Just recently discovered GB-PVR and looking to get some kit to use its great abilities!
I currently have Digital DVB-T Freeview, and also Analogue cable TV (Yes, analogue cable TV!).
When I moved in I piped tv cables and installed a wired network throughout the house to each room. I am now looking to utilize some of it!
First and foremost is the question, can I get 2 x analogue and 2 x DVB-T tuner cards, or 2 x hybrids which do both digital and analogue, and this will all work ok with gb-pvr?
The reason I would want to keep the analogue is because they pump Sky One down the analogue cable, but I can't get that on the DVB-T.
I guess ideally I would like to get a programme guide which lists all the channels from the digital (digital EPG), plus Sky One from the analogue cable system (presumably this would use the web for a tv guide listing?).
Not sure if this is possible ...
The DVB-T tuners I am looking at is the WinTV Nova-T PCI card tuner, which sells for around £40 at Pc World. I am looking to get a couple of these so I can watch and record at the same time.
That is if I can't do dual analogue AND digital at the same time!?
Anybody any suggestions for good tuner cards that would suit my purpose?
Anybody know any cheap places to buy these from?
I am also looking to get a couple of Hauppauge Media MPV's so I can watch/control all this from the bedroom and the living room.
I can't seem to find anywhere that has these in stock, tried the usual ebuyer, dabs, etc no joy. Are they not making them anymore? Anybody know where I can get a couple from?

95.16 - Everything nearly works. Exiting differnt menus I get the Object not a bla bla error message. Also when trying to play music. (mp3) It all worked in 94.11. Hmmmmmm Cant connect to Web radio either.

Now that GBPVR can use the Media Player visualisations I thought about having a(nother) go at writing my own. Some while back I wrote a couple of visualisations, my favourite being the one which bounced the head of our hated CEO to the beat of the music.
What I wanted to ask was if anyone has any experience of writing them as I've just used basic windows GDI calls to create animations and it really isn't up to job of what some of the more funky ones do. Do they use OpenGL for instance?
Any ideas and thoughts gratefully received. . . .

It would appear that after my PC in the lounge comes out of standby the MVP Server doesn't work - IE its there - Its running but my MVP won't connect. If I stop the MVP Server and start it my mvp connects and works. I'm running the MVP server manually not using the feature to auto start it as I had the same problem than and that meant going into config to get it to restart things which I couldn't do if it was recording. Its not the end of the world but that main time at present we are using the MVP is when the kids get up in the morning and come into our bed to watch TV I have to get up and go out to the lounge and kill it and re-run it. I'm guessing its an issue with Standby/Power Saving? Anyone had this issue?
I'm considering a reconfiguration of my system. Right now everything lives on a single 160GB 5400PRM IDE drive.
I've now got a new 250GB SATA drive and am considering rearranging things so that:
- the XP system, GBPVR and its databases, system utilities etc are on the current 160GB IDE (much larger than needed but its already there.)
- add the SATA drive and all the video, music, etc., libraries, record buffer space, etc., move to it;
- adding a small IDE drive (I have a spare 40GB on hand) and using that for the swapfile, logfiles, etc. to keep the swap space off the system spindle.
I installed GBPVR last week and it seems to work fine
Then... I decided to record some old 3 hr tapes from a VCR (rf output from VCR into Hauppauge PVR USB) and it again worked - but - the resulting file only contained the first hour of the programme. Like this -
TV-1-2120051208_1249.mpg 2,207,888 KB.
I tried again and kept an eye on it and it appears that a new file is created each hour but when the recording is halted the subsequent files get deleted, leaving only the first one (in the 'temporary' TV directory) :confused:
I've done the usual forum browsing and googling without any luck.
I haven't included full details and log files here as I'm hoping there is an obvious answer someone can point me to.
