I just bought an Avermedia A180 HDTV Card. Right now I'm probably going to (try to) use it with GB-PVR. I have a couple of questions:
1. Is it compatible with GB-PVR? (I assume so)
2. I'm using the aerial/ATSC channels for my HDTV. However I plan on keeping my other card (PVR150) which will be connected to cable. How will this work in GBPVR (will it work?)
3. Do you think my CPU will be powerful enough to handle PVR'ing HDTV? The signal from the card is MPEG2, right? (no software encoding) Will my CPU (Athlon XP 1600+) be able to handle it? (if it can't, the CPU is a good overclocker so I can overclock it about 200MHz or so, although I don't right now)
It appears that the configuration program and the location of the prefered channels have become decoupled. I make changes in config and they are no longer being made in the application? It also appears that the channels in TV guide/live TV seem to be sometimes doubled, sometimes they dont appear in the list, but in scrolling up and down there are "phantoms" channels that don't show up in the list, but when scrolled there is a spot where the active cell is not visible? too small?
I was going to see if there was an xml file or registry location that might be wonky and manually clean it up, but can't seem to find where this data is saved.
Any help on location or another way to resolve this issue? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, with no joy.
I'm really liking GM-PVR but there is one thing I can't do with it. Record two channels at once. I believe, in my case, that this is more of a hardware problem . So... I would like a recommendation on a good, low cost, hardware encoding tuner card that would work well with my PVR-350, and, of course, with GB-PVR. I don't need another remote. I don't need an FM tuner. I'm thinking about a PVR-150 MCE. Is there anything about then MCE version that would cause me problems? From what I've read, this card is the same as a PVR-150 but without a remote. Is there anything else out there that would be a better choice?
A related question: If GB-PVR is currently using the PVR-350 tuner to record a program, can I view and/or pause live TV (through my PVR-350 TV Out) using the PVR-150 tuner? If not, is there another tuner card in which this is possible?
This is a continuation of another thread, where I was trying to fix my NOVA-T card, gave up and got a Twinhan Alpha. The title of the old post is completely irrelevant to my continuing problems, so I thought I'd be tidy and start a new one.
Anyway, on my new Twinhan Alpha, I've been having a problem with recordings. Even if I'm not watching the recording (GB-PVR is not running, but the recording service is) an ActiveWindow pops up with the video in it, the file doesn't write (0Kb files) and the CPU hits 35% and stays there, long after the recording is over (the ActiveWindow stays too).
sub Wrote:Its something to do with the way a filter called "MainConcept (Nikon) MPEG Video Decoder" is installed on your machine. I recommend finding where it is installed on your machine, and uninstalling it.
Sub, this is new to me. I had nothing like this with the NOVA-T. How do I find out what has installed that decoder? I've uninstalled all the Nikon software that I've got, but it didn't help. How can I trace the offending software?
Come to that, why is GB-PVR calling this decoder if it doesn't need it? I'm only trying to write the stream to disk, not to play it back.
Also - I didn't have this problem with the NOVA-T. I've now got it with the Twinhan Alpha, so is it a difference in the way they work, or must have I installed something new recently with this decoder in it?
I have tried uninstalling all the Twinhan applications (as well as the Nikon ones). The card still works, and I still get this error, so it's not something that got onboard that way.
I'm not keen to keep experimenting with uninstallations as:
it's a pain
I don't know what I'm doing
Can you give any clues as to what I should do? Get a third card to try? I've got another 9 days, I think, before I have to take this card back to Maplins.
Hi,
Are there any music player plug-ins for gbpvr that can display mp3 tags? So far I've been unable to get them to display. I've even re-created the mp3 tags using MusicBrainz but to no avail - none of the music plug-ins recognise them and instead display file names.
But various screen-shots on the website show them successfully displayed. Any help greatly appreciated.
When I log off my Win XP account I get an error message as XP is logging off. The error message does not appear long enough for me to read it in full and it seems as if XP ignores it and continues to log off.
After seeing it many times I think it says something like "application failed to close" and "gbpvr.exe" is in the message.
This error message does not seem to affect any recordings scheduled after logging off, however this past Sunday I logged off in the middle of GBPVR recording a show, I got the error message, and when I played this recording last night about half way through the recording the recorded channel changed to a different channel. GBPVR did record for the full time however - just on two different channels.
I am trying to get the automatic conversion processing to work in GBPVR. I have set it in the config app to run and convert to both WMV and Xvid but GBPVRconvert never actually starts. No log is created.
I can run it on the command line and convert to either WMV or Xvid just fine. But it will not run from the app on its own during the scheduled hours. What am I missing here? This is a fresh default install of GBPVR.
Love the plugin , and have utilized the forums to successfully burn several DVD's of one and many shows.
The problem I am having (besides not finding the answer in the forums) is that during playback of a multiepisodic DVD, the first show plays just fine, but the later show(s) do not .
Then, the weird (to me) thing is that to get to the second show, I have to fast forward past the first show.
Am I batch-filing something incorrect or missing a setting? There is no menu on the DVD, and I haven't had the time to verify the tracks/chapters in a player or computer yet. But my wife (CEO level customer) likes to use them as background noise, and they are less than useful when they only play the one show.
I don't have log files or anything, but will try to provide anything that would be helpful.
I have installed XDVD, but i does't work at all (VLC has been installed as well). I can't change the drive to D:, where all my video files are located.
Even a dvd palyed on the PC (TV connected to the PC) doesn't work.
