  identical recording indentification?
Posted by: nv40 - 2005-12-07, 09:07 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

How does gbpvr detect identical recordings. I'm assuming the option in config.exe to "not allow duplicate recordings" means that I can set it to season-record for a show and it will only record one instance of each episode, correct? If so, how does it tell that.......I usually remove the recorded shows and place them on another computer once a week, will this mess with that setting? Also, if it detects a duplicate...does it just not add it to pending recordings, or does it show it there but simply not record it?

Will the wife/girlfriend admit "she loves it"?
Posted by: wannabepvr - 2005-12-07, 08:37 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (19)

Story 1:
We had a Christmas party at our house on the weekend. A guy came up to me and said “I hear you have built yourself a PVR – what’s it like?”

I just said some cool and non-committal things like: Cool

“It will change you live forever….”
“It a big step on the road to enlightenment…”
“Only after a PVR could you die a happy man..”

That sort of stuff. Any way he asked; “Can you show me?” “Sure”

So I had just opened the EPG and he said “Stop right there … I HAVE to show my wife this.”

Now she come in and we navigate thought the menus, EPG, schedule a recoding from the EPG, recordings database, play some live TV, time-shift, weather, etc.

The guy is just so excited he says to his wife “what do you think?” She looked at him calmly and said “ Well the recording bit looks easy, but I still don’t get it.”

My wife walks in and adds “Yeah, it’s OK”

Story 2:
We have only had GBPVR in the living room now for about 3 months. Prior to that it was something I tinkered with in the study.

Now I want to do some software updates, a new tuner, bigger HDD etc, etc. You all know how it goes.

I said to my wife last night. “What you say if I wanted to take the PVR away to work on it for a day?”

She looked at me horrified and said “It depends on which day!”

Could it be a common theme ? – Guys work so hard to convince their wive/girlfriend how good this will be, and when it is, they just don’t want to admit – we told them so. Wink

  Default blue skin sticks on
Posted by: Pinan - 2005-12-07, 08:02 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (7)

Howdy all.

1. When I turn off GB-PVR, the last desktop view showing at the time, freezes on the screen (TV). Because of this I can't run anything else on the screen, as it ends up behind the blue screen/skin.

2. No biggie here but, the blue screen (after adjusting) extends off of the screen on the left, partially hiding the buttons. If I adjust it any more, it shifts to the right several inches leaving a black bar on the left.

Any fix for these? Thanks. Smile

  Another Skin Problem
Posted by: Cape-City - 2005-12-07, 07:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi,

at my htpc i modified the date syntax in order to get the day of the week
shown completly in the recording panel at the button of the main menu
and the recording section.

What i don't like is, that in both variantes of the scheduling boxes the day of the
week is now shown twice and i don't know how to configure this out (can't
find the xml file where it's defined). This is one way to solve the prob, the
other is to define the day of the week seperatly in the recording panel of the
main menu and in the recording section, also don't know how to do this ...

I attached some snapshots, just to show what i mean ...

Ok, are the new icons supposed to show up on the MVP? I see them on my pc, but on the MVP it still shows the old icons. Also the buttons are missing on the dialog which ask you if you want to "Restart" a recording or "Resume" where you left off.

  PVR350 not really sharp
Posted by: HermanJ - 2005-12-07, 06:04 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi,

I've got a Hauppauge PVR350. All works fine, but the recordings on the TV-out (using SCART) are not as sharp (well, the look "rounded" and vage) as the live broadcast (not using the PVR).
When I look at the recording on the PC screen, it looks sharp. So there is something with the TV-out of the PVR350.
Is there a way to improve the quality of the tv-out?

Hi,

first I must say that gbpvr is great, I only bought a mvp because of
this software :-)

But I have 2 problems.

a) when I play a avi file, the movie isn't center on the tv,
but the live tv etc is ok...

b) the sound and the picture of a movie aren't syncron.

Could you give me tips how to fix that.

I have a sempron 2800+
