Obviously I need plenty of processing power to play emulators (ps,n64), but, whats the performance of playing an emulated Playstation game while recording two programs at the same time?
Has anyone had experience doing this, and, if so, what would be the recommended proc/ram to get?
I have just gotten my setup working well with an mvp and a pvr-150 board in the computer. I am wanting to add a second tuner anyway and had a couple of questions.
1) I assume the pvr-350's onboard decoder hardware only works with the onboard video out port. Correct?
2) Is there any card that would take load off of the cpu when decoding divx and avi files to the media mvp? If so, what might that be?
Hello, I tried running tipstir's tweaks (dns.reg, lanman.reg, tcp.reg and mem.reg) and now my MVP won't start GBPVR as fast as it used to - it sits on the "Contacting Servers" screen for several minutes before reaching the GBPVR interface. Before installing the tweaks, it took only a few seconds.
Can anyone suggest which tweak might be the problem, and how I might fix it? The tweaks seem to have made playback and navigation a bit more responsive, but a fast startup would be good!

I've just bought myself a H150. I'm running windows xp sp2. I've installed GBPVR and have had a little play with it so far, thing is i can't seem to find the option to record on the fly (i.e. i start watching a program and then I decide I want to record it)
I've got my sky box going into the composite on the back of the card ....
I realise i have to change the sky channells manual to (or set a reminder)et up scheduled recodings, but it's just on the fly recordings i can't seem to work out....
As you can see I'm new here but I have searched the forums and read documentation. I'm looking to turn a laptop into a PVR and have a couple questions. I'll be using gbpvr for basic cable TV, dvds, and media files from the laptop to a projector (100" screen).
-Recommended decently priced PCMCIA or USB tuner that will work with GB-PVR ? Preferably something I can easily pick up on EBay
-If you are using gbpvr and a keyboard and mouse, what would the remove that comes with the tuner be used for ?
-Should I take XP pro off the laptop and install MCE ? is there any benefit ?
Hi everyone. I'm a new user to GBPVR and am having problems watching live tv. Each time i click it, it just shows me the channel i'm on but no video or audio. I have the VideOh USB edition (which i checked seems to be supported by the program...i think). I am also using Zap2It for my EPG. Under Config for the Capture sources i have direct recording plugin selected with the Adaptec VideOh capture card selected. I have Canada selected and internal tuner selected with Cable as the tuning. Is there something that i'm missing in order to watch Live TV.
This may not be a GBPVR problem. It might be a hardware issue. I can't even get Channel 2 (CBS here in Los Angeles) to work with the Cyberlink Theater software that came with my card.
When I used the Cyberlink software, after the autoscan, channel 2 will be listed, but if I switch to it, Channel 4 (NBC in L.A.) will be shown. If I switch to channel 4, everything is fine. Channel 2 worked for about a week back in August when I bought my computer.
When I use GB PVR, channel 4 is NBC, as it should be. Channel 2 is CBS as it should be, but if I watch channel 2 for more than two seconds, I get a blue screen and my computer restarts.
Hello, I have recently set up GBPVR with an MVP, but the MVP remote control seems to have a very short range, around 20cm or less. I have tried to operate the MVP with 2 different Hauppauge remotes (another came with a Nova-t), and 3 different sets of batteries (2 sets came with the remotes, plus a set of NiMH AAAs I already have). I have tried to position the unit differently, and have tried blocking any sources of stray IR I can think of. I have checked the unit for any kind of film over the sensor - it is quite a diffuse bit of plastic, but I don't think there's anything I am supposed to peel off or anything. Finally, I have tried looking at the remote through a digital camera, the LED is clearly working and seems fairly bright, if not quite as bright as some of my other remotes.
Could this be anything to do with GBPVR? I wouldn't think so, but I would like to have some additional (and more qualified!) opinions before I get on to Hauppauge support.
