I am trying to convert files to WMV format, and like others have done, I am getting the 99% bug. The conversion goes fine for the first 5 minutes or so, counting up the percentage, but then suddenly jumps to 99% and stays that way until it decides to finish.
The output file has audio and video in sync up until the progress jumps to 99% and then the audio stops and the video continues. The audio resumes, though very slow, towards the end of the video. The files won't allow seeking and either have a duration much longer than the recording or zero.
The GBPVRConvert.exe-native.log file looks ok as far as progressing through the conversion goes, but looking at it in more detail, I have noticed that the video codec is right (based on playback settings in the config app):

but there is no corresponding entry for fetching the audio decoder. When the graph is built, it uses the MPEG audio decoder and not the InterVideo audio decoder that I specified in the config app.

There is no entry in the log to suggest that it is not finding the audio decoder and skipping onto another one. Could the problem be that the MPEG audio decoder is not handling the input file properly and that is causing the 99% 'undocumented feature'?
Sub, is there a bit of code somewhere in the source for the program that checks for the audio decoder which is not outputted to the log?
Has anyone managed to convert to WMV successfully using the MPEG audio decoder, and does anyone's log detail a different audio decoder?
I'm playing with playback of recordings over the web via enhanced webadmin.
the GB-PVR box is on 802.11b wireless, although I have a 'g' router and likely have a spare PCI 802.11g card somewhere that could go into the PVR box.
I can get about 5 seconds of a movie to play (using VLC. OS X) using the URL created in the .m3u generated by webadmin. Playback then stops; except from webadmin log below. All my other admin tasks work fine via webadmin, whether LAN (direct connect to the XP box) or WAN (via ssh tunnel).
If I put the 10/100 wireless card in, will that be enough bandwidth for web playback within the LAN? From WAN side, it would be neat to be able to do remote playback, but I run external connections thru an sshtunnel- sshd supplied by a Cobalt Qube MIPS box running NetBSD, which I don't think has nearly the chutzpa for this task. It is unlikely that I'll replace it though, we have bonded .
How many people run their GBPVR naked to the world by forwarding port 7647 directly to the XP box? The idea makes me nervous to say the least...
Is there a way to "degrade" the quality on the fly so the streaming requirements would be less? The movies I'm testing with are set up as "medium" quality, using the default settings for "medium".

I've been convinced to do a fresh install rather than trying to move my hard drives to the new machine. I am currently running XP Pro SP2 with a single PVR 150. I purchased an additional 150 and would like the new machine installed with both. New machine will also run XP Pro. My C drive contains OS and software and a D drive for GBPVR recordings. I would love to be able to copy necessary files from old C drive to new C drive and move the D drive with recording to new machine.
What do I need to move from old computer to new so that I retain my menu of recordings? Would it be better to build new machine with a single PVR 150 to match existing machine, load GBPVR, get the data transfered and working, and then add the second 150 or start with both 150's installed before loading GBPVR and transfering files?
I'm sure there are various ways to work through this, but I would love to hear from the more experienced. Thanks in advance.
The zapinterface and zapimport files of ZapTools have been updated and the binaries as weel as the source are on the wiki.
The Interface.dll has been updated by jorm to use the Mutex command to single thread DB access. This will help with update bottlenecking that has beein occuring on some machines.
The zapimport.exe app has been updated to allow the reuse of the Zap2it XML that GBPVR already downloads rather than re-downloading the same XML again in the postepgupdate process. This will save Zap2it Labs some bandwidth.
If you are using this tool to supplement GBPVR data I strongly recommend taking advantage of the XML reuse option.
To take advantage of this feature simply set the <SaveZap2itXML> tag in the config.xml file of GBPVR to true and set the UseGBPVR_XML value in the new zapimport config file to true. This will increase overall zapimport time by at least 1 minute.
I'm currently using the lastest GBPVR software, everything recording wise seems to work in GBPVR and I can access the configuration. But when I go to launch GBPVR itself the window never comes up, the computer looks like it's trying to open it but it won't open. this is the first time this has happened so I'm unsure to what the cause of it is.
I used to use the VMR, but had to switch to the Overlay Manager (third option on th config screen) when I used the resume video option (otherwise that resume/restart option box didnt seem to appear and one couldnt watch the program!)
However with the Overlay Manager you cant change the aspect ratio anymore as far as I can see and this cuts off the top and bottom of the screen on most shows.
Any idea how to get the the aspect ratio to change again or to be right?
I have trawled this site and the available plugins but can't find what I'm looking for!
It occurs to me that it would be great to be able to see on one screen all the upcoming films on one channels (or all where like here in the UK we dont have that many channels!) in the next week.
I would have thought a search of the guide for programs over 1.5hrs or so in length would catch most, and then clicking on them would allow one to record them
It seems the kind of thing that someone might well have done already (I was hoping!). Any thoughts - or does it just not work? Or do I need to learn how to write a plug-in to find out!!?
I've been looking at commskip, lots of docs, and posts and see that it probably works best in post processing...
What I was hoping for is a way to have the audio set to mute or XX % during commercials while watching Live TV automatically...
I suppose if there WAS a commerical I'd like to see/hear, I could rewind and unmute the audio.
And I suppose while I'm here, I'll add a wrinkle... How about: NOT postprocessing to remove commericals with commskip, but auto-muting the commericals during playback/viewing of the recorded programs?
I might not mind keeping my recordings with commericals, as I would probably delete them after a couple of weeks anyway, and wouldn't worry too much about disk space. (And I'm not interested in uploading to torrents, etc)
If something like this already exists, or I've missed the documentation, please let me know...

I think there's a problem with season recordings where the time slot changes?
I have noticed that I have a few instances where there are overlapped recordings on some shows for example, a time slot where it records 15:55 to 16:55 and then another of the same show 16:00 to 17:00.
Given that GBPVR sets up recording and allocates a tuner when it finds a new recording (at least that's how I understand it), it looks like although i'm doing a full EPG update, the show time changes slightly and hence it looks like GBPVR is seeing this as a new instance of the show and allocating a second tuner to the same show.
When I view the EPG via the web interface, I don't see these slightly overlapping instances of the same show.
This is a bit frustrating as yet again, i've got a couple of instances where two shows have overlapped like this on two seperate channels with the result that it thinks I need 4 tuners!
Am I correct in my understanding of how season recordings are set up and is there a neat solution to this at all?
When the recording service starts, it's about 45MB per task manager. This morning, I had overlapping recordings going since about 6:30am and still going in the afternoon.
The Recording service memory usage was at this time in the hundreds of MB, VM Size of over 560MB. My machine was commiting over 1GB in total with a couple of instances of GBPVR.EXE to the MVP's and was swapping and generally sluggish.
Upon restarting the recording service, it all dropped back down again but now has started going up again during another recording, it's pretty consistent at about 4KB to 8KB per second usage.
