I intend to build a GB-PVR PC with a 80GB HD (all I can afford ATM).
What partitioning do folks recommend?

1x80GB or
10GB for Windows + 70GB for recordings,
or something else?

I'm using pvr150 and fusion5lite for recording shows in my system. I recently install comskip and set gbpvr to run comskip after recording the shows. However, I notice that comskip processes the regular recordings but doesn't process the HD recordings. Do I need to change something in the ini files or .bat files to make it work with HD recordings?

I finally got my GBPVR setup working correctly again, and this time was able to install "The Collection" without issues. However, I think I might have somehow gotten an old version of the Appearance Manager plugin, as it's got test info in the config - something like "this is a string; this is another string", and on the actual skin, I can't figure out how to actually change any values, and the images is has seem like fummy images (one looks something like an Eye Chart...).

Is the plugin just in really early stages, or did I (once again) screw something up?

I've been tinkering with serving my MVPs with GBPVR. I currently use the recording function of GBPVR ony, and use Hauppage's software to serve the content.

In my tinkering, I realized there was no pictures plugin built shipped with GBPVR. So I started looking and found the "My Pictures" plugin. Well, suffice to say, that didn't work well for me. For some reason this plugin just hammers the heck outta my media server. After testing off-and-on for most of the afternoon yesterday, and finding many with MVPs have similar issues, I chucked that plugin for now.

Is this the only "Pictures" plugin available currently? I think its the only thing holding me up at this point. The wife would definately miss it. Thanks in advance.

I'm aware that in a multiple card setup each sheduled recording will be allocated to a new tuner if available. For the most part i'm quite happy with this but It becomes quite restricive when GBPVR has to use two tuners for consecutive recordings on the same channel. I was just wondering if there was any way to force/persuade GBPVR to use the same tuner for back to back recordings on the same channel.

Would removing the padding have any effect? or how about an option to manually assign a tuner within the recording popup?

It's not really a major problem - and it makes a great excuse for buying that 5th tuner

I've created an ini file that I've using in gbpvr and mytheatre.

In mythreate I find 400+ channels all named correctly.
Yet in gbpvr I find channels but lots are called unknown etc..

Why the difference with the same ini ??

Hi, I have this card (MX440) in my setup (P4 Dual Core, 512meg, Nova-T), and looking at the TV-Out on the back there is a small (s-video sized) socket, but it isn't s-video, and everyone who has seen it has no idea what it is.

Can anyone help, and would this card (and relevent whatever-it-is to scart converter (old tv)) provide sufficient for the output for gbpvr?

I scheduled a recording last night for a Miramax film - gbpvr seemed to record it all - indeed, I only have one capture card, so when I attempted to watch TV while it was recording, it informed me that I had the choice of not watching TV or watching the recording in progress.

At the end of the recording - I attempted playback, which worked fine for the part of the recording before the film started. When it got the the Miramax logo the screen froze - I don't mean gbpvr froze, just the playback - even though it looked like it was playing (I could FF and Rewind, but it would just show the 'frozen' part of the screen.

I have recorded things from BBC CBeebies and it has worked fine (I have only had it up and running this last weekend, so have been experimenting), also the Live-TV Pause works fine too.

I was wondering if this might be caused by a signal being broadcast that dissallows the recording of this film maybe?

If so, is there a way around this limitation?

I'm trying to record shows previously recorded on my Tivo (or from VCR tapes - same issue). I can see the Tivo as an external source channel just fine and I can record by pressing record in live TV. I'm left with two issues:

1) I'd like to use the manual record feature so I can control the length of the recording but, since I can't tell exactly when gbpvr will a) pick up my request to schedule the recording or b) when recording has actually started, I can't tell when to hit "play" on the Tivo (or VCR) to start playback.

2) I can use the record button on live TV and this lets me coordinate when to hit "play" since I can see the output on the cached output. However, a) I can't control the length of the recording - have to watch the output and hit the gbpvr record button again when I want to stop and b) the recording does not show up in the gbpvr on-screen recordings list (maybe because the external source channel does not have a show name?). Instead, the recording shows up in my gbpvr cache directory with a "generated" name so I have to rename and copy the file into the recordings directory.

Am I missing something here? Any ideas? I see a number of threads tangential to my problem but none specifically discussing this particular issue.

I have tried many different dvrs with my 150 and have to keep coming back to 23258 as these are the only ones tried that give good vid and sound. Just wondered whether this selectivity was common and, if not, what might cause it?
