Im looking to use GB-PVR with a PVR-500 on a system dedicated for pvr-only use. I've used this forum to solve my install problems relating to the correct .net version, directx etc. I'm now wondering...what now? I have no idea what all the options in the GB-PVR config are for. What options are just options I can optimize later and which must be set now in a certain manner. I cant find any basic setup walkthrough explaining what the options are for. My device doesnt appear under the hardware decoders and i cant seem to watch any tv although the tuner helper does show live tv...? I did my best searching the forums for a setup guide but couldnt find one. Please help
I'm trying to jerry-rig a podcasting section on my GBPVR (which I run through a mediamvp only). I'm trying to keep the podcasts outside of my normal music playback (running Music Library2 for my mp3s).
Instead I have a separate directory for podcasts. I launch Juice (an open source podcatcher) once a day and have it fetch new podcasts and clean out older podcasts into this directory. Juice stores individual podcasts in folders named after the podcast itself. (e.g. bbc_news folder holds files bbcnew02012006.mp3 and bbcnews020022006.mp3)
I then added the Music Albums plug-in, which is directory-based and doesn't use the default music folder used by GBPVR. This player will open and show the folders and files (thinking each podcast subscription is an album), but whenever I hit play I get an error message telling me "object reference not set to an instance of an object".
I'm using the lovely ContourHC skin, and moved over the Music Albums skins folder from Blue into the CountourHC folder.
Is there a simpler way for me to do this? Is there another directory based music plugin that allows me to add extra directories outside the default GBPVR setup?
And also is there anyway to rename plugins in the menu so that the player I'm specifying for shows up on the menus as Podcasts not Music Albums (for instance)?
Been using GBPVR with a Radeon 7000 (actually ASUS) 32mb video card/composite out.
I have noticed the newer cards have a "hardware-based" MPEG decoder on them.
Are there any advantages to this when running GBPVR??
I don't watch DVD's with GBPVR, just an occasional recorded TV program.
Most of the recorded shows are watched thru MVP's, which I understand has a built in hardware MPEG decoder.
I am having a problem with the weather plugin. It was working before. Now when I click on weather it says "Downloading Weather Forecast - Please wait while downloading weather forecast from msnbc.com, this may take a while depending on your internet connection" I wait and nothing happens. Please can somebody help. I have tried different area code, still the same.
The interest for translating GBPVR to other languages does not seem that high.
Sub will include the translations in next build.... but the responce for editing new strings is low.
I wonder if most users live in English speaking countries?
If you don't live in an English speaking country, do you still use GBPVR with English as display language ?

It seem like it is not possible to change the Country/language names afterwards. But if you live in Scotland, Wales or Ireland, select England.
If you live in Austria select Germany....
It is that language thats most interesting to me.
Is there any way to eliminate the icons displayed to the left of the message text by the VAPanel? I would like to have more room for displaying the text.
Hi, hope someone can help with this, I have a problem with live tv and audio it will start to crackle and shortly after stop altogether, followed by the picture getting jerkier and jerkier till it too freezes, I have tried all manner of decoders and can't see any improvement from one to the other, yet it records beautifully??
I tried Power Cinema and that is without a glitch but it aint' no GBPVR. My PC is very capable I have a 4.4 gig dual processor, 2gig ram and two Nova T's, in previous posts on the forum I read that if the PSU was a bit of a low wattage it could cause it so I replaced my old one for a 500 watt one but didn't see any difference, any help would be greatly appreciated

When playing recordings to my MVP from my machine (running GBPVR), I have no issues. But when I try to playback a recording though the MVP that is on a different box (networked NASLite machine which is setup as a video location on the GBPVR machine), I am unable to fast forward or rewind during playback - when I press those buttons, the recording goes back and starts from the begining again. This only happens on MPEGs that are on the networked storage machine...

In the attached Zip file the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log shows an "Object not set to instance of an object" in LiveTVFileManager. Then that seemed to compound into multiple other errors before I stopped GBPVR.
I don't know if it's useful info, but shortly above that in the log it says "Checking if GB-PVR can remove ...". After I stopped GBPVR I checked that file and it existed, and I was able to remove it manually with no problem.
Do you know what caused this?
