Ok the program works great, and I can watch tv perfectly. The auto recorder also works great as well. THe only problem im having is when i try to record live tv when i go to exit the program just stops responding. any ideas?

I had just bought the adaptec videoh! USB from compusa (75$ after rebate). It works great with gbpvr, the quality of the video is superb. I have only one issue and is that I can't use the adaptec remote.
Any ideas how can I configure a new remote to work with gbpvr and in particular the adaptec remote ?
I've been concerned about the ever growing DB size over time. After a few days of EPG updates my database rapidly grows above 60GB and shows no signs of stopping.
So I've worked up a solution to keep the database compressed. I've set up a scheduled task to reboot the system in the early morning hours, ~ 7AM or so, when no one is normally using the system (the drawback obviously is possible recordings scheduled but I'm working on that problem.)
When the system reboots, "GB-PVR Recording Service" is set to Manual rather than Automatic start (the database must be idle for the compress to work.)
As part of the Startup menu I have modified my GBPVR start batch to
- launch MSAccess from the command line with the /compress option
- start the GB-PVR Recording Service
- launch GBPVR in the second display in fullscreen mode.
It's a very simple batch process at bootup:

This process keeps my database in the 6-10GB range which seems to help significantly when using the web interface, searches, etc.
The ideal situation would be to be able to tell when the database is idle i.e. no recordings, no one watching TV, etc. At this point the recording service would be stopped to release the database and the compress would run and the recording service restarted. This is beyond the batch capability and the logical place for this would be either in the main code or a plugin if the database status is available somehow.
I used DVD2MPG to turn a couple of my daughters DVDs into MPGs so that she can watch them through the MVP using XRecord. It seemed to work great and is a nice, easy, handy tool to have.
My question has to do with the size of the resulting files. I understand they are just ripped DVDs, so they are the same quality as a DVD. When recording TV, I use the Medium setting and the quality is just fine given my TV. Is there an easy way to reduce the quality and size of the mpgs that come out of DVD2MPG to the same level as Medium recordings? The DVD mpgs seem are about 4Gig/hr, while TV recordings are 2Gig/hr.
The title says it all: I've tried ripping DVDs to disk. The video plays fine but there is no audio. I'm sure I've got something configured incorrectly but I'm at a loss.

It's been a while since I posted in here but I refuse to give up on GBPVR. I use it quite a bit for recording and I would use it all the time if I could get past some bugs.
It seems that my gbpvr will be fine while and play 'most' files with no problems. MPEG's are fine, and Divx videos I created with DivX convertor are fine. If I try and use someone elses' mpegs it stops after starting to play for a few seconds. Most of the time it takes me back to the menu and other times it completely crashes GBPVR.
These same files play like a champ under the native MVP softwre from Hauppauge. They also play fine on the computer with no issues.
I started looking through the logs and I noticed this below. I am hoping that this might be the solution for my issue.

20:49:37.290 ERROR MainConcept (Hauppauge) MPEG Encoder not found. This is normally installed with the Hauppauge MediaMVP software, and is required to transcode a video file.

While this isn't the whole log file the rest is just normal verbosity. Anyone else have any idea's? I do have the MVP software installed so it "shouldn't" be missing. Thanks for your time and help, it's appreciated.
I´m using programs like Bitcontrol and Dreamtv for streaming TV to my computer from the Dreambox (DM500-T) over the home network. Is it possible to get this signal into Gbpvr mediacentre?
