and memory useage is ~300-350MB out of 512 total.
Any tips other than a periodic reboot or some cacheman type approach? Or is this just the nature of GB-PVR along with .dotnet?

I'm using comskip with reboot's ini file and everything is working very well, but I do have one question (for now). I have used config.exe to setup GBPVR to run comskip after recording. Tonight after watching a previously recorded show, I wanted to be able to put the computer into stand-by, but don't want to kill comskip while it was still analyzing the most recent recording. Is there a way to tell that comskip has finished marking the commercials?
I recently broke my 45-button Hauppauge remote (long story), and i have been eyeing the MCE 2005 remote. If i get this, on an XP Home SP2 computer, will it just work with GBPVR with no configuration?
I had an older install of GBPVR that was working (which I of course did not backup). I'm trying to install GBPVR09612, but I'm running into problems. I uninstalled my previous installation, deleted the gbpvr directory, deleted all of the gbpvr registry entries and then reinstalled. Once I click 'Finish' on the installer to enter the config app, a .NET error pops up with the following detail message. If I try to continue, the same error pops up when I try to save my config by pressing 'OK'.
I tried uninstalling and running the older installer I had, but I recieve the same issue. Is there something I'm not removing from these installs? I reinstalled the .NET runtime just to make sure nothing was corrupted. All I want is to start out with a fresh, working gbpvr install. Ideas? Help!

Hi there,
I've been running GBPVR in my main system for some time now. It works great.
However I recently built a dedicated media system and moved my tuner over to the new machine.
Everything on the new machine is set up in the same way as the old one. I'm using a Freecom USB Stick with the Yakumo drivers and Showshifter mux.
The install went fine, and GBPVR detected the tuner as normal.
Unfortunately I cannot add any channels. Config.exe crashes with a generic Windows error (Config.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close... sorry for the unhelpful error message... etc) whenever I try to use the channel mapping tool.
It gets to around channel 25, then I can hear music playing for a few seconds but no video appears, then it crashes. Just before everything locks up, I can see the full channel list appear on the right hand side.
I've had a look through the logs but couldn't find any obvious errors. I'm not sure what to look for anyway.
I am using Zoltrix TV Genie. The tv tuner card pipes audio to my motherboard's internal aux audio connector. The TV Genie software works fine. I get video and audio, but the recording features are very basic.
I am trying to get GBPVR v0.96 + Software Recorder v0.24 working. I get video in LiveTV mode but no sound. I played around with the Software Recorder options but to no avail. I need some help diagnosing the problem.
Is it a limitation of the Software Recorder plugin? Have a look at the attached screenshot of the Software Recorder config. I selected Aux as the Input for the Audio Capture card, but the Recording Source setting only gives me the option of Video:Tuner, Audio: Tuner. Why no option for Aux? This may be the reason or maybe not. I am stumped on how to get this configured properly.
