What's the deal with not recording duplicate episodes?
Posted by: chasef - 2005-10-28, 02:00 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

I know I haven't posted in forever but...I'm just now getting rather annoyed that the setting that's supposed to keep duplicate episodes from being recorded using Zap2It data isn't actually doing so. Have there been any developments on this or something I completely missed? Someone please help me cause I'm having trouble keeping straight all the new shows I'm recording. Thank you!

  gbpvr log error???
Posted by: SteveO - 2005-10-28, 01:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I have a 'clean' gbpvr log file except for this one error...

Code:
10/28/2005 9:22:15 AM.578    ERROR    [2]    Unable to find node: /settings/SpecialElements/SpecialElement[@name="MenuType"]

Does anyone know what's causing it and what I should do about it?

Thanks,
SteveO

  New MVP . . . doomed ?
Posted by: Cyb - 2005-10-28, 09:02 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

Just received my new MVP and it's a rev D3, I've read about problems with this version and having to return them to Hauppauge.

Are all rev D3's doomed to overheating & reboot issues or are some of them OK ?

  Which card/cards to use?
Posted by: Jovid - 2005-10-28, 07:42 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (10)

I'm sure you guys have been asked this question about a thousand times, and I did seem to notice the pvr150 was a popular suggestion.....but! being a newbie and needing to learn the ropes, I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

Here are a few requirements....

I do not need an HDTV tuner, etc... at this time. I have a decent AMD box, with plenty of Ram but haven't picked out a video card yet since I'm not sure what I need to buy. I am going to use it with my 36" Tv and I do have a nice surround sound system.

I would like to have an FM Tuner as well as be able to record two shows at once or watch one and record another. Also, I would like to be able to upload my DVDs onto my PC and be able to view them. How many video cards/TV Tuner cards do I need? I'm pretty sure I would need two TV Tuner cards for PVR functions, but need some suggestions on that also. Also, do I need a good audio card to output signal to my receiver? Also, what about analog and digital, I do have digital audio inputs on my receiver, but what about output from the PC. Also, same with video....is it analog or digital from the PC to the TV? I have digital cable with built in pvr functionality at this moment, but will I still need it or do I just plug the cable from the wall right into the PC/Tuner card?

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. If there is a forum that lists this obvious info, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions....Joe

Im trying to convince a friend to set up a pvr computer but he has a question i dont know so I figured id ask here. He has digital cable with a set top box that controls which channel is shown. Can an IR blaster that comes with the pvr-150 change the channel automatically at a certain time to record a show? I dont use the ir blaster since I have analogue cable and wasnt sure if it only retransmitted the remote signal to the set top box or if the card could do it on its own for schedualed recordings.

Weather plugin hangs retrieving forcast info
Posted by: SteveO - 2005-10-28, 04:02 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (41)

I'm having trouble getting the weather plug in to work. I've done a fresh install and only added the weather plugin. After configuring with my zipcode and running gbpvr, clicking on the weather button, I get the message window about getting weather info from msn. It never completes. I get these errors in the gbpvr log file...

Code:
10/27/2005 11:52:15 PM.218    ERROR    [6]    Weather plugin error downloading weather for 48307
10/27/2005 11:52:15 PM.218    ERROR    [6]    URL was http://weather.msn.com/search.aspx?weasearchstr=48307
10/27/2005 11:52:15 PM.218    ERROR    [6]    System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: StartIndex cannot be less than zero.
Parameter name: startIndex
   at System.String.Substring(Int32 startIndex, Int32 length)
   at System.String.Substring(Int32 startIndex)
   at GBPVR.Plugins.WeatherPlugin.WeatherInformation.ParseWeatherForecast()
10/27/2005 11:52:15 PM.218    VERBOSE    [6]    Weather plugin done with download for 48307

Any idea what's causing this to happen?

Thanks,
SteveO

Ps. sorry to be such a "pest" with these various problems getting things setup. Thanks for the help.
