Sub,
I dunno why but whenever I watch TV (either live or time-shifted), after what seems to be a random amount of time, the program freezes and I have to kill it using Task Manager. If I'm in time-shift mode, the sound will keep playing but not the video. I'll link some logs (since they're apparently too big to attach, here); let me know if you require anything else. I can't imagine what's causing this but it's been like this for several releases, now.
I checked my box this morning, after setting it to windows media transcoding "windows media video 8 for broadband 1400 kbps". It had an "assertian error" on the screen and said "abort, retry, ignore" I clicked retry and then I got a "gbpvrconvert.exe error" with the windows "send error report" box. I really suck at this, but I put a lot of videos on my laptop and I really need to start shrinking them.....I'm using nero recode now....but I want something automatic.
Over the last year or so each release of GBPVR has removed various problems (great work Sub) - and now I have only one remaining that effects me.....
When playing back files recorded by GBPVR I find that any navigation method used has a chance of disrupting the sync by approx 1 second. using combinations of FF, RW, skip and skip back can get me back in sync. I estimate success after each 'navigation' to be around 30-50%.
Looking in this forum it does not seem to be a common fault so I assume it is specific to my setup. Does anyone have ideas to resolve this issue.
I am using
Nova-T (PCI 90002) (UK DVB-T)
ShowShifter 3.12.0.2945 mux
MediaMVP rev D3A
GBPVR v0.93.10
dongle.bin that came with the above GBPVR release
This guy has developed a "LiveCD" for XP. He supports a "Plugin" architecture so there might be a way to have a gbpvr "plugin" that would allow a gbpvr client to run from a bootable CD.
Might be an interesting way to turn a laptop into a TV.
I probably won't have time to look at it until after the Holiday, but I thought I would post it in case someone is interested.
Since I haven't been able to find a Wireless Wake on LAN feature, what i'd like is the ability to only hibernate at night. Anyone know of a program or a setting that will allow me to keep the computer on during the day and the hibernate feature only kicks in at a certain time in the evenings?
ive tried all the things i can to make my video work but i cant get it to work so im asking higher beings... i did all the steps as instructed by the installation and the FAQ but with no success. i do manage to get my pictures to work (dont know if it has anything to do with it). anyway i hope i can get what seems a awesome plugin to work
i might have missed something but... is there a way to watch live tv on another computer running gbpvr? setup is computer 1 has pvr-250 running gbpvr, lan connection to wireless ap. laptop with 802.11g wireless running gbpvr no capture card, can laptop stream livetv from computer 1.
I just built a dedicated gbpvr server out of some bits I had lying around, spec as follows:
Athlon 3200 XP - Asus nForce board with NIC disabled.
750 MB Ram
40GB disk for OS
80GB disk for recordings
3com 10/100 PCI NIC - thought this might be superior to the onboard NIC.
2 x PCI Nova-T - bought these for the job
Windows XP Professional SP2
Tipsir's Networking reg hacks applied.
The problems I'm having are with the MVP. Sometimes it just crashes. Sometimes it plays back livetv fine, other times the picture breaks up constantly. Sometimes it responds to the remote control, other times it doesnt.
Is there a firmware upgrade availible for MVP? Mine is model 86002 rev d3.
I've trawled around this board for a while now and have applied most of the MVP optimisations I can find but these probelms still persist.
Before I lose what hair I have left, can anyone shed some light on what might be causing my MVP malaise. I was hoping to replace my sky+ with GBPVR & MVP but livetv just wont do anything consistant for me.
Other questions I have are:
Is there a guide that will show you exactly what remote button does what during playback of both recordings and live tv?
The MVP displays a 16:9 picture on my 4:3 tv. Is there anyway to have it adjust the picture for a 4:3 telly - i'm missing the edges of the picture.
Do others out there use mvp livetv for their daily viewing? If not, what do you use? A regular set top box? I was hoping to avoid this as my wife complains about the number of remotes we have already.
Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
