I've been having a problem playing back .AVI files using GbPVR over the MVP. Specifically XvID's and DivX recorded AVI files. The sound and video won't sync up.
Well -- today -- for grins and giggles I turned off GbPVR completely, started the latest HauPPauge MVP software (the one on the website in Beta), and guess what...?? All of my AVI files played "PERFECTLY!" I mean ''flawlessly''. I was floored... Everyone said it was an installed codec issue, and I've been beating my head against the wall following all kinds of advise -- I mean weird stuff -- just short of sacrificing a goat on my kitchen counter, I don't know what else I could have done...
SO -- it's the MVP Transcoder that was built with the GBPVR application that is causing the sync errors....
At least now I can play some of those recorded episodes of the Sopranos. I just have to shut down GbPVR & start the Hauppauge application everytime I want to watch them....
Sub -- if you are reading -- and if it's on your to-do list, give it a shot and see if you have any of the same results... I was just running the 'straight' Hauppauge software, nothing else outside of installed native codecs.
I used to have my MVP's (I have two) loose connection to the server on a daily basis. I've added the network tweaks re-built the system, etc. etc. to no avail.
Today I made two simple changes: I elevated the process priority of the GBPVR service a notch, AND I installed the .net 2.0 beta 2 framework.
I'm happy to report this made some big changes (positive ones) to the responsiveness of my MVP's; much more stable, no more connection problems at all any more.
How about the ability to have one button on the remote toggle between devices to control?
So for instace you have 2 MediaMVP's in different rooms. This would alow you to contol the one in the other room.
Or, in my case, (with another feature request) I would like to have my IR extender in the room with the DSM-320 and the repeater in the room with my MediaMVP.
Now, since the DSM-320 doesn't currently have the facilities to transmit it's remote input to GBPVR, I could use the MVP's remote. Then with just a little more code, GBPVR could just send the Menu images and media files to the DSM-320, and wouldn't have to transcode the media formats it supports like xvid/divX, MP4, WMA etc.
Fairly plain, slightly modified Blue, with more eye candy than default.

Enjoy, and as always, feedback welcome.

I bought a VisionPlus (Twinhan chip set) DVB-S card. While the card is working fine under Windows XP SP2 with the included Twinhand DTV software, I cannot manage to get it working under gbpvr 94.13.
I have installed the latest BDA driver Version 1.2.2.7 from Twinhan site.
The error message I get when clicking on "Digital Channel Mapping" in the configuration program is:
"GB-PVR was unable to start the BDA device you have configured. Check the device is confiugred properly, and not already in use. (Reason: Failed to locate configured BDA capture device)"
Under Computer Management, Device Manager, Sound and Video the DVB-TV 878 Digital Capture Driver and Digital Tuner Driver are correctly listed and functional.
I have a dell dimension 2350, p4 2.40 ghz, and am trying to get my TV working in GB-PVR. I am using zap2it, and am receiving all the EPG updates etc. My tv tuner card is a hauppauge 150 MCE. When I go into the program and open the TV, no picture is displayed, but I can hear the audio. Please any help appreciated =D. tell me if im missing any vital specifications you need.
Hi,
Ive got GBPVR up and running on the TV side, and ive got to say its fantastic.
Next step is to get my ripped DVDs displayed. I have tried to install My Videos (without DVD author, and 2 other things) (have got decryptor, daemon and database) and although the pluging appears in config, nothing shows in GBPVR itself.
I only want to rip and display dvds here (select by dvd cover pic), not burn anything.
any help would be appreciated.
I transcode files when I'm running low on disk space. Basically I run DirMon on the recordings directory and use mencoder to cut and transcode the file to XviD and then rename the show.mpg to show.mpgold. Short of manually updating the database, would it be possible for GB-PVR to look for show.avi if show.mpg cannot be found?
I've tried using the built-in transcoding but ran into problems discussed in other threads.
I am trying to burn my recordings to DVD. I am using MyVideos and do the 'Burn' and then 'Demux and Burn' The first part of the convert.bat (cPVSA) runs but instead of creating a 'temp.mpa' file creates a 'temp - DELAY 0ms.mpa'. When DVDAuthor then tries to do its bit it errors and says that it can't find 'temp.mpa'.
Can somebody explain what I am doing wrong?
I would like to receive EPG info with the DVB EPG grabber and UK Freeview. I can only use BDAScanType=2 in config file to scan for all channels successfully using a Hauppauge NOVA-T USB 2 device. Has anyone been able to download EPG data in the UK using this device rather than XMLTV. The relevant log entry when scanning using BDAScanType=1 after a successful scan with BDAScanType=2 proceeds:
