Hi everyone! I am new to the PVR PC concept and just ended up getting my feet wet. I have a Celeron D330 2.6G processor, a gig o ram, and a ATI Radeon 9250 vid card that i've been using the SVideo output to a television for a while now. My girlfriend recently bought me a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR150(merry x-mas to me!). I've been getting used to the setting up of GBPVR and i love it. it blows the regular software clean out of the water. Anyway, i was wondering what kind of settings in the config you could recommend. I have it set up now, but it seems that sometimes the video is a little choppy(only sometimes) and that the pictuire seems "softer" than it should. The picture quality seems better on the WinTV software. I dont know anything about this. Maybe i need to be using a different decompression codec or something, but when i started playing around with that stuff, i just ended up with video/sync issues. Also, off the topic, directed to sub(as i may erronously believe is the brains around here), is there a way to keep GBPVR open resident and be able to open it up with a push of a button on the Hauppauge 45 button remote? The original software had the option to just push the TV button and it would load the software. It seemed very nice. Anyway, just a thought/question/possibility for future development. Maybe i'm just stupid. I pressed the "fix for haup remote" button or whatever. Oh yeah. 1 last thing. Some channels have no audio Any suggestions?

I am putting together a pvr ona budget. So far i have a 1ghz Pentium 3 and a NOVA-T USB2 to capture. I have used this capture device on my main pc with no problems.

I want to get a video card for the pvr to output directly to the tv. I am looking at the Radeon 9250 128mb which is a pci card (thats all that the machine has i'm afraid - no agp)

Would this do the job?
What are the pitfalls when outputting to tv?

I had the MVP working well once but recently it won't play video. I only get a black screen
I've tried many things but can't make sense of it.
I've attached the log file to see if any one has any ideas

Apart from getting into the database directly. Is there any way of determining the playback position of a video via API- although all I'm really after is have I watched the video.

Hi there, I'm completely new to PVR's and am just in the process of putting one together. I've got a PVR 150 and although it works the picture quality is quite bad when i switch to full screen on my TFT monitor. Is there any way to clear up the image and does anyone else have this problem? Should I take the PVR150 back and get a different card?

The second problem i'm having is when playing a signal back to the TV the picture sucks, I'm using a FX5200 card, I'm setting the res to 720*576(or something like that) but the picture quality is very bad. Should I go for a MediaMVP or something similar?

• I know that some can be used on the main menu, does the code for main menu need to know anything about the panel or can a brand new panel just be added to it?

Has anyone been successful in accessing GBPVR remotely using the windows XP remote feature. Kind of a Sony location free tv. I can access the screen but I get a message that VMR9 is not supported on my laptop. Tried VMR7 and overlay but it is slooow scan.. Any ideas - if this worked you could watch your TV or movies anywhere in the world!

I just built my first PVR and did not realize I was going to be able to show my home videos with it. However, my camcorder is a JVC model which records directly to DVD/AC3 and the PVR-350 does not support this format. So I'm looking at having to purchase another output card that does. I am looking at only the XCard since this is supported by GBPVR.

Are there any issues with using GBPVR with both a PVR-350 and a Sigma Designs XCard?

Are there any issues with the XCard?

Is the XCard the best alternative for the 350 output with GBPVR?

I have a Hauppage WinTV PVR 500 card. The quality of the video is not very good. It seems very picky about the signal from the TV cable. When i plug the TV cable into my TV, the picture looks good, but when it goes through the Hauppage card, it looks a bit snowy. Anyone know what's up??

I have a question about skipping/FF/RW. I have the "Use short skip instead of FF/RW" option unchecked as I prefer the FF/RW function but when I start a video playlist of MPEGs or choose "Play All" for a folder of MPEGs, I want to be able to skip to the next MPEG in the list.

I can't find a button on the remote that does this. Is it possible to have FF/RW enabled yet also be able to skip videos in a playlist?
