I haven't done enough experimenting to know exactly when this happens, but occasionally when I turn on my MVP, it cannot find the GUI server, even though gbpvr and the recording service are running on my PC.

I want to say logging off might cause this to happen, although I can't understand why, as gbpvr is running as a service.

Has anybody else experienced this? I'm running the latest gbpvr under WinXP.

Just curious where the file naming format is set/changed for recorded shows (Zap2it).

If you're using an MVP then a file is automatically created to be streamed to the MVP in order to produce the video.

It would be nice to have a configurable feature which gave the user the choice to either start recording from this point forward or alternatively, if you press the record button, to keep all that has been watched in the temp file but just add to it (which would happen anyway) and then just move the file after the recording to the videos folder.

As I have a home network behind router and firewall I was wondering if it is possible to have the WEBadmin only ask you for a password if the request comes from outside my network (via default gateway). This would mean I wouldn't have to sign on, when accessing the system form my laptop or PDA at home.

PS I couldn't find a thread for WebAdmin requests...

Now I feel like a newbie all over again and I guess I should at least post more so that next to my name it says member instead of “newbie” but I am having issues again. I upgraded my hard drive and now I can’t get the PVR to work. I can watch live tv and off the guide but if I start to record a show and then try to watch I just get a black screen which will revert back to the main menu. The recordings are all 12 seconds long and just black. I had this issue before and I can’t find my old post “2 years ago” on what fixed it.

My setup:

XP on a Athlon XP 1800

512 ram

Hauppauge 350

Hauppauge 150

Cheesy nvidia GeForuce4 Mx 4000 video card

Now before you tell me I shouldn’t have got the 350 I know this. I know that sub tells people not to even get it but at the time I didn’t see that and it has worked in the past. I picked up the 150 later because, well you just have to be able to record and watch at the same time. I have the 350 set to device 1 and the 150 set to device #2 and have tried multiple combinations of using just one’s and one’s and two’s. I know Sub has said that if the cards are the same they should be separate numbers. The rest of the setup is pretty much basic.

Here is what I am planning on doing when I get home this evening. I will disable the 150 completely in the system and then blow away all the software and drivers for the Hauppauge and then reinstall just the 350 and the Hauppauge apps along with it. I did notice some updates on the site and then see if I can get it working at that stage. Once I have that I can back up the system and try to work in the 150. Unfortunately this damn thing called a job is getting in the way of me getting my PVR working in a timely manner.

So if you have any other thoughts and or ideas please let me know.

On a side note I am thinking of getting rid of the 350 and maybe picking up a 500. Does anyone recommend a better card out there if I am going to upgrade?


On a very side side note…. Sub thanks again for wonderful support and a great product that makes my life great and makes my friends think I am crazy.

I have recently upgraded to the new version. Now I am having problems recording. Sometimes it records fine (approx 700MB) per half hour, other times it records 250MB per half hour (sometimes 95MB).
When viewing these DVR-MS files, the sound is perfect (except in 95MB files) but the picture is very "stuttery". I have a NOVA-T PCI card.

Before the upgrade it seemed to work a treat. I have reconfigured everything but it still stutters. Could this be a signal problem or app problem. Are the old version still avaliable to download so that I can see it is a problem with build?

2 days ago, I decided to use more features of GBPVR, as I was using only the default ones (but everything worked great! :-)
I enabled the webserver, compskip, and finally update GBPVR, and since I'm having some issue with Live TV.

When I select Live TV, it's like the software is having trouble to open it, and the screen stays black (it's not crashed, and "show status" says "Live TV (RTE1)", so the software thinks he is in Live TV but it is not).
By insisting, hitting escape and enter again, I can get it to work, but the picture/sound is jumping.

Looking at the logs, the only thing I found that didn't look right was the following :

I am using a Fritz Box and this Box can via a Plugin send

send a message for example to a DBox 2 or a XBox running XBox Media Center and the Message get's displayed.

I did see the Yac Plugin but the wget http method doesn't need any extra Software running.

It could also be used for other applications
