Whenever I open the web app I get a blank page with just the Header Bar as normal and three headings down the left side of the page for
Available Storage
Recent Recordings
Upcoming Recordings
But the page is blank...
I have to select Settings from the tool bar, select logout, then the login page appears and I can login and everything appears as normal.
The problem I have to do this very time I want to use the app even though I have ticked the remember me box.
Is this common or is there a fix?
It finds the hdhomerun fine and channels, but then doesn't populate the epg.
Also if I try tune to a channel I just get "Stream Failed Transcoder Exited"
(this is separate from my previous thread which was fixed by an incorrect timeshift setting)
For HLS streams, live TV doesn't seem to work. I get no picture, and a short blip (~500ms) of audio, and then nothing else. I've detected that NextPVR v5 is making dozens of requests per second to the server (I guess looking for more chunks?), if that is a clue. This worked fine in v4, and it did not have excessive requests either.
The buffer file grows as expected and plays back just fine. Recordings are fine too.
Logs and map file attached, thanks!
p.s. on a related note, I noticed that TS streams with the MIME type video/m2ts get needlessly transcoded through ffmpeg. Could this be changed? It seems like only video/mp2t is left as-is.
I started to experience strange behaviour with my V5 installation of 5.0.2 on Win10 where the client would play TV but the options to record had disappeared. To try and fix this I tried an uninstall and re-install. When I execute NPVRSetup.exe the file install stage fails with the attached error message displayed. This is quite unlike anything I've seen. I have applied SFC and DISM repairs and both report clean.
So I am unable to proceed with the install. Does anyone have any ideas on what is happening?
It would be quite a good thing for me if you could implement a working WOL function for NPVR5 clients. I know that there was some sort of WOL check box in NPVR4, but it never worked for me. I had to write a script that would execute a little program called "mc-wol.exe" before starting the client in Windows (server went to sleep if not being used). If any client had that feature, it would be very convenient IMO.
While locked down at home I thought it would be good to try out v.5, I read on the Wiki that it will run with v.4.
This won't work for me as I cannot set it up.
When I try to run the web app with http://localhost:8866/index.html or from the system tray icon it tries to run the v5 web app but then switches to the v.4 web app http://localhost:8866/modern/index.html.
If I try anything else I get a browser 404 error message.
Does this mean I have to uninstall version 4 before I can test version 5??
I'm trying to replace my decade-old MythTV setup on Ubuntu with NextPVR.
My 2 USB-DVB-C-Tuners (CableStar Combo HD CI) have been working flawlessly all the time, but are obviously not recognized by NextPVR.
Prolog:
- The old MythTV-Service was shot down, to not block any DVB devices.
- NextPVR was installed on Ubuntu "eoan" following the description in the wiki. This basically worked without problems and the web UI was available after completion. However, it did not show any devices.
Analysis:
Device-Check:

The EPG listings are off for my NPVR pc by 1 hour before the daylight saving change happens later tonight
The EPG is from epg-collector's XMLTV file run at 6PM for both MCE and NPVR.
The computer system time is correct and so is the windows MCE Guide but the NPVR guide is off by 1 hour well before the daylight saving change takes effect at 3am on the 5th of April
I've attached a Picture of the same xml loaded Guide displayed correctly in MCE and out by 1 hour in NVPR's guide page
The recordings set for between 6pm 4th and 3am 5th are also recorded out by 1 hour
NPVR is v4.2.4
This has happened on past daylight saving days I just have not managed to document it till now
cheers
Making the plunge into v5! I had the pixelization problem with the HDPVR2 which was fixed by sub's patch in another thread.
Now I'm seeing an issue with IPTV channels. If I try to watch them live (Windows client), I get a black screen and no audio. But, the buffer file grows and plays back fine.
If I make a recording of the same channel, that recording plays back fine in the client as well. So it seems something is up with just the live TV path?
I've tried all permutations of decoders to no avail. Currently using my usual, Microsoft DTV-DVD for H.264 and LAV for AAC.
