Does anyone know whether the PVR-350 will ever support AC3 audio output? Is the reason it does not a software or hardware issue? If it is a software issue, then maybe I might wait for them to upgrade it, otherwise I'm looking at buying an XCard.
The reason I need AC3 output is that I just bought a new JVC camcorder which records onto a microdrive in DVD/AC3 format. I love the Video Library of GPBVR but can't hear my home videos. Very disappointing.
First.. treat me like a complete idiot.. No programming skill etc. I have however successfully installed gbpvr and love it. I was on a trial of beyondtv and like gbpvr much better...most importantly, it worked immeditately after installation.
So, feeling confident in my abilities, I installed the My Pictures plugin. Got it to show up in the Menu settings and all seemed to be well. So I directed the plugin to go to the "my pictures" directory of my shared folders file and started gbpvr.
Here's the problem... although I can see all of the subdirectories in the window after going to "my pictures" in gbpvr, I cannot navigate the menu settings along the left column, such as "slideshow" "main menu" etc. They all show up, but my curser won't allow me to make a selection or highlight any of them. I can scroll through the various directories being shown with my mouse in the main window, but can't select any. This isn't a problem when I use another function in gbpvr such as "live tv" etc... meaning, that I can navigate and select various menu options in those applications.
Any thoughts, suggestions. Sure it is something very easy when I installed the plugin, but again, I am a complete idiot and happy as a pig in mud that I got it to work this far.
I have a Hauppage card. The resolution with this card is supposed to be 704 X 480. Just wondering why all my recordings come out at 640x480??
Is there a way to set the recording resolution?
I have a PVR-350 and want to use my brother's IR Blaster from his 150. Does anyone know whether this will work? I noticed that the IR Receiver that comes with the 350 uses a stereo plug so I'm hoping that maybe the 150 Receiver/Transmitter will work.
latest gbpvr installation, works great 80% of the time however sometimes when I select "watch" in live tv It just sits there complete crash. I have to reboot to regain control. I cant see why it shouldnt be decoder related due to it does play most of the time, with great qualty also.
I did do the quartz.dll swap, cant remember if it did this before or not
I am a new user of GBPVR & I have to say I am really impressed this is the HTPC software I have found that will do what I want. Well done to all those involved.
Having spent the last couple of days configuring things I have a couple of problems I can't seem to figure out.
My setup is as follows :-
Athlon XP 3000+
1 GB Mem
Geforce 6200
300 GB HDD
Windows XP SP2 all updated
Latest Drivers for all hardware
ATI Theartrix 550
Nebula DVB-T with BDA drivers
When watching live tv on the Nebula I get constant stuttering it is very random & can last 30 sec or a bit longer. I have tried different combinations of video & audio decoders & BDA multiplexer. The results do vary according to what I use, but have found that using Intervideo decoders with Cyberlink BDA multiplexer is as good as it gets.
Playing back a recording made by the Nebula is fine - I only get stuttering on Live TV with or without Live Preview Mode.
My other issue is with my Media MVP. It actually works really well apart from when I watch live TV or a recording that is on the ATI 550 card the bottom 15% of the picture is missing it is just black. If I use the Nebula card it is still stuttering but the picture is complete. When viewing menus everything is fine.
I spent several very frustrating hours trying to get captioning to work...so now that I finally did, I decided to put together a quick how-to. Hopefully it'll save someone some frustration. Note: this is for Windows XP, and I'm using the Hauppage PVR-250 in the United States.
1) First get GB-PVR working without the captions
2) Open the configuration software. In the âPlaybackâ tab, set the video and audio decoder dropdowns to Intervideo. Be sure VMR9 is checked. In the âDVD&Remoteâ tab, again, set the audio decoder dropdown to Intervideo. In the âMiscâ tab, check the closed-caption box.
3) Go to Start â run and type regedit. Find the following directories and be sure that each of the keys is set as follows. (If the key does not exist, create it)
1.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\hauppauge\hcwTVWnd\SagHarbor\Configs
The 4th byte (2 digit hexadecimal number) of the key for the setting you're trying to use â probably livetv in this case â should be 0e. Probably already is, but check.
2. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Hauppauge\hcwTVWnd]
Change the CC_Connect key from 0 to 1
3. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Globespan\Parameters\ivac15\Driver]
Set the InsertCCInDvd key to 1
Restart your computer to be sure all changes have taken effect.
To caption live TV: find the show you want to watch, hit quick record, then go to Recordings â Pending and you can watch it a few seconds behind.
BTW - many people have asked for a select another set of random tracks at the finish another set. Unless I figure out another way to do this, it may not possible since play control is passed off to GBPVR, and there is no event or anything fired when the playlist has finished. But one way of getting around it it to hit the random button (from the library screen) more than once, and on the second time the tracks will be added to the first list.

I just had to totally rebuild by GBPVR setup (the SlimmGBPVR uninstall script wiped my entire gbpvr folder clean).
After reinstalling, I can't play FM radio stations over the MVP but can play them fine via GBPVR on the PC. This used to work. (at least on 94.13, though I can't swear that I'd tried it since going to 95.16)
Attached is a ZIP file containing the log files. For the log files I did the following:
1. went to the FM radio screen
2. highlighted a station
3. hit OK on the MVP remote. Nothing.
4. hit Play on the remote. Nothing.
5. moved the cursor left to the Play entry in the FM Radio menu.
6. hit OK on the remote. Nothing.
7. hit Play on the remote. Nothing
