  No Sound
Posted by: BigT - 2005-11-10, 08:13 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I record several channels on a weekly basis and have a couple channels that have no sound but others both above and below those channels have sound. I have older shows from those channels that are fine. I updated the PVR 150 drivers and it did not help any ideas of what to try?

IS the EPIA board powerfull enough to run with GBPVR?

I'm using GBPVR with a PVR-150. Is there a way that I can record programs with the audio being the Secondary Audio Program (SAP)?

  Controlling Windows Media Player
Posted by: cannabinoidboy - 2005-11-10, 05:35 PM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

I am using windows media player as an external task in GBPVR to play audio CDs, using the arguments /device: DVD (Device: audio CD doesn't work!) the /fullscrren switch doesn't work because it has to go before the /device which then doesn't have the desired effect (i.e. play CD with full screen visualizations no menu bar etc.). Anyone have any idea how I can automatically send a fullscreen command to WMP after the CD has started playing ?
Many Thanks

  accessing recordings via the web
Posted by: SirJYK - 2005-11-10, 04:51 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

Is it possible to access recordings via the web. I have some recordings of shows that others would like to d/l from me. I have tried using icq on my pvr machine with the shared folders option enabled. However, I think that the actual file must be manually placed into the shared folder for this to work. I would like to grant access to users via a password to access the shows recorded and placed into the My Videos folder.
Thanks.

Need help with NTSC / PAL / SECAM conversion
Posted by: bdgbill - 2005-11-10, 03:12 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

I have been all over the net looking for a solution to what I thought would be a simple problem:

My girlfriends sister is staying in Paris for a few months and is begging us to send her DVD's of "Lost".

Does anyone know if NTSC DVD's I burn in Canada will be viewable on French equipment? Is it possible to convert NTSC to PAL/SECAM?

I have been googling this question but keep running into ads for hardware solutions or mail in sevices.

Need ideas about my remote (not a gbpvr issue)
Posted by: libop - 2005-11-10, 02:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi everyone,

What I'm about to talk you about is not a GBPVR issue, I only am looking for ideas about using my remote more powerfully.

Let me explain :
I do have only one computer at home with a graphic card that allows me to perform dual screen display. The main display is for working on my PC, the second is for the GBPVR TV display. I am able to simultaneously work on my PC and watch GBPVR-Live TV on my TV set (thanks to the dual view feature of my graphic card). Here is the thing : I have a Pinnacle TV Card (MediaCenter 200i which owns a dvb-t tuner) and I'm using an old Pinnacle Remote (which came with my old Pinnacle PCTV Analog Card). The remote came with an IR receiver (plugged into the serial port of the PC) and a Pinnacle little program (remote.exe) which for each remote pressed button performs a Keyboard shortcut I programmed. Therefore I programmed the remote to work fine with GBPVR but it has to be focused : I mean that the remote acts on focused programs only but when I'm doing something else with my computer, GBPVR isn't focused and then the remote cannot control GBPVR.

Does anyone of you has an idea to make the remote control GBPVR even if it is not focused which may help my girlfriend watch and control TV or recorded shows while I'm working on the computer.

Sorry if that message is long but I wanted to explain it in details in order you to be aware of my "configuration". Thank you Smile

  Cleaning the EPG data...
Posted by: steves - 2005-11-10, 09:37 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I decided to try out cleaning the EPG data last night to maybe help with performance....

The size of the gbpvr.mdb file was around 98meg!
I hit the "Empty EPG" button, and it thunk for quite a while. But when I opened the db in access there were still 31000 rows in the programme table, with some repeated rows!
Repeated pressing of the empty epg button still didn't clear out the data. I tried with the recording service stopped & Access closed (in case of locking issues). No dice.

Eventually I decided to to the clean manually with Access (after making a backup of the DB). After cleaning & compression the DB was at about 512Kb.
After an "UpdateEPG" it went up to 65Meg!!!
(I load 2 weeks of data & the XML file is approx 8 meg long)

So two things here:
1) "Empty EPG" didn't really do an empty.
2) Why is the DB sooo big? Is this just access?

An extra complication was that some preexisting recordings changed name e.g. "Frasier" became "Judge Judy" etc Obviously due to the fact I'd deleted the original programme IDs & the recording IDs pointed to new programmes.
So what would I need to do to do a safe clean?

Cheers

Steve
