I recently finished building my masterpiece PVR for my girlfriend. After TONS of money, tweaking, and testing it was finally at a state at which I was happy. It contains 2 Hauppauge cards: PVR-500 and a PVR-150, so it can record up to 3 shows at once.
Now it is time for me to install the PVR in her apartment and I am running into snags. She has Comcast Digital Cable, so there is a set-top-box. Am I going to be able to take advantage of my 3 simultaneous inputs if I run out of the STB, into a splitter, and into my two cards?
Or did I waste my money on getting too much hardware that will only work with analog cable. Finally, if I did go overboard on the hardware...are there any recommendations on what I could do to resolve the issue? I really would like to be able to record more than one show at a time (or else I am never going to be able to get to watch what I want to...lol)
Im trying the purevideo decoder again and it plays mpeg files fine in wmp but gbpvr it doesnt display the video full screen on livetv and recorded files. there are large spaces of garbage on the right and bottom of the screen. I would say only about 50% of the screen is being used by video? Not sure how to take a screenshot or I would post a pic.
Is there a way to send a select/enter command to the DirecTV receiver after changing a channel with IR blaster? It changes the channel in GBPVR and sends the channnel number to the receiver but needs a select command to actually change the channel. Thanks.:confused:
Can anyone post a how to with config files for converting mpeg4/divx/xvid/avi files to mpeg2?
I have a lot of these files and would like to convert them to play on the mvp more reliably. Plus, almost anything you download is in this format.
I have DOKI, but I have to admit I don't understand it. There are very few items it will allow you to configure, it seems, and it always seems to want to create a dvd and burn it.
I just want to be able to convert these files to mpeg2 for viewing on mvp. A batch option would also be nice.
I have recently gotten an mvp and have all aspects of gbpvr working great except for playing avi/divx files on the mvp. Those same files play fine using the hauppauge server.
It got me to thinking. I have been using Firefox as my primary browser for over a year now. Every now and then I run into a web page that just won't display in Firefox correctly. I have a plugin that allows me to simply right click on the page and select 'view in ie'. It then loads ie with that page.
I know avi playing for mvp is not a development priority for gbpvr, which is fine. What about a plugin that when selected from the mvp would shutdown the gbpvr service and start the mvp services. Then you could view your avi/divx file and on the next reboot (or when you went to the pc and changed it, could even write a batch file with a desktop icon to kill the mvp services and restart gbpvr, do it with task scheduler, etc) all would return to normal.
Anyone else think this might be a nice temporary solution?
does anyone know where I could get the Hauppauge SDK for the Win TV PVR 350? I'd like to play around with it. Specifically, I'd like to see if I can find out why it's hanging on Live TV (apparently this is not just with GBPVR, it's with other applications aswell). It's probably firmware / hardware, but if I can I'd like to investigate it and give my results to Hauppauge. If I can get something reproducable maybe they could fix it then.
I'd also be interested in playing around with it just for a bit of fun i.e. changing channels, and using the TV out. Although TV programming would be new to me, hardware programming would not be as I've been programming Dialogic telephony boards for a few years now. So I'd like to give it a shot.
I had a WinTV card years ago and the SDK came with it on 2 floppy disks, but I can't see anything on the CD that I could use (include files etc).
I have my gbpvr machine sitting under my tv with a 54g wifi connection to my network. I have a lot of divx on my "main" pc.
On the pvr i have mapped a drive to a share on the main pc, with reconnect at startup ticked and this drive is added in gbpvr settings as a drive with video.
The problem is that whe i go into the video section and choose the folder there is nothing in it. If i get the keyboard out , go the windows explorer and double click on the mapped drive it opens up with the files in. If i go back to gbpvr it shows everything.
So it seems that when either machine is rebooted i need to force windows to reexamine the shared drives somehow.
Has anyone else managed to get this setup to work? I dont want to keep getting the keyboard out.
When going through the wiki and the forum, it seams that I missed something.
In the config app, there are two options regarding transcoding and the MVP: use ffmpeg & use ffdshow.
- why would you use ffmpeg?
- why would you use ffdshow?
- does it make sense to use both ffmpeg & ffdshow?
- if you uncheck both options, which module does the transcoding then? gppvrconvert.exe?

Question: Does anyone know if this software as support for the Sabrent SBT-TVFM card? If not, does anyone know of any other apps like this that support this card?
and i want to be able to differ between the same channels on the same guide. eg tv1-sky tv1-sat
sounds confusing.
i don't think this is a feature yet or is it?
