I have them coming out for an install tomorrow but just curious on the clarity of the broadcasts. I have regular right now but was wondering if getting a few less channels was worth it just so I could get hdtv broadcasts for a way cheaper price.

First of all, great software much better than hauppauges one .

However I do have a couple of problems.

I can't seem to record from digital radio. Basically I'd like to record the Chris Moyles show on BBC Radio1 from 7am-10am each day. From what I understand, these are really just a TV stream (it's not FM radio). I can hear it fine within the program but evertime I try to record the program just crashes with this error, recording elsewhere is ok though:


Ignore the cropper error in the background, it's just some quick screenshot program I use ( http://blogs.geekdojo.net/brian/articles/Cropper.aspx )

If I click ignore it just says 'No tuners are available to watch the requested channel. You can choose to watch one of the currently recording programs.

However nothing is being recorded.



My next problem is when I try and select some channels such as BBC3, even when it is broadcasting GBPVR just black screens and I have to press stop/menu on my remote to get back to the main menu (when recordng or not), meaning I can't watch those channels. Also I can't seem to enable all channels:


Even though they are broadcasting I can't enable them, and therefore they won't show in the channel guide. I've tried a combination of checking them then choosing update EPG to no avail. My propper digital box picks these channels up fine, and they are being received from the same aerial (infact I have a box which splits the aerial to the PC and the TV so it should be identical).


Oh, I'm using the Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T 90002 and using the DVB stream to update my EPG guides.

edit: I see it references the Visual Studio 2003 include files. I have both this and Visual Studio 2005 installed, do you think it could it be forced to use the 2005 includes?

Maybe I am somewhat impatient, but I really like to work with GBPVR. This is my problem:
After I completed configuration (with one directly typed in TV-channel) and started for the first time GBPVR LiveTV, I did get the following error message:
"Error: The type initializer for System.Net.Dns threw an exception" (see logfile)

I probably do something wrong, but what? Searching the forum didn't help. So if you have any idea or suggestion, please let me know!

Hi I have been researching all of this stuff for the past week and have read lots of stuff recently and I have had a few questions/clarifications.

The setup I am thinking of getting is a PVR-150MCE on Windows XP and then going to a Media MVP to my tv. Both running GB-PVR.

1. After setting up the MediaMVP I would just go to like a Video 2 input or whatever to see it right?

2. After going to the tv video input that my MediaMVP input is set up on I will see GB-PVRs menu and be able to watch Live TV and such? (So pretty much have too accessable ways to watch TV, one through normal TV input and through my MediaMVP?)

3. Is Live TV shown through my MediaMVP going to be worse quality than watching standard TV? (Because if not than I would never have to use just normal TV again.....or bad idea?)


4. When I decide I want to record something I have read that I will either not be able to watch tv or watch the show that is being currently recorded? (What happens if I accidently change the channel?) Or could I just flip it off Video whatever input and just go to normal tv for the time being to watch other shows?
EDIT: I just read that this is impossible with only one TV tuner (PVR-150MCE) which made me look into the PVR-500MCE but I do not have enough money right now, so could I buy another PVR-150 later on and be able to record one show and watch another just like the PVR-500MCE?

5. The shows that I set my tv to record will be recorded on to my computer that is controlling the MediaMVP, correct?

6. In the GB-PVR wiki, it says that:
What software do I need for DivX playback?

* You absolutely have to have the Hauppauge software installed if you want to watch AVI files.

So am I going to have to uninstall GB-PVR from the MediaMVP and install Hauppauge software just to watch AVI files? (You guys are probably laughing by now but I am just really confused)

7. I have read that there is a 1-2 second delay between switching channels, Is that really annoying and make it take forever to change channels?

8. To be able to pause live tv and rewind and such, to my knowledge, its basically recording the tv in real time, does this take up lots and lots of hard drive space?

Sorry for all these questions, Ive tried searching the forums and sorry if I did not try hard enough. Tried looking through the wiki and could not find that much either, just hoping you guys can give a quick clarification. Thanks a bunch!

I know that transcoding can be done in the post processing batch file and selected as an option in the config utility, but there is no quick and easy "filter" some programs for transcoding but not others. Because transcoding typically takes a lot of time and resources (at least on my box), it seems that automatically transcoding everything is overkill - especially when I'll watch some programs once and delete them immediately.

I think it'd be cool if the option to transcode a particular recording or a reoccurring recording could be found right in the "record" dialog box. I think the biggest benefit would be that when the user selects to record a season, the season could be transcoded for long term storage. Since I suspect many people archive their favorite programs, the option to transcode is particularly nice to reduce the disk space required. Another area that this feature would be nice is for larger recordings like television movies that I might record with then intention of watching when I have some free time, but then sits on the hard drive for weeks until I find the time to watch it.

Moreover, I an option in the recordings menu to que an already recorded file for transcoding (in addition to the "play", "delete", and "exit" options) would be handy as well.

Alternately, if it turns out that coding this into the existing GUI is a PITA, then a separate menu / plugin might be more appropriate.

If someone is aware of a plugin or utility that does this let me know... I've scoured the forums and wiki, but not found an easy way to do this.

I installed gbpvr and was successfully using it with my ATI Xtasy Theater 550 pro card... but now when I try to watch TV it says "Video is playing back using TV out." When I go back to the main menu it says "Error: Object Reference not set to an Instance of an Object." It was working a few minutes ago... anyone got any ideas about what went wrong?

Hi All,

I know people have mutiple cards installed. I have 2 pvr-150's installed on my XP machine. When I record two shows at the same time the second one does not have any sound, just video. I have analog cable connected to both. I will assume the problem is with the second card, since I have never had a problem before.

I am able to get sound from both cards with live TV. I tried one with GBPVR and one with WINTV2000.

What seems to work the best.. I have mine sitting horizontally near the base of my tv sitting on a shelf.. It works okay... But I cant figure out how to get it to work good! Its really picky about where it wants to work.. You have to be pointing up if your below it..and You have to be pointing out if you above it.. It doesnt even work if your level with it, or pointing down on it!!

Its a hauppauge one that came with teh 45 button remote

I have set up to run burn with Nero rather than DVD Decrypter. I get the following error:

NeroAPI Reports: Error:\nCannot connect TRF..

I tried to do a search online and could not find much on it and a solution for it. I like the fact that Nero saves about 10-15 minutes over DVD Decrypter, so if anyone knows about this error and how to fix it, i'd appreciate it.
