A friend of mine gave me a demo on GB-PVR and I think it is the coolest program I've ever seen! Problem is, I'm having trouble configuring it and getting it to work on my PC, I have about 100 questions, but first thing first...

I have a 7800GTX video card with built in nVidia WDM capture capability. Under *add new capture source* and then *recording source* there is no option for nVidia WDM. Will my current card be able to capture and update the EPG? Or do I need to buy a seperate capture card. If it will work, what are all the settings should I use? Thanks in advance.

I get an exception when the automatic update for the EPG runs.

I've made a 'GBPVRUIElements' dll that is used by the files plugin. This handles the display, scrolling, and user input on the menu buttons, filter and favorites popup lists, and the file lists itself. Posted a preview of it here, not ready for public release tho. I made it because it was taking 10mins to add a button, and over a hour to add another File pane! This also involved copy and pasting code which was a nightmare. Using the fileList class in GBPVRUIElements.dll I can just declare 2 objects, fileListA and fileListB.

The dll currently provides support for buttons and button lists, object lists, labels, and file lists. Will think about developing it further and releasing it for public use if there is interest?

first off id like to say hats off to this awesome software

ive been having one problem with it though well 2

ive had a corrupt timestamp in one recording (of about 10 so far) and if anyone knows a fix for that let me know i could find people talking about it but no answers

but heres the real one ..if i am say recording a show and attempt to go back into the EPG while its recording 9 times out of ten i get a crash

not just any crash this is one where it sends insane radio noise through my speakers at full volume(i leave them at full volume all the time and adjust with my remote in windows)

this happened the other night at about 4 am and woke everyone in the house up and came severly close to giving me a massive heart attack...it was that loud and the noise is terrible

after poking around i found out it only happens while its recording a show and i attempt to enter the EPG

any advice on this would be awesome and also a benifit to my cardiovascular health

I have tried several other (among them many commercial) PVR applications and none of them are as good as GB-PVR!

Keep up the excellent work (or just leave the software as it is, it works like a charm)!

I'm using the latest version of GB-PVR and the latest version of the My Pictures plugin from the wiki on an Asus Pundit-R. I'm also using the "Collection" with the Appearance Manager.

In the GB-PVR main menu, the task images are animated, but this is just a tick slow on my system -- so I switched it off in the config.xml.

Now to my question.
The menu buttons in the My Pictures plugin fly in from the left and the folder contents fly in from the top when I enter My Pictures.

Is there any way to switch this off?

It would be a nice effect -- but on my system its not smooth and as I'm trying to increase the WAF by standardising all the menus (backgrounds, buttons, no animations) it would be great if it could be switched off.

I'm trying to play a Net Radio station I added. It's a pls file that works fine from shoutcast where it's opened in Winamp.
But in GBPVR it says Failed to connect to Radio Station. And then it usually hangs GBPVR as well.

The log says:

Any ideas on what is causing this? Im guessing it's unable to play the generated mp3 file due to a player problem, but from there on I don't know what to do.

I'm running GBPVR 95.16. I am behind a NAT firewall but as mentioned Winamp plays it fine.

After installing GB-PVR I manually created my storage directories like this C:\media\pictures, C:\media\music, C:\media\videos and C:\media\tv. Then when I went into configure I was asked to create virtual directories, why virtual directories? And what if I just enter the same path as one of the above? The reason I'm asking is because I can't see my picutres or music, I haven't created and videos or recorded TV yet so can't check them. Can someone explain to me how GB-PVR file structure should be setup and how the virtuals are properly created? How can I transfer all my existing music and pictures into a virtual folder?
Another question about the file structure that I have is related to the plugins that I have attempted to install. A lot of them say to place into the gbpvr directory and I recall one or two stating to place into the root directory, to me these are both the same and would be C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr, am I reading that correct? Then when I place mydatabase in the root directory will it find the directories that I stated that I created above or do they all belong in the same directory? I am pretty sure that My Pictures and My Music are not finding the files due to how I have set this all up. As you can see I am directory confused and I don't like to place stuff in my Program Files if I don't have to. I would much appreciate class 101 on how this could be created to work for me. Sorry this got so long.
