I'm having a problem with GBPVRRecordingService. Last night it just stop recording anything. GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log showed this error :

Which just keeps repeating 100's of times. Stopping and restarting the service did not help. After clearing out EPG with GBPVR.exe -OnlyEmptyEPG, reloading, rebooting, reinstalling GBPVR, repeating everything several times, etc., it started working again but I don't know why. But now its just stopped again with the same error and I'm stumped!

I tried posting this in hardware, but I was hoping to get more exposure in this thread.

I have my GBPVR computer hooked up to run through my reciever to take advantage of the 5.1 surround sound. I have the 5 speakers working perfectly, but I don't have any bass running through at all. I have an older Creative Soundblaster PCI card in my computer and it is hooked up through just an analog connection. I don't have any digital connections available to use. Anyone have any ideas why there isn't any bass? I've tried searching the forums for answers, but I can't find any dealing with analog audio connections just missing bass.

I was playing with the EPG software from xmltv. I ran it with tv_grab_na_icons and it downloaded a bunch of icons for me. I then ran tv_grab_na_dd again and the XML file was able to associate the icons to the channels. Went into GBPVR and the guide was showing me icons! COOL!

So then I decide to baseline the box again last night (had also tried some codecs and other PVR software and wanted to make things virgin again). But in repeating my steps to get the icons to appear using xmltv plugin they won't!

Can someone provide any assistance in that?

I've been using GBPVR with a PVR 150 retail (i think... it just has the coax and A/V inputs and the IR plug). I want to add another tuner, and I figure I could just go with the 500 and save myself the worry of getting another tuner after that. Will everything work fine? Can someone with the 150 and a 500 attest to that? How will the remote functionality be affected? Can i use the hauppauge remote from the 150 to control GBPVR as well as to change the channel (on any of the 3 tuners--1 on the 150, 2 on the 500) in Live TV?

BTW, I use the 150 with a digital cable STB, but would use the 500 with straight-from-the-wall analog cable. So could the IR blaster tell the STB to change the channel so GBPVR can record it on one tuner, while I control Live TV using the remote on another tuner? Sorry if the questions are a bit confusing, I'm just a little confused about how the IR would work with multiple tuners.

I use comskip and comclean to edit out commercials in TV shows. Everthing work great. The only problem is after comclean runs and I want to watch it will still use the comskip txt file. How can I rename the txt file or del the file after comclean is finished? I am very confident that Comskip works keeping the entire show and removing 95% of the commercials so I would like to del the "original" file automaticlly. I limited the recording (2-3) to remove shows, but this will not remove the "original" file.

When viewing recordings on my 4:3 Tv, I am getting a squashed effect on any progs that were orignially transmitted in 16:9. It appears that the whole widescreen transmission is squashed up into the 4:3 format ( no black bars top and bottom of screen).

I have the following set-up

Recording on Freecom USB2 DBV-T, Cyberlink multiplexer
Viewing via TV out on Hauppauge PVR 350.


This problem has only started since I started to use the Freecom device for recordings.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can resolve.

Dear all,

After installing the latest version, GBPVR has decided not to download the full TV listings from the DVB EPG. This feature always used to work with the previous version.

Is there anywhere I can download previous versions of GBPVR? I think the version I am after is the one when DVB EPG downloading was supported (around October-November 2005?).

Hello all!
I have tried to figure out if it is possible to start up "Live TV" direct (without going through the menu). Couldn’t find it in the forum...
Is it possible?

I know GBPVR can use one skin while the MVPs can use another but what I want to know is, is it possible for each mvp to have its own independent skin?

The reason I ask is because on one tv one skin works great but on my other tv the same skin does not look as well. Each tv has its own skin that works well for it but I don't know if its possible to use one skin for one tv and another skin for the other tv.
