Several times in the last week, a recording has been truncated, or the audio has recorded while the video has not. (The file starts out with audio and video together and after 10-15 mins the video freezes but the audio continues).
Newbie here desperate for some help re: my remote. I did read through each post on the site related to remotes and problems with Hauppage remotes and their IR blaster but still am at a loss.
First, here is my set-up. I'm using a hauppage PVR 500 MCE (it came with a remote and an IR blaster) under XP SP2. Everything works fine except the remote.
Read the post related to "hcwIRblast.dll won't load in Live TV" and took sub's advice to use the no IR blaster setting in the Capture set-up.
The Hauppage remote (I suspect it is the 34 button one, since its silver and I looked at the picture of the 45 button remote on the Hauppage site, and it definitely doesn't look like that one) works to control the main GBPVR gui (eg: I can scroll through the menu items and I can select and enter the various options (like LiveTV or TVGuide etc) but once inside (particularly Live TV) I have no remote control capability (except for being able to exit) ON the Channel guide screen, I can scroll the channels etc, but the actual channel displayed under LiveTV does not change (obviously the IR blaster is not sending a signal to the set top satellite receiver (Starchoice).
When I set up the Hauppage 500MCE card, the CD only seemed to have the drivers on it (there was no Hauppage card control software, nor any IR Blaster software on it).
I'm looking for direction as to getting the remote working under LiveTV and with the ability to change the channel on the external via the supplied IR Blaster transmitter and receiver. Someone willing to hold my hand through this? Please?:confused:
I was reading the box to my Theater 550 pro and it says it has real-time hardware mpeg2 encoding.Wouldnt that mean i wouldnt need a software decoder because its already encoded to what it would be decoded to?
If so , what should i do about that?
Also Its suppose to have hardware 3d comb filter and hardware noise reduction along with integrated anti-aliasing filter.
Is there a way to turn on/off these to see if there working or not?
Are they working? or would i need to setup something special.
Looking at the samples pictures on the box without 3dcomb and noise reduction is about what my picture quality is. So maybe thats why i have had lousey quality?
What im saying is , is gb-pvr utilitizing the full ability of this cardtype? or is there some problems stopping it?
I don't know much about graphics cards with TV-out. I assume they all use S-Video??? What is the max. recommended cable length (assuming I use quality cable etc.)?

I can't seem to get to http://www.gbpvr.com/ -- are there any known issues? Firefox just chugs away endlessly trying to reach it from here in Atlanta, GA USA .. ditto when i try and use lynx from a computer in Chicago, IL USA (so it's not just my computer).. I had this same issue on Jan 5, 2006 as well, but just dismissed it then as a temporary outage..

I just don't get it, I've looked at the troubleshoot guide. I dont have a version lower then 92 and I tried so many different decoders yet none of them work. I tried overlay and the other decoder options, no luck! Any suggestions? Help is appreciated.

Currently I have a one PVR150MCE connected to my Dish Networks stb using S-video.
Because of recording conflicts, I want to add another PVR150 to receive OTA signals. I have an antenna in my attic that pics up local stations pretty clear for the most part, except for channel 7.
Because my Dish uses the same channel numbers as OTA, is there a way to map the OTA channel to a different number and still have the guide work and all that? If not, how will that work if I want to record something on channel 7 and both Dish and OTA have channel 7 available?
I'd rather have anything that's supposed to record, try to record from the Dish tuner first because I know the picture will always be clear. Give the Dish tuner priority #1 for live TV and recordings. If it's already recording, use the OTA tuner for additional recordings or live TV.
First lay me say that I am very happy with GBPVR. It is extremely reliable and the recording service can run for weeks without reboot.
The problem I describe below is therefore not very high on my problem list (compared to having a faster computer, or more free time ) but its somewhat annoying and it requires attention I easily forget resulting in a lower WAF after reboot.
Like some other users I expercience the "no sound after reboot" problem.
As soon as either wintv2k or tuningsassistant is run the sounds appears and stays until the next reboot.
One user has posted how to run winTV2k from the commandline to restore the sound. I do not have wintv2k on the GBPVR machine and I hate to install garbage on this important server.
I have tried to run tuningassistant from autoit to only set the parameters for country, card and cable, start scanning and immidiately stop scanning because the sound appears as soon as scanning start (no need to find a channel)
However, autoit is not very reliable during booting so a unattanded reboot of the GBPVR server can still result in nosound.
Is it possible to either make the initial settings of tuningassistent configurable so I do not have to rely on autoit to drill down the combobox. Or have a look at what settings autoassistant does that is not done by both the gbpvrrecordinservice and gbpvr itself when used for liveTV such that you may be able to find a solution for this bug?
If I am asking too much, tell me and I will shut up forever on this small subject
I am currently running a setup using a PVR350, which occassionaly causes my PC to crash on startup due to the TV-OUT problems it has (discussed in length on other threads) , This causes recordings to fail and unfortunately for me it always seems to happen when it is one of my wifes programs, as you can understand this is causing me major grief
I am seriously considering buying a budget graphics cards with TV-OUT so i can bypass the 350. The card I am looking at is the XFX GeForce FX5200, this apparently has a MPEG2 hardware decoder built-in, if I set GBPVR to use software decoding so that it will use the TV-OUT will the decoder be automatically used at a lower-level by the card?, or do I have to configure it differently within GB-PVR?
It is a dedicated PVR machine so I am not interested in the gaming capabilities of the card.
Any help would be appreciated.

I've been recording the "Avatar the airbender" and much like any other show the order in which it was aired was a bit random.
So here's my wish:
I'd like there to be an option in the sort order to sort by the episode number key (as stored in the database) so that I at least get to see some of the continuity in the episodes. If I am not mistaken the episode number is unique and in general seems to follow a counter like mechanism with the order of the episode.
And maybe something to tell me there *are* missing recordings where the episode numbers are skipped - which I can live without if it isn't easily implementable.
